Own the same saw and love it . Works perfectly and when you invest a bit of time to align it properly its cuts very accurately. The only negative point is the massive inrush current of the motor. Makes the saw nearly bouncing at motor startup. Added a softstart module in the switch housing and it starts up like a purring kitten now. 👍

I do a couple of these saws a week, really durable. Usually cooked off by a new builder doing full depth rips on long wet timber. Wee tip on fitting the leads to the brush holder: I straighten the tab, remove the brush holder, fish the lead and connector out the holder hole. Connect it, put the holder back in and bend the connector and tab out the way.

Them parts are no more than 50 Euros to Dewalt and thats probably a stretch. The markup is literally Fraud if you ask me.. I wish company's were scrutenised by there government or some body that could walk in and do an inventory and pricing and say.. No you cant charge that much, thats illegial lads.. The likes of Dewalt is capitalism at is finest... Dyson is another one that drives me mad..

A soft start module can be easily put on this saw which makes a huge difference to start up - no jolt and I believe it prolongs motor life? Maybe Dean has an opinion???

Great advice about the metal fillings getting dragged in to the machine. Definitely needs some sort of filter in place if they are always cutting aluminium etc.
Definitely worth fixing for half the price of a new machine. Cheers Dean.

Sounds like a perfect candidate to cable clamp a long flexible dust extraction pipe to the motor housing to move the air intake well out of the way of chips. Maybe add a filter as well?? 🤔 Should keep it running longer next time and definitely a lot cheaper then replacing the motor on a regular basis!! 😅👍👍👍👍👍

I have the same saw in the US (dwe7491 120v) it's been reliable for 2-3 years of light use. The cost seemed high until you realize US sales tax is not included in advertised price because it varies so much by state and even locality, while VAT is included and also a higher percent. 220v being a lower sales volume makes up the difference of about 100euro. The repair is still economical compared to new. (US lowes, homedepot) (UK toolstoreUK, toolden, its)

There's lots of videos on tool testing from different makes but not much on the after sales service which I guess varies a lot from region to region, Cheers

The cost of parts for Dewalt is rediculous and their saws are not that well designed as illustrated in this video. First of all that motor is a direct drive so is taking a 100 % back force from the blade this results in increased wear to the bearings and increased amperage in the windings which leads to overheating and jumping starts.Belt driven blades allow some leeway and take out the shock of the direct drive. The customer would probably be better using a cheaper table saw for cutting metals such as Evolution which are a third of the price.

Could the guy not install a do it yourself mesh screen over one side?
    From frame bar to bar.
Depending on how it's accomplished, it might not affect air draw in any significant way, yet avoids the aluminum shavings. It can also be easily and cheaply replaced.
I mean, it's not like he cares about the warranty at this point lol.
Might as well add some hillbilly ingenuity to the mix for longevity.
