    Ive owned this amp since the 90s I believe. Still have it. Its one of 5 amps.A couple of things. The foot padel gives 9 banks of 4 presets each. All editable. You can also turn certain effects on and off with it. Next. The amp selector dial has 1-16 amp models. If you hold the tap switch down and turn the selector you get 17-32. With the effects selector, if you hold down tap and turn the switch you can change the cabinets for the amp you are on.. 6 o clock is off. turning clockwise you have a 1x8, 4- 1x12, 4- 2x12, 2- 4x10, and 4- 4x12. Try to get a hold of the manuel. It describes all the amp types as well as everything else.

      Thanks, @robertartese808, i appreciate the info. I was strongly considering getting one of the footswitches, as you can generally find them for around $100. I'll see if i can find one locally and update as I go!

      @@tjkcivic Im on my second footswitch. The 1st one crapped out. You have to be careful with the RJ 45 heads on the footswitch cable also. I bought my replacement from Line 6. I don't remember how much it was. Anyway, Enjoy ~!

    The jazz clean is a Roland-jc 120. Small Tweed is a52 Fender Deluxe Tweed blues is 59 Fender Bassman Black Panel is a65 Fender Deluxe. Let me know if theres something else you like that you want to know. And right on with the Brit Class A is a 63 AC-30 with top boost. Brit Blues is a 65 Marshall jtm-45 Brit classic-68 Marshall plexi 50 watt. You can tweek some of those to get really great sounds. Play with the drive etc

    This is an excellent amp. Plenty of people gigged with it back in the day and still do. Doubt any of you can tell the difference between this 20 year old amp and a new Catalyst.

    • @tjkcivic
      @tjkcivic  Год назад

      Thanks for the comment @user-os3ko9fw3c! I agree, this amp is 100% giggable, and has tones for days! I haven't plugged into the new Catalyst, but what i do know is that it is a DSP based amp, which is what the Flextone line was, but they have updated the sound profiles to be more modern and higher quality overall. I wouldn't be surprised if the Catalyst has a similar brain, but updated to modern sounds. Either way, it should be a great amp!

    This amp really shines with clean tones. The tweed and blackface models sound the best and the true stereo makes the modulation effects sound lush. High gain tones sound pretty dated now but the clean tones hold up to the Helix stuff.

    • @tjkcivic
      @tjkcivic  Год назад +2

      Thanks, Blastofo, you nailed it. the cleans are timeless, the high gain tones feel like mid-2000s sounds, but they're still fun to mess around with!!

    Im actually a keyboard player, I just ended up with one of these. Comment not mentioned about rotary speaker: You hear it used with Hammond organs all the time -- most dramatically the gradual speed up and slow down of the turning of the speaker while holding a chord or note. YOU CAN DO THIS with this amp by tapping the tempo button twice!

    • @tjkcivic
      @tjkcivic  4 месяца назад +1

      Nice suggestion, @garycitro1674! i hadn't even thought about that, but that makes a ton of sense. the leslie sound is cool with guitar, but waaaay cooler with a Hammond or Rhodes! Thanks for the comment!

  • @AnthonyBeebout
    @AnthonyBeebout Год назад +2

    I don’t normally do this but I want to comment on your rotary explanation. Rotary speakers gained popularity in a number of 60s/70s organs/electric pianos. While rotary was active, the speaker house literally rotated in circles. The effect is simply gained by way of the speaker’s directional oscillation. It’s not a matter of noise or phase cancellation it’s simply the fact that the speaker is pointing at you vs not pointing at you and the effect you get with it rotating. This effect is also the likely reason why this amp is stereo vs mono.

    • @tjkcivic
      @tjkcivic  Год назад +1

      Oh man! that's a bummer, to my knowledge that's the only way to turn this amp on and off. You could just plug it into a power strip and use that as your on/off. I don't understand why they made the switch so small on these!

    Leslie speakers were rotating. That amp imitates the Doppler effect. And the 'backwards' note.

I understand that's not for everyone, but that's my approach. There are plenty of guys who can play on the internet, I'm just better at talking, so that's what i do. I wish you the best in your guitar endeavors.
