Are NRG Wheels REALLY Bad? (Install on Skyline GTR R34)

- I recently picked up everything I needed to install the NRG quick release hub, wheel and lock onto my R34 GTR. The main idea is for security, otherwise I'd keep the stock wheel. I think it looks great, but are the wheels cheaply made?

Has enough money to buy a 50k BNR34, not enough to spend £250 on a genuine Nardi. I dont get it, importing all that from the US probably cost more than just getting a nardi from driftworks
last time i checked, a BNR34 was around 90K (EU) and this makes it even worse

4 doors are normally ER34s or HR34s depending on the engine.
ER being RB25s and HRs being RB20s with BNR/BCNRs having the RB26s

You can find a lot of examples of them breaking when a dumbass pulls on it for a video, but you won't find any example of them breaking while driving.
I'd also like to tell you they're designed to break in case of a crash, they're not real racing wheels because NRG is fully aware that people put them in street cars so they're designed to bend if you hit your head on it instead of cracking your fucking skull.
@@imnota They are designed to break? no they are just cheaply made, good quality wheels don't bend easily and they don't fall apart if they bend, go watch the video from ThatDudeinBlue and you'll see how easy the wheel rim comes off the spokes, that is the last thing you would want in a crash.

Jon m He has commitments other than his car. He doesn’t need to splash out a chunk of cash for a Nismo wheel. Also I’m pretty sure the car is financed so he didn’t just straight up throw £60k to get the car.

I've never had an NRG wheel but I've had a bunch of NRG products including seats, hubs quick releases etc. Pretty much everything NRG makes except a wheel. Really impressed with the quality, never had any problems with anything.

This was one of my favourite mods to my Skyline. The deep dish wheel + the quick release AND my bucket seat made my whole driving position and driving experience change for the better 😁
Although I spent aaaaaaages doing trial & error because my steering wheel was slightly off centre when driving in a straight line. Happy days after I sorted that out! (10 tries later) 😂

The yellow plug isn’t for hicas it’s for the airbag and steering wheel sensor all cars have the plug unless it’s from the 40’s

I had the NRG snap off and locking hub for my EG6 SiR. Quality piece of kit, although I am not a fan of their wheels. I would have went for a Nardi.

the hub is great, the wheel on the other hand, i mean, it will be okay but id deffo look at getting a Nardi / Personal / Vertex

The NRG hubs and quick releases are very good quality, theyre not the absolute best, but my quick release has never failed me in a year, i do not have an NRG wheel tho, i have seen them break and i have seen the rims come off the spokes of NRG wheels

If I was to buy a steeringwheel I would definetly go for a Momo Montecarlo in general because I think it suits most cars beautifuly .
For a R34 in perticular I guess I'd get a Jet or maybe even a Quark

I’m almost certain that lock isn’t needed because the ignition already has a steering lock system that requires the ignition key to unlock it

Please Do Short Film about your GTR-32
I have an NRG short hub and quick release but never seen that locking hub before, gotta get one of those asap! NRG is an entry level brand, better than all that generic chinese stuff you can find on 3b@y or @m@z0n but it's definitely not on par with Sparco or Momo quality. Btw I got the same short hub and QR as yours but in metallic blue, they've hold for more than a couple of years with no issues so far.
You should also check out vertex wheels
