  • In this episode of Let’s Get Fat, Nakul and Arjun Mahendro of Badmaash (www.badmaashla.com/) in Los Angeles show Playboy senior editor Jeremy Repanich how they combined their Canadian roots with their Indian heritage to make a delicious Chicken Tikka Poutine. They start by marinating chicken thighs in yogurt, mustard oil, fenugreek, garlic and a mixture of spices, then they cook it in a tandoor oven. The Mahendro brothers put that classic Indian chicken atop the classic Canadian drunk food: poutine. A good poutine consists of fries, gravy and cheese curds. They toss their fries in some Indian spices to round out this outstanding dish that’s perfect for a night of long drinking.

    Hey everybody, I wanted to let you know that this will be the last episode of Let's Get Fat and Patrick Cappiello's Tasting Notes will also be on hiatus. Thanks to everyone who has supported both shows-creating, producing and directing them has been a lot of fun, and hopefully they helped you better understand the chefs and the food they make. You can follow me on Twitter here: twitter.com/racefortheprize and on Instagram here: instagram.com/jrepanich/. Once again, thanks everybody, hope to see you somewhere else again soon.
    And to the trolls out there I have just one word for you: Umami.

    At last, someone said it. Cheese curd is not supposed to melt in the poutine. That's the one thing you have to remember you 'mericans.

    These guys gotta use traditional paneer instead of cheese curds!!!

    • @mkaraakaya

      Rajiv Bansal but paneer is more firm and not as buttery. İ was thinking Paneer Tikka as a topping instead of chicken for a veg option.

    kinda seems more confused than a good fusion, the gravy would be way too meaty and savoury in comparison to the tandoori chicken which would both be contesting as the primary flavour

    It's chicken tikka, a boneless preparation of tandoori chicken. Just putting that out there cause it started to itch. Excuse me.

    In my opinion, it would have been better with masala or butter sauce.

    • @pdytko
      @pdytko 7 лет назад

      i feel like that would make it "too indian" lol. Poutine doesn't have that many spices and strong flavors and a strong sauce it would overpower the dish.

      @FORMERLYAKDA 7 лет назад

      bigguycancook so if you watch the munchies chef's night out on these two chefs they actually make the poutine in a butter masala sauce!

    • @bigguycancook
      @bigguycancook 7 лет назад

      So, seen it, great episode btw. Here in Montreal we call that crack.Like I said, it would have been better in my opinion, if he used butter or masala sauce instead of that brown gravy!

    • @FORMERLYAKDA
      @FORMERLYAKDA 7 лет назад +1

      bigguycancook completely agree I think it would have been A ton better but traditionalist homers have been upset even at this variation.

    You got the fries wrong. Too crispy, in Montreal the authentic ones are always more soggy.

    I will get a lot of hate for this but I have to ask anyway. Why are the chefs obese? They are clearly successful, seem to love what they do and have the energy and willpower required to make the business work. Being obese is not healthy for you and losing weight and being fit will increase the overall quality of life. Btw, I suffer from depressions and can't be bothered doing much during the depressions and so I've now become obese. From my perspective, there is no excuse for it. You can defend being overweight because that is not necessarily unhealthy. The extra fat = Insulation protects organs and retains body heat, extra energy reserves in lean times or for long lasting strenuous activities.
    I don't think they are any less because of their weight, I do however think less of myself because of my weight gain. To me, anything that betrays my internal struggles is a sign of weakness. I don't show anger, fear, sadness, etc.....
