"Inverse probability" is a fantastic addition. Hopefully this will be added to the DB-01 as well :) And of course with chromatic control the Perkons becomes a massive drone synth monster.
The midi tuning is great but this is such a beautiful standalone instrument that it seems a shame to need to bring out a midi controller. My feature suggestion would be to have an option where you can set a scale for the device (shared across all 4 voices). After which, the tune knobs would be quantized. You could then input quick in key tunes by recording the motion of the tune knobs. This seems like it would be true to the spirit of this wonderful machine!
Really nice update indeed. The odds reverse is super helpfull and the new pcm voice sounds very juicy. Also loving the new bbd setting but it’d be nice to also be able to sync the delay to musical values
I love the way this machine sounds so much. Wishing and hoping that you will release a smaller, more affordable version of these algos/ engines that I can sequence externally and use my Faderfox knobs with.
Not sure if it has anything to do with the update, but this jam sounds much more usable then the usuall industrial chaos people are pulling out of this one.
Be warned my kits sounded different after the update. Primarily I noticed that voice 1 was pitched super low when I loaded my previous kits. This is serious issue for anyone who has carefully tuned and build kits for a live performance. Please backup before you update! Don't Do What Donny Don't Does. :(
I can't stand on sidelines anymore. Just purchased one. Great device, great update! My only wish for this device is to have a per-step, timing micro adjustment / offset. One possible method that could work maybe SHIFT+SHUFFLE and then use the steps to shift each voice from middle where by default timing shift is off and each step moves the step forwards or backwards by 1/16th of step length based on which step is pressed, relative to center. For instance: Press SHIFT+SHUFFLE and on first row press step #5 on row 1 to shift whole voice to start earlier by 1/4th of the step length (since 4 steps from center is 4 times 1/16th). Something like this I think could be simple and stay true to the Perkons workflow simplicity
What a gift!! Thank you Erica Synths for your generosity. I just picked up last week and have really connected with the workflow. So much gratitude 🙏🏽, yes scale mode would be dope for all four voices. Hahaha couldn’t help myself ❤
Fantastic update but..... You can't fine tune notes on the Perkons (the tuning on all voices is stepped making many notes on the 440 based chromatic scale impossible to hit) The midi triggered chromatic pitches are relative to the tune knob value so if that value is off by a few cents, the whole scale follows. Still very difficult to use as a melodic device when working with existing production material. Still SUPER fun though!
Hi Erica Synths! Cool update. I just wanted to share that if you change the first timestamp to 00:00 instead of 00:02, RUclips will create chapters that you can interact with in the timeline. This is suuuper helpful from a RUclips user experience perspective. :) I wanted to jump around to different parts and didn't realize you had chapters because you didn't start it with 00:00 at the beginning.
Thank you Erica for these are awesome additions, but even more exciting is the thought that this may have opened the gates to more future firmware updates and we'll see alternate voices and/or algos offered?
@@EricaSynths Excellent news! How about a Perkons black edition? I've seen quite a few people requesting this so no problems when it comes to interest/sales :)
I literally just got mine a couple days ago and I'm barely 50% competent on all the functionality, but this looks amazing! I wonder how you select which channel to record to though? Did I miss something?
Set MIDI mode to multi-channel and you can program notes into the sequencer either by playing them live and recording or by pressing the desired step button and then sending in the MIDI note. Voice 1 = MIDI CH1, Voice 2 = MIDI CH2 etc.
Do I need a CC capable keyboard to trigger the tuning of the note ? It seems that the basic keystep doesn't send Midi CC but Keystep 37 does, even though in this video you seem to be using the basic keystep ??
Anyone know how to get a Volca drum to sync out to this thing. I've set the Perkons to analogue clock source since the Drum is the master clock. I also have the perkons ppq set to 4 since the Drum clock sends out 2 stp but can be switched to 1 stp. I have not tried 1 stp but as things now stand i can't get the Drum to start and stop the perkons hd01 to play in sync. Could really use some sage advice.
The sync function on the Volcas is for syncing other Volcas (and some other Korg gear) only. You have to use midi for all others (unless you use utility modules). Hope this helps you…
Sorry but adding a midi keyboard is not something that is good for this excellent machine, I was hoping for another type of solution for this, thanks anyway

I’m super excited to get this update but I agree with you, that would be awesome!
Have they addressed the impossibility to fine tune notes?
There are many wonderful harmonies to be discovered if you leave 12TET behind and embrace discoveries found while working with continuous tuning 🙂
Shame? Lol😂😂😂😂😂

this is an amazing update, this machine just got 100x more fun!

truth. the perkons would be a huge trip/hop hip/hop beast if it’s full potential was discovered

Inverse Odds!!!!! Yes 👏
You listened!! Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Fantastic, now gels BEAUTIFULLY with the Blast Beats! You’ve just made it more fun :) thank you
This is such a cool update and an awesome video.
Go Erica Synths! Great stuff! Just got the Perkons, it has a great hands-on experience and sounds powerful! Love it!
Great timing!
Great to see an update coming 👍
New features ❤
@1:46 is a shout out to SBTRKT and Little Dragon: Wildfire. Good one 👍🏾
That dub tech track was gnar
🙌🙌 "This update adds chromatic tuning of the voices" 🙌🙌

Take NOTE of this great update!
Sick updates! This things shreddddds
Amazing thanks
chromatic tuning is a big one, 808 basslines etc
Really is a fantastic new feature! No more randomly tuned kicks!
Love this update 🔥🔥🔥🥳👏👏👏🫵🤘

Amazing update, thank you!
Excelent update! I have my MIDI on one channel but chromatic tuning is a great addition, so I'll move to multi channel... Scales maybe in the future?
4:58 ...what in the world that was incredible
Thank You!
Awesome 🤩 thank you so much! ❤
This guy Perkons!
His name is definitely Russ.
amazing
I watched half of this before I realized it was playing at 1.5x 😂
Still hoping for a shortcut that will allow for launching of the sequencers independently of one another
❤❤❤
Love It.
Pretty Nice.

@@EricaSynths Yes this. I'd also buy a black version of the Perkons in a heartbeat!
@@EricaSynths… yes much more interested in black version as well!
OMG at EFFING LAST .......sheeeeeet!!!!
Moving in the direction of Jomox Alpha Base capabilites, but still less capable and flexible and sounds a loy more lofi to me.
Omggggg
Looking forward to Steampipe....
Can the sequencer manage different time signature ?
Like 9/8 or else instead of classic standard and basic 4/4 ?
Which means it can manage poly-rhythm
4:55 (Numbers-esque!)

When i set the "save FX with Kits" setting to on the BBD LFO is no longer working.
waiting for an update for the Steampipe, how the hell can you be silent for half a year on a product that you showed?
That thing is sexy
Any chance I can sync the time of delay?
No but the LFO mod is syncable and you can mod Fx send and/or Level for some interesting movement.
Hyped thank you!!!
Can anyone demo the inverse odds feature I don’t quite get it.
@@davidrupture8892Go to config, set inverse odds to on, exit configuration, go to regular mode, hold any step press any odds1 or odds2 amount, done
Lower price and sell WAY MORE….honestly

How about an explanation video?
Thank you 😊
