I've played both Paladins and Overwatch since 2016. I'm a fan of both games and can appreciate their similarities and differences. That's why I like when streamers like Flats give the game a fair chance and form an actual opinion of it instead of going "lol overwatch better" every 2 seconds.
True, played paladins since then too, ive always prefer paladins' gameplay actually, unfortunately the game looks like it has ps2 graphics
@@la_win69 paladins is actually a better 5v5 moba but yeah unfortunatly graphics and certain wackiness dont allow it to be up there, even if it is a great innovative game

@@hed1623 i feel like t's just that in ow you die faster and the abilities are less complex, which is fine because it makes the game lean more lean more towards fps/arena shooter instead of moba

Too many boobs tho
Ya it really needs more support that unfortionly the company hi rez doesn't do much. It may be going in the right direction but for people who are their since the beginning, they need more new big content and item store changes and the new ltms aren't enough.
@@pippo17173 yes but, what they need to do is fix the game. The bugs and issues in the game just make it not fun after a while.
@@Ontarianmm The recent patch itself removed a lot of bugs and added a lot of clarity to the game. They even forgo'd making a champion because people were complaining about the game not being stable enough to warrant more content.
They did it, and I'd say they did a really good job.
@@nidium1951okay but paladins. Still has a long road to go. It just doesn't run as well as overwatch does, it doesn't look as good as overwatch does. The settings are still pretty barebones in comparison fo overwatch. And There is still no dedicated replay viewer.
And this is a thing that I don't think many players of paladins think about. The lighting and shadowing is very poor. Luckily they have very distinct character silhouettes so visibility isn't as bad as stuff like apex or warzone. But it becomes extremely obvious during team fights with alot of ults and particle effects being thrown around. All the bright colors tend to blend together and it becomes very difficult to aim. Overwatch has this issue too. Just not to the same level that paladins does. Next time you play overwatch and you see a big ult fight happen. Really pay attention to how much you can actually see during the fight. And then play paladins and make the comparison.

Flats in Paladins!?
F*CK YEA
Paladins is very fun. Only problem that I have at the moment is trying to recover my account, since I haven't played since the Switch sundown, and my Hi-Rez account just won't connect with my other console account.
I'm having a similar issue, same thing with the account merging since they shutdown the game on the Switch a few months ago... but instead of me trying to play it on a different console, I tried it on my PC and it basically forced me to create a "new" account. So, my 3 and a half (almost 4) years worth of progress from champion unlocks, skins, customizations, etc... is all gone now.
To say that I'm "disappointed" would be an understatement, as it's beyond that point for me now. The fact that they would've rather (and DID) shutdown Paladins on Switch, instead of trying to fix the major amount of bugs that they had within the game... it just baffles me. Super upsetting, but I guess we have no choice but to do what we can & deal with it, as it is.
it would actually be appealing if it didnt feel like a chinese mobile game running on 30fps
@@bobo-ds6zdTrue. I played it while it was in beta and a few years after. Came back recently and somehow the gameplay hasn't changed a bit, but it had more graphic bugs (like the one Flats had) and the new characters, skins and menus gave mobile game vibes. It's still funny obviously but kind of sad
