I used a mixture of things to make the creepy background audio in the start; I think the one you're referring to is a phone ringing SFX, pitched down as low as it can go, with tremolo/vibrato effects to make it go up and down. the idea was to sound like a heartbeat, but dying dog breathing works too

I've never tried any kind of keyboard controls for it, I just edit the hex codes. Programming experience helped keep a mental handle on it all
