That's Hunter Island in Pelham Bay Park- know it well. The large rock on the left is a landmark known as Gray Mare as It resembles a horse. It was supposedly a sacred place in Indian folklore. Great vid as usual !!
Great camera work. Everything that needed to be seen was seen clean and clear, notwithstanding the great distance between you and the fire. Terrific job, as always.
John, The ffs of Marine 4 hit the beach & laid a hand line. I am sure that they wanted to use the monitor, but the current wasn't helping. They didn't want to get stuck or rip the bottom of the boat. But they Got er Done!!! Score one for the FDNY NAVY ⚓👍👍👍
John, my fire company has been fighting brush fires for many years, we get them often. We use forestry hose, it's small, light and easy to move around in the woods. I live at the base of the Adirondack mountains. Thanks John for another great video.
I spent a few hours on the fire line fighting wildfires. The problem with little wildfires is they get big very fast. Kudos to FDNY marine for knocking this one down before it took off. It could have given a whole new meaning to “The Bronx is Burning.” Great video John.
John great video we could see really good.. Thank you.Why didn't they drive the boat closer when they were spraying good as they could have gotten the fire out quickly. It was really interesting to see a different aspect of FDNY ---Debbie
Good camera work John, considering the distance across the water. It was good to see something we don't see everyday like the Marine Units knocking down a small brush fire. I'm glad they were able to reach it. Great job as usual and on 0131. See you on the other side.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. It is always interesting to see the FDNY and many different skills they have. (At least you guys aren't hungry. 😁 )
In my area a brush fire turns into a wildfire crews are out for days sleeping on the ground, total towns or communities end up turning to ash and rubble. Add high winds, heat up in the 90s to 100 degrees drought conditions tight winding roads I fought my share of brush fires on Long Island, but these guys in the west are amazing.
Between some shoals and water levels too low for the boat to draft safely, they sometimes need to be creative in how they extinguish certain fires along the shore.
very interesting, I was thinking if the land nearby was walkable, why not get out and go look at the fire, but its always fun trying with the big gun first.
I believe that all the smaller marine units like this one have a 1" line. Marine 1 has 1", 1.5" and 2" hand lines they can stretch. Correct me if I'm wrong.
It would probably be easier to deploy a portable pump on the boat and some firefighters with lines from the boat. But I'm not a Firefighter so *shrug.*
Awesome! I've often wondered how fire-boats (what was your word--marine something or other??) actually function. I never know what new thing I'm going to learn from your channel. Thanks!
that easily could have been picked up with some boots on the ground ,hand tools and a back pump. i hope that they got it all this way. im only a few minutes into the vid, but as an exfirefighter, mostly wildland in california, but it also needs to have line cut around it to ensure no further spread.
that boats that has "pump out" on the side pupms out floating outhouses, and empties the black "shit" tanks from boats, i hired one every week when we lived on a houseboat.

John - You went to Da Bronx, and for once you found an FDNY job WITHOUT a blocked fire hydrant. 👍
HEHEHE! YES I DID AND I FOUND A FIRE WITH ALL THE WATER IN THE WORLD TO USE.....HAHAHA! THANKS SO MUCH.....
I think that they are going to need a bigger boat. Good work as always brother and one question where the RAC at.
On marine unit for 10 years. Alot of time we were the only unit that could get to wooded places. JJ you could have swam to the other side😂 🚒👍🚒👍
HEHEHE! I WOULD HAVE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Man a small pump and a brush line and the job is done. $200,000 boat to fix a $500.00 problem.😂
I guess the boat was allergic to the fire I don't understand why I couldn't have pulled right up to it and shot the water ride on
Between some shoals and water levels too low for the boat to draft safely, they sometimes need to be creative in how they extinguish certain fires along the shore.
Yeah, they should have “shot the water ride on.”
very interesting, I was thinking if the land nearby was walkable, why not get out and go look at the fire, but its always fun trying with the big gun first.
Great video jj
THANKS SO MUCH NAYAN.....
New boat? Just learning to use it? Just go dump a bucket of water on it😂🤦♀️
💯 your best video ever!
HAHA.....
We kayak that area all the time. The Pelham side is Glen Island park.
IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL UP THERE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Interesting. Different aspect of firefighting. It appears a tree always blocks the angle of attack.
YES, IT DID BLOCK IT A BIT.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Extreeeeemly rare catch jj
SORT OF AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Thank you. Parts of NYC we don't know about. Looks like where I live.
YOUR WELCOME AND YES INDEED.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
That’s New Rochelle police new marine unit. Your right on the boarder of Bronx / New Rochelle that’s why they are there
Nice catch John, Where are they getting the water source from, I don't see them hooked up to a hydrant?
Never a dull moment
I AGREE RICHARD.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Frolicking is strictly prohibited! Thanks for the tour.
HEHEHE! YOUR WELCOME AND THANKS SO MUCH ANTHONY.....
Nice job! Another interesting video. No RAC? 👍🏻👍🏻👨🏼🚒
YES AND NO RAC NEEDED.....PLENTY OF WATER ALL AROUND.....HEHEHE! THANKS SO MUCH.....
I believe that all the smaller marine units like this one have a 1" line. Marine 1 has 1", 1.5" and 2" hand lines they can stretch. Correct me if I'm wrong.
JJ the fire boat probably was trying to wet the area around the fire to keep it from spreading 🔥
That boat is from the city New Rochelle N.Y. in westchester county
YES AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Something different for a change...
I AGREE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
no water supply problems at this one!
NOPE....HEHEHE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Maybe four People could pee it out lol They making a extra show for you
HAHAHA! QUITE FRANKLY THEY DID NOT KNOW I WAS THERE.....BUT, THANKS SO MUCH.....
Well, at least there is no lack of water.
HAHA! I HEAR YA.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Other boat, New Rochelle Police?
YES.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
We need to land on the ground, run hose and get in there and sweep that fire base. I think a five gallon bucket would be effective.
This must have been some kind of training exercise.
NOPE....JUST A SMALL BRUSH FIRE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Wow nice equipment 👍 now it would be cool to have a boat that could be like a pumper truck for those hard to get to areas off water.
It would probably be easier to deploy a portable pump on the boat and some firefighters with lines from the boat. But I'm not a Firefighter so *shrug.*
We came and we saw like you have said not every fire is spectacular hope you are well my friend 2N2 25:05
YES INDEED RUSH.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
You would think they would carry a section or two of hose and connect to the deck gun ?
👍👍👍👊👊
THANKS SO MUCH.....
Awesome! I've often wondered how fire-boats (what was your word--marine something or other??) actually function.
I never know what new thing I'm going to learn from your channel. Thanks!
😂you were pretty funny today 😅
WELL, I HAD TO MAKE UP SOMETHING TO KEEP YOU GUYS INTERESTED.....HEHEHE! THANKS SO MUCH.....
Pissing on a camp fire isn't really too interesting. Slow day at FDNY?
You are just having a different kind of BBQ for your holiday. :)
HEHEHE! THANKS SO MUCH.....
Well, this is a different setting, grab your fishing poles boys and bring the beer and a boat. LOL.
HAHAHA! I SHOULD HAVE GONE FISHING.....NEVER EVER DONE YET IN MY LIFE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Thsts Wayne UP near westcuester
COOL AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
John on the spot. No pun intended. 😂. Nice catch
HAHAHA! THAT IS A GOOD ONE AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....

Geez.
YUP AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
I'm kinda disappointed in their performance !
WHY?
Pump out is for boats that need their toilet holding tanks emptied. Also someone tell me what body of water it is! It’s not a lake. That’s a fact
