It’s great to be inspired by great djs and sets you on the course for discovering the lesser great songs that you can pick up on your own. I’ve been pretty much that way all my life and used to having others follow many years later.
I can still smell my girlfriend’s perfume when I hear this song .God did I/do I love that girl. The music from back then ,great the clubs were great but NYC was nuts!! back then and not always in a good way.
Now this is one of those songs that you forget about, until you hear it again, and say I’ve haven’t heard this in a long while, but remember loving it when it came out.🎶🎼🕺🏾💃🏿
One of the best underground club classics from the United Kingdom. I wish that there were still songs like this from there so close to the 2020 period.
I remember this track like it was yesterday.. 1983 flashback. Used to have a choice between having beers with the gang in the park till 10pm,or being locked out of house till 6am. Most times I chose to stay out with friends and rock the boombox till dawn!! Great old days. I really miss the 80s.
Never heard before but I’m getting this 80’s bundle off eBay and this was one off 12” records. It does def have that warm 80’s vibe and it’s from 82. Maybe this was a euro hit and not so much in the states?
In the wake of smash hits by Madonna, Blondie, Teena Marie, Mary Jane Girls, & Vanity 6, there were about 100 lesser-known & similar-sounding dance songs released around this time by various labels, to varying degrees of success
I kept this track in my head for a long time and I couldn't figure who it was that sung this track... now I know who it is... thank you for havin this track
Indeed, but the chords under the hook/chorus are from the Gino Vanelli or Bobby Caldwell ("What You Won't Do for Love") school :-) Backstory: I happened to be in the room at the NYC WB records office, when they decided to pick this up as an import for Sire Records. Madonna was signed to Sire, and oddly enough she just happened to be there that same day. She loved the lyrics and told them that if they didn't pick it up, they were "stupid"! Lol
On the Lower East Syde of new York city... Where Ramona died... Blondie... Cher... And Madonna raised... Back in the 80s this song was us sister's of multiple case anthem.... NYC... Baby
Yes this was the first version with Kimberley singing, not one of the 3 girls on the cover ever sang one note. Not sure who sang on the second version.
I imagine in 2020 this song could very well be considered politically incorrect . I am certain that a large percentage of women would cringe at the thought of being viewed , treated or referred to as a " baby doll".
I remember being in Better Days and made out with hot Brazilian Fella circa 1984 , he wasn’t gay and I was straight but we found completeness amongst the fray
Is this your own recording from this vinyl? If so, I'm wondering why this says "original version 1982" when the vinyl label clearly says "Special US Remix" and has a publication date of 1983. In any case, thanks for posting!
@@ash27slick74 Close. The "original" was an import...on Virgin. Sire picked up the import, when the Warner Brothers Dance department's A&R person played it for Richard Gottehrer.
@@bourgeoisbrats You might be right but I was actually in the New York City Record Pool and I have this song on a white Sire label that reads: NOT FOR SALE PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY. This was in 1982. The song did well in the clubs so when it was released to the public, I purchased two 12-inch singles from Vinyl Mania in Greenwich Village since I liked the song so much. Good day.....
@@ash27slick74 Yes...I was in New York, also. In fact, I worked at Billboard (1515 Broadway) and was there when the person from Warner Brothers (who's name you already know, because you were in the record pool) played the import, and told us they (Sire) were picking it up. Same with "White Horse", by Laid Back :-)
NYC radio used to blast this great song in the 80’s……..funky beat, fine ass girl singers and a jam that will always sounds good in speakers 🔊!!!
i love this song. Brings back a lot of memories.
Thank-you!
Those were good times, they dont make songs like this anymore
Love the 80s artists
I was in NYC at the Paradise garage
People kept screaming

Found an old 80s cassette and this song was on it. I even had the 45. It’s one of those songs you completely forgot existed yet you know every word.
I'm in the same boat. Had it on pre-mixed cassette and now found it! Miss the 80's dancing songs!!!

I haven’t heard this song since the early 80’s
I'm getting Blondie "Rapture" vibes and Vanity 6 vibes.

Here is a song that you could not help but dance.
Original version? Didn't know there was any other version but this
Yes this was the first version with Kimberley singing, not one of the 3 girls on the cover ever sang one note. Not sure who sang on the second version.
This is much more cooler than hokey rapture.
True. Rapture was a failed playgirism disaster. It chartered well but the rap was wet ass.
The song used to rock the funhouse jellybean would put the bass all the way up you feel your stomach you actually feel your old hag
happy for u kim

Nice I heard of Better Days but never got the chance to go
I was at the G every Friday night tho
what is a moo moo house? I still don't know.
Dean Anderson Moo Moo House are sex clubs.
Okay, that's good to know. But do you know why that's the name? Is it because the women there are considered cows, or something like that?
Dean Anderson the moo moo is street slang for strippers or sex workers wearing revealing lingerie or outfits

sexy has NOT been re-written...............trust me

The original recording was on Sire records released as an import in 1982. This is the U.S. release approximately 9 months later on a domestic label.
ASH27 Slick sire records is a domestic label. Virgin is the import