@@RizePlus In the same boat as you, love paladins but can't be brought to play it when I'll be starting from scratch after years of progress
Ohh not gonna call out overwatch ever hero behind pay walls ever match you switch for 10minutes and shoot for 3
I think the reason it's fun is because it's more chill. You don't get the entire enemy going mach 20 across the map to kill you as a tank, for example.
Well there is the procent based damage talents that is quite good against tanks👍
Well, some characters can move fast at mach 10, even teleport, but yeah, slower than OW
time to kill tends to be a lot slower since cauterize sorta forces a lot of damage to be lower to be a bit fairer vs heals. You also just have more options because of loadouts, talents, and items to help with that. Characters can honestly be more mobile than OW characters imo tho. Stuff like VII, certain dredge lodouts, vora, and so on usually can just clear entire maps. Maps also often are a bit compact like most seige maps too for instance so its easier to get around. Mounts also help less mobile characters rejoin the game fast too, helps make it less of a respawn sim so you still can actually play the game some even if you're losin a lot.
it's more chill because your ELO is lower
*VII has entered the chat*
Unironically I can't drop this game because tanks are so good in this game
Like the role is actually really strong and good in Paladins
If you take tank recommendations, I strongly suggest you play Atlas! He's the man out of time and basically Tracer as a tank with a rewind ability that lets him return to full hp. His shield blocks all incoming projectiles and has no health, lasting for 3 seconds.
It lasts longer if you use any other talent...
nah hes debatably the hardest champ to play definitely not recommended for a new player
Flats would be so confused playing atlas so I'm on board because it would be entertaining to watch him save the enemies 😂
One of my favorite tanks next to Fernando (been a Nando main since closed beta)
Atlas take a min to click with but god damn is he fun once you do
Ash is the goat.
im hoping we get more paladins from you flats the game is really enjoyable also for anyone making comments about them not putting any new chars out they have not for the last 3 updates due to the community asking them to slow down on characters.
Ya it's better they stop by now and I wouldn't mind if we don't get one for a year or two.
I’m glad he enjoyed Imani. When I played she was definitely my favorite character by far. So much fun
I'm just glad he played her after a ton of bug fixes
early game paladins is tough but when you get into it with all the loadouts and different champion playstyles you will understand it and be able to play it for fun
there was some things about paladins that nvr hooked me in like OW did but i loved the game mode of fighting over a point then the winner pushes a payload, always wish OW did something like that
I do think paladins did it better since it's not just 10 minutes of struggling to push first point and losing on cart. I actually wouldn't mind seeing this version in OW
Ironically they bit to bit taking things from paladins to add to OW
So who starts to copy now?
Seagull going back to his roots.
Now he just needs to stream a bit of tf2 to complete that.
Paladins is the game I play when I wanna take a few weeks away from OW towards the end of a season. It's not quite as polished and the heroes all being locked kinda sucks, but it's a very fun game.
What paladins needs is quality of life improvements. Just things to make the game feel more smooth to play
like the ability to fucking crouch. the fact they haven't added crouching is wild imo

