  • How to become a band manager / Band Management / Advice On Managing An Artist.
The biggest part of this is to immerse yourself in learning the music industry and how the current state of play is in the music business. Then it's about getting started at the lowest level and finding a local young band and figure out how you can bring value to a band.
Your job as a band manager to begin with is how you can organise them and manage them to let them get the best out of themselves and their project.
Before you start worrying about the complexities of record label meetings or getting on radio 1 lets start setting goals, targets and deadlines and also prioritising the right strategy so that the creativity doesn't take over and dilute the water.
There are 200+ videos on my channel and if you want to manage a band firstly allocate some time to watching the videos and understanding where we are at and how you can then put this into practice with young bands.
    Rule 1 - Learn
Rule 2 - Practice - Find a band who will let you get involved and gain experience by doing!
Rule 3 - Organise, Inspire and help set targets and deadlines.
    Repeat Repeat Repeat!

    😊 About Me:
Hey! I'm Damian Keyes and I've worked with musicians every day of my life for the past 20 years. When I was 18, I was signed to a major label and at 23 I founded the world's largest set of music colleges, currently valued at $100m.
As a bassist, I've played on stage for artists such as Eric Clapton, Alanis Morrisette and Billy Cobham. I also own a management company and live agency, undertaking over 10,000 gigs a year.
On a fun side note, I've also previously broken two Guinness World Records (whilst at BIMM), one for the highest number of guitar pedals used in a sound and one for the largest guitar rig ever built!

Dude this mans advice is horrible... setting goals is great and all, but you need to understand what drives the people behind the band... where the differences are and where the middle ground is! This guy is logical to the point of haemorrhoids.... don't not listen to this video... its basically a serial killer pretending he doesnt kill and then murders everyone with a name starting with the alphabet

Which path is likely to be best for shaping you into becoming a world class band manager? Going to college for a degree in Music Business? Or devouring blogs, books, and RUclips videos about managing bands and THEN going to college if you decide that a lack of a degree is holding you back by more than enough to pay the $150K - $200K that the degree will cost to get?

Hi Andrew, I think you are in a lucky position where a lot of education is now free to consume online but there is nothing like having a good mentor to help with strategy and ideas and experience. I would only go on a degree if the people teaching and running the course are really helping and getting stuck in with your career.. The piece of paper isn't worth that much money

Former special ed. teachers are the best for the purpose of setting goals and working towards them.

How do I convince the band I laughingly "manage" to take my advice on board?

do you need an LLC to protect the band's merch table?

What is the "right" way to approach a potential candidate about management? What's the right way to ask someone to he your manager?

Your poor daughter looks like she checked out after she read the question lol. She just keeps looking at you when you look at her so she looks like she is paying attention lmao. But I sure she gets a lot of great opportunities and knowledge having you as a father.
