The Story Behind The Song:
Anthony Showalter was leading a singing school in an Alabama church in 1887. When he returned to his boardinghouse room one night, two letters awaited him. Both were from former students, and both men told of the recent loss of their wives. Mr. Showalter wrote back, seeking to comfort the young men in the midst of their grief.
But what to write? When he came to the end of each letter, he wanted to include a Bible verse. He picked Deuteronomy 33:27, “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”
He pondered the words of that verse as he penned them into the letters, and the lyrics of the chorus of "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" came to his mind. He wrote to his friend, Elisha Hoffman, explaining that he had a chorus, but no verses. Mr. Hoffman wrote back with the rest of the words of this famous hymn.

I have most of your songs on my playlist, and when I start listening, I find it hard to stop. I'm so thankful I found your quartet because I hardly listen to anyone else now. May God continue to bless you young men in your ministry and your personal lives. I am especially impressed by your bass, Josh. I have tried to think of someone I have heard over the years who can compare, and the only one I can come up with is J D Sumner. I think Josh is just as good if not better. (I am 77 years old, so I have heard a lot of gospel singing groups!) Keep the music coming!

Today. Redeemed Quartet will hit 20,000,000 views on You-Tube!! This weekend, they will probably hit 100,000 subscribers. They basically had the same numbers on FaceBook until their site was removed for no reason after being there for over six years! In my book this is plain miraculous!!! Over 40,000,000 views of four best friends that God told them to start singing together at ages 17,17,19 and 19. They knew absolutely nothing about music and had never sang by themselves before. I have never once heard them say "push that like button" or "please subscribe"! To me this has all been blessed by God because four young men wanted God to get the Glory!!! Love to the Redeemed Quartet!!! God raised you up for His Glory in this hour and I don't believe you have seen the half of it yet!!!!!!

These 4 young men no doubt were brought together by God Himself. When you watch them sing their faces just glow. The Fathers Grace and Goodness just seeps from their voice to create a harmony that is unmatched. I have cancer and I listen to them everyday. In fact they sing my most favorite hymns "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" and "It is well with my Soul". Thank you guys for the most pleasant comfort of the Soul.

Singing together is such a joy - I sang with my sister for most of our lives and it was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life - I can only imagine the joy these wonderful singers are sharing as they sing praises to Jesus -

I spent six weeks in Graham, NC over Christmas last year at this time. Never before had I heard so many people when I went shopping in those little stores and farmers markets say "Merry Christmas" to one another. This song reminds me of my time in the South. I wish I was back again. For a short period, it was a different world and the culture was so pro-America and Christian. I miss it. Good God-fearing people. These four red-blooded Americans remind me of my time spent there.

A couple of months ago we drove to northern Indiana to hear Redeemed Quartet live. No show-off and all heartfelt ministry. They were a deep blessing and we'd travel again to see these men in a live setting.
It's an everlasting promise; we can always lean on Him..he's ready and waiting.
In times like now, this is such an encouraging message for all. Following God's Word, and caring for others is so comforting to others and me. Brotherly love is awesome in this video as you sing.🙏🦌❤️

Prayers please. I was robbed and carjacked at gunpoint Monday morning in Knoxville, Tn. We've still not heard anything about our car. Please pray for peace as it's been very hard to sleep. I keep having flashbacks and nightmares of the incident.