I was a devout OW player until about OW2 Season 3. Met a friend at college who'd played Paladins since launch, i had dipped my toes in when it was new, and convinced me to play with him just in time for me to lose faith in Blizzard. Been playing Paladins since, as you saw the devs are active in the community, put out polls asling what the community wants to see changed (and they listen), and the character depth is massive. Theres a lot to know, and that experienced friend made the transition a lot easier, but overall, the game has its merits.
the ow2 devs are pretty active in the community, i think it’s just that paladins has a smaller community

The community is very small, and since people always say "lol overwatch is better" even without having played, this video made me very happy.

And peace guys, both games are fun and both are good with very crucial gameplay differences.

Theres no way youve been playing since 2016 and u still think paladins is fun
@@GRUC1Othats usually what happens when someone enjoys a game
@@GRUC1O - Yes, it is. In my opinion, it's even more fun than Overwatch because of some extremely specific things. If you're interested, I can point these things out.
@@RuanRicardoNN yeah tell me actually, interesting to know
@@GRUC1O - Let's take it easy, ok?
First, the build system.
You can, to some extent, customize a character according to how you feel comfortable. Drogoz, for example. I can make a build to fly infinitely, or another to kill and run, or another just to spam damage. Can you understand? I can play my way. In Overwatch, each character has a specific way of playing, and this limits it a bit, because everyone who plays well with a certain character plays the same way, but in Paladins that doesn't happen. Following Drogoz's example, you can have one on your team and one against you. They both play very well, but the way they both play and the builds are completely different, with their own advantages and disadvantages.
This is without taking into account the items, which you normally buy to complete your build. Item that makes me charge my Ult faster, or that reduces the cooldown of skills, or that increases my movespeed when I get an elimination, and so on.
Second, "counters".
In Overwatch, if the guy is your counter you simply won't be able to do anything no matter how well you play and you are forced to change characters. Tank, for example, plays on the counterswap basis.
In Paladins, even if you are against a counter you can still play for two reasons. Firstly, in my opinion, your ability is a little more valued, because of the builds and because there is no absolute counter.
Also because of the items. If I'm against a character that gives me a lot of CC to the point where I can't do anything, I can buy an item that reduces the duration of that. So if I'm playing Raum, for example, who is a character that is heavily countered by CC, I can buy an item that reduces the duration and in the end I won't be so harmed or be a dead weight for the team. This is extremely important.
Third, the teams.
In Paladins, you are not required to take any specific class. I won't deny that it's more practical when you have at least one of each, for example, but it's not mandatory. So if you want you can make a team with 4 Tanks and 1 Sup, or 5 Sup, or 3 DPS and 2 Tanks, and you can potentially win. And since there is the issue of builds, you are not locked into an archetype. Take the character you think will work, and go.
In Overwatch, in addition to having defined classes (which isn't exactly a problem), it has defined archetypes and the entire match is based on that. If the team is rush or brawl, for example, the characters that work in this archetype, the issue is that if the guy doesn't get a character that fits, the team feels the match getting heavier, you know? And this ALWAYS happens. So there are games, for example, where people talk about Tank Diff, but the problem is the support that doesn't work with that tank and puts the blame on someone else or that archetype, or the DPS that doesn't accompany the tank. Can you understand when I say it like that? This is a discouraging problem.
Fourth, balancing.
In my opinion, Overwatch's balancing is seasonal and the game can NEVER be fair. So if we're in the Poke meta, you HAVE to play within that meta or you won't play well because everything else is very weak. They buff what doesn't need it and nerf what doesn't need it. I remember a buff that Brigg and Mei received (it was a while ago) that my only reaction was: "Why the fuck did someone decide to buff her?".
In Paladins, for example, there is a character, more than one in fact, who has not received a buff or nerf for almost a year. And it's harder to balance, because of the builds.
The idea of balancing is to nerf what is very strong and buff what is very weak so that all characters are viable, with the difference being that there are characters that are more niche, and there are others that do a little bit of everything.
Fifth, the community.
Both games have problems in the community, but Overwatch's is a little worse because it's the type that insists on mistakes. The Overwatch community, for example, has two extremes. There are those who insist on playing with a character who is being a dead weight for the team and if you even suggest that he change to help the team, he will blame the defeat on you. He will have done absolutely nothing, he will have the worst support in the game for example, but according to him it's the rest of the team's fault. The other extreme is the player who only focuses on numbers. It's the player, for example, of Doomfist who only hunts for kills far away but can't help the team in TF, the DPS player who did a lot of damage but only hit the tank because he leaves the enemy support free, it's the support player who He has 15K healing and is being less efficient than the team's support that healed 7K and so on.
In Paladins the problem is the pre-judgment people, when they see the talent I'm using, they think I'm going to play badly and start trolling the match, you know?
The rest of the problems the community has in every game.
Even if it was an April Fools joke, it's great to see a big content creator give Paladins some attention. I enjoyed this video greatly, especially as an Imani enjoyer myself.
As someone who loves Paladins (but doesn't play it too often since all my friends are apprehensive about it :( ) I was SO excited to see this video!! Imani is really cool!! Terminus is reins hammer w kinetic grasp, but instead of Shields you gain charges for your projectile, up to 4 charges making it fire 5 shots. But you can build into not using the charges and have them give you speed and DR for every stack your holding, having a completely different play style then using them for burst dmg.
I'd actually have a blast if you played more paladins, this game is so special to me and seeing you react to stuff for the first time brought tears to my eyes, damn I miss this game sm...

