I'm from Brazil...there are at least 12 sub species and most of them w/ vibrant colors. And most of them also change color and patterns through the year. This red means they are in the mating season. This fish also take care of their offspring! It's an amazing fish!
If y’all can’t afford to go to the Amazon, just to go Miami,Fort Lauderdale or west Palm beach and they’re in every freshwater canal/lake. Super fun fish to catch
I wish I could afford the trip because peacocks are a hard fighting and beautiful. Guess I’ll have to settle for a little Miami peacock trip once a year
The gills on that bass are crazy so much color against a white belly makes that fish look amazing

Why are they not this big in Florida? I’ve caught them my whole life & have never even seen one this big down here..

Not as big though but yes they are all over south Florida
