I lost my wife of 20 years and we both had the same dream of walking along the beach together in Kona and we never made it. I hope she is there and I look forward to joining her when my time comes. Love you forever KBHA.

My sister had been battling cancer and the family was playing Hawaiian music for her all the time in the final days since it is where we all grew up. She took her last breath right after this song ended and is now walking the white sandy beach with our dad just waiting for the rest of us as our time comes. We carry Aloha in our hearts always.

@@turtlez4318 I've been here in blessed Hawai'i for almost 50 years. Mostly Big Island. but spent 6 years on beloved Kaua'i. All this time after my first month here, with the same man. (He's a keeper, & I guess he decided I am too~ lucky me!) Always have loved Hawai'ian music. The vintage stuff. And the wonderful music from the 7os known as Hawaiian Renaissance because it was a cultural rebirth for Hula & the music, redone by a younger generation~ along with original stuff from that younger gen, which paid great homage to the beautiful, original long-loved music to the Hawai'ian people=becoming also part of the lives of non-Hawai'ians, aka "Hawai'ian at heart". That's the great era of creativity I was so fortunate to arrive here during! And wow~ like others have said, music has such power to bring people together. Especially when that music has such a foundation of a spiritual nature. Like Hawai'ian culture really is.

I was blessed in my life another way. My dad was in the USAF, an officer, but most importantly~ a pilot. We got to experience some of the world's other great cultures, after 3 years in the then-Territory of Hawai'i. I was very little then, he was stationed @ Hickam Air Base on O'ahu. Later when I was 9 my dad was stationed @ Torrejon AFB outside of Madrid. For 3 years he drove the Mercedes he bought there all over the Continent so we could be imbued with the astonishing culture of those countries. We camped out mostly, & that was wonderful. Or we'd stay at little pensiones: inns, etc. having such lovely food, meeting the people, trying out the language. We all walked MILES through museums, castles(!) & ruins, because the culture was so important to my dad. (Seeing the great masterpieces of art!) He collected the folk music of all the lands we visited---we listened to it for many years after returning to USA. My dad could've stayed a poor white trash in Georgia, where he was born into such a proscribed existence. He reached for something different. He made it happen, through focus, and hard work. He not only never got anything handed to him~ he had to work very diligently for it. He was the smartest person I ever knew! I wish I could've talked to him one more time. He died Dec. 3rd 2021~ just a month ago~ @ the age of 93! Now you know why I'm talking so long about the life he gave us kids, & his wife--our mother.
Humanity really is one family~ something some vultures want to turn us away from & deny. Love for one another threatens the god-like position they've decided they're right to inhabit. But GOD'S intent, BRILLIANTLY wired into every quark of every atom of every cell, of every being is LOVE (with the possible exception of these who currently seem to represent anti-Christ). An unstoppable Force not merely of HUMAN feelings, which along with the amazing animal & plant Kingdoms, are born of it and can't help but reflect it~ but too, of the doing, creating, the urge for joining together caused by it= that ineffable force extant thanks to what's aka BEING, plus that little under-rated thing known as electro-magnetism. POWER!! (not at all belittling ANY feelings human individuals have, because in whatever way love is expressed/experienced~ there's power! So too in its obverse, weirdly, is power to be found. (But oh, Lord. Not a happy thought!) I'll venture to say FEELING itself IS also one of the forces, we can add that to the list. When purely motivated, meaning not motivated by ego. Although, no doubt even when motivated by selfishness, there's power contained therein, too. Just consider it misappropriated...& destructive. And not (as I personally see things) pleasing to God. Although all things serve God's plan, just in ways we are too limited to understand. So apparently this highly convoluted stream of consciousness has led me & anyone reading it, back to this--the only thing we know for sure? Is IZ~~still IS! lol.

My mother passed away when I was 6. Im currently 18 and im leaving to boot camp in 6 days for the marines. This reminds me of her and hope to make her proud. 🙏

I recently found out about him for the first time.
I picked up a ukulele by chance and started playing it, and learned about IZ from a magazine for ukulele beginners.
I recently lost my job and was in despair, but IZ has been a great comfort.
I bought his CD, ukulele sheet music, and a book about him. His songs are timeless and bring joy to people.

I got over the shock of being fired because of his amazing singing voice.
I was unemployed when I wrote my last comment, but now I have a job at the music room.
So I would like to teach my ukulele students about Iz someday.
I would like to pay tribute to Big Boy, who supported me through a difficult time, and tell more people about him.
I have a facingfuture album cover as a poster on the wall near my ukulele, and I like it because it makes the room feel like a calm atmosphere.
Also, I am attracted not only to his singing voice, but also to his character. His cool demeanor, the way he laughs, the way he smiles, the way he interacts with people, and the fact that he has such a big body (He died prematurely because of it) is all attractive!!
I love all music in the world. Among them he is one of the best singers.
Sorry for the long sentence. Anyway, even if the times change, I will remember his songs👒🏝

Yes, it's a place to take lessons. Students take lessons about three times a month.
Of course, not only ukuleles, but also vocals, pianos, electones, guitars, basses, saxophones, violins, and more.
While working as a receptionist, I talk to students about music, do clerical work, and answer the phone.
I play guitar and ukulele during breaks, but IZ's songs are still difficult. It seems that IZ skipped class and practiced the ukulele for a long time under the tree in the schoolyard. Although he seems to play easily, I think he is quite attractive as a ukulele player!

My wife left me this past year. It was the most painful thing I had ever went through. I stayed in our empty house and waited for her return but she never returned. I was born after you passed Bruddah Iz, but ever since I heard you sing, I've felt like I've known you my entire life. You brought everyone so much in such a short span of time. An angelic voice, a beautiful heart, another reason to connect with each other, and an unrivaled love for everyone who you interacted with. Yourself and Louis Armstrong. The two I can think of that lived and died as beautiful and commendable as anyone could ever aspire. Even in the disintegration of our society as we know it, life is grand. The good die young, but they leave behind a reminder to be good.

Earlier this year, I bought a ukulele and started learning how to play via RUclips instructional videos. YT's algorithms suggested Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, and now I have fallen in love with his music and his voice. I am so glad to have discovered him.

Never heard of Israel Kamakawio before, it wasn't until I visited Honolulu and learned about their rich history and culture did I learn about his songs and the meaning and purpose of them all. I'm in love with his songs and listen to them now, as they make me sleep well, and also the songs he sings come from the heart.

My much, much beloved aunt passed in 2016 from ALS, when we had some quiet time, as she was actively dying, she asked me to pull this song and video up. She said when she passes this where she was going to be. We returned her to her white sandy beach in Hawaii in 2021 (she was born there and wanted to return there), when I miss her to come to the beach and she will be all around. I’ve needed her so much these last few weeks, I need her presence, I need to feel her waves of love just hold me. 🤍