I remember when this was my fix for overwatch on the switch and i had so much fun with the giant axe welding monster.
Wish this game got a remaster it has so much potential. Also, i adore their skins despite the graphics being bad, they have a lot of detail, sound effects and different voicelines/actors. Its honestly funny how this smaller game has more effort in their skins while ow makes it only for mythics (not even that unique too)

Paladins point card system is really cool. Makes it to where you can play characters different ways.
one of my favorite builds is the zhin bayblade
basically what you do is that you get all the minus cool down on his dash ability
then get the ultimate tha basically executes anyone hit by it
then only get the faster reload
one of zhins perk if I remember correctly is every time you hit someone with your spin the cool down gets lowered so you just spin
then go invuln
then block then spin again
until you get your ultimate back then one shot the tank
plus another thing with zhin is if you get maxed reload speed wha you can do is auto attack reload auto attack
it's faster than just regular attacks and you basically have infinite attacks
What a fine day for this release
Paladins is actually super fun, me and my mate play it sometimes when we get burnt out on Overwatch and its great. So many different characters to play and ways to play them. Also all the characters actually feel fun to play which I feel is something overwatch struggles with sometimes, **cough cough** Orisa. Yeah a lot of the abilities are copied from Overwatch but for the most part they do enough to make the characters feel different. Favourites to play are Imani, Khan, Azaan, Ruckus, Koga and Ying

A game which also has heaps of issues as I understand from my friend who's played it for most of its life, I've not played SMITE for nearly as long. Only started properly 2 years ago maybe.
@@thesnep4757 smite is very fun. It has DC issues sometimes, but not nearly as bad as paladins
Did you see what happened with ow2 when they did it and everyone hated it
Thanks for giving it a shot
This is SUCH a throwback, i remember my mains were Raum, Imani, & Io lol
man.. I had so much fun playing this on my Xbox back in the day.. I need to play it again on PC
This one was definitely an unexpected surprise but a good one tho
Sad to see that this game has such a wasted potential
FINALLY HE IS PLAYING THE ORIGINAL 5V5!
ONLY in Paladins you can run double tank as the main comp
Terminus needs very specific builds to work and it's usually best to max out movement speed first or the croud control reduction
If flats continues to play paladins, i'm here for it!!!! I've been playing paladins since 2017 and still love it today. It's so fun, especially when you play with friends.
You should try playing Marvel Rivals when the alpha comes out, I wanna know if it sucks lol
He would probably like Magik
THIS IS MY FAVORITE PALADINS RUclipsR/STREAMER THANK YOU FLATS FOR THE TRANSITION!!!! ❤❤
andrew chicken is the flats from paladins
Alot of me and my friends are moving from overwatch 2 to paladins too glad the games getting some recognition
I used to play a lot of Smite, played quite a bit of Paladins but switched over to Overwatch last year. Watching this felt very nostalgic for me and reawakened my excitement to return when Smite 2 releases.
As someone who has been playing paladins since day one, i did take a break, dont get me wrong, seeing new players is always a good sign
I'm getting too distracted by the blue furry in the corner
This could be the new Mystery Heroes Tuesday except probably not that often
I would love for you to learn the intricacies of Paladins and all the cool ass mechanics some heroes have
Can't wait to see more Terminas gameplay.
Flats can play rein and reinsucks, so he could play term who sucks too
@@kusolp544I'm pretty sure Term is in a decent spot rn. Not meta, sure, but still a good off tank
@@techwizsmith7963 i have to disagree, even as off tank there are many better options. term is just whacky without great strenght
@@kusolp544 Just because there are better options doesn't make him bad. Don't be a slave to the meta
@@techwizsmith7963 hes bad so he get outclassed by others
Yesss, dude. Paladins is actually such a good game
I would LOVE to see some more Paladins content from Flats and just see his progression through the game.
Would be awesome to see all my fav OW content creators hop over into Paladins on occassion.
PALADINS IS SO FUCKING FUN
I wish this wasnt a joke, id actually rather Paladins than OW2
I hope you get to play more! I’ve loved Paladins for many years as well as Overwatch, but I find the gameplay loop of Paladins more satisfying personally.
Speaking of paladins nostalgia my favorite combo is seris and that flying astrologer dude. Their ults together was a free teamkill everytime even tho it takes soo much skill to pull off
I love paladins, it’s like Walmart Overwatch but fun
Paladins is so much fun
I am primarily a Paladins content creator. Seeing you enjoy my fav game makes me feel very happy! Hope to see you playing more in the future!
(also BASED Raum and Imani enjoyer)
ive been playing that game since 2015 but dropped around 2020 becouse it changed drastically this is such nostalgia trip
