Christof Koch had one recently. He's had conversations about it with Bernardo Kastrup and Brian Greene, both of which you can find on RUclips. I found the latter conversation especially interesting.
I'm trying to be polite in my response... At 25.00 I realized that for more than 10 minutes I've been listening to one of the subjects that interests me the most and yet I understand almost nothing of what he says. It's easier for me to understand parts of quantum theory...
I have come to an understanding that we are all situated in own own universe. What I mean is that our individual perceptions create a version of what are infinite realities. Part of my awakening has been to experience and communicate with angels. I encounter many people who do not of course. We appear to be living in a shared reality. We both experience trees and chairs. Not always in the same ways however.
5:15 For me it was accepting the unknown as unknown with a curiosity to discover more about what isn’t known making all assumptions just potentials. It was very freeing and honest for me.
"the organism isn't something separate to the rest of the universe." Come on now, you should know better than that. The dependent co-arising takes place inside of your head! It's Indra's Net. It's your organic neural network. It's consciousness only (Yogachara). The dependencies are all neural connections. "Direct pointing at the human mind. Seeing one’s nature and becoming Buddha.” - Bodhidharma
IMHO mind evolved from no mind. God is everything. God is equally all of us. God is me and you and a dog named blue but we are not God. I am not everything and everyone.
18:10 so materially the potential for consciousness exists in inanimate objects or all matter as we know it. But does life bring consciousness or is this another state of material existence. A spectrum of potential of mater having consciousness overlapping levels of life forms?
You can look at it as there is only one thing. It is us. It is everything. It is not divisible. We don't exist as a separate being. God is not in us; we are in God. God alone exists.
@ I don’t like using identifiers for unknowns. They create hurdles of thought that limit understanding for me. The term god for instance has many different meanings, a consciousness for one, that have no evidence to support the assumptions, but the idea is embedded within the term god. That identifier is unnecessary for this discussion imo.
Thank you- fascinating I can’t see monism in this. It seems dualistic. There remain here two realities- that of nature and that of mind. The rock has no consciousness. It is not like a rock in my dream, which has my consciousness- it doesn’t appear in consciousness, but in nature and the two intertwine but are essentially different. Right?
I argue that it is exactly the rock that is now conscious. There is no dualism. There is only physicality. This means there is no preexisting all powerful God.
Does anthroposophy fill, in great detail, gaps between the unity-non-dual experience and science? For example a non-dual scientist tends to take physics prima facie and interprets those concepts into non-dial ones. What if the relation between unity and experience had a value to both and spoke of a subtle and cosmo-personal development of life which can illuminate the life of rocks too. For if unity demonstrates life it seems strange to me that this life cannot unite in rocks too.
Excellent! So good to hear this! Going beyond idealism is a 'correct' move, in my opinion, too. And I think there is another step to make, indicated by Jefferey. Acknowledgment (experience) of the supernormal-paranatural shows that Cartesian incoherence, c.f. the 'absurd', needs to be included in the monist overview. Or, the non-dual path incorporates dualism! Science and spirituality, yes, but also soul-psi-ufo, etc. at the dynamic, co-creative edge negotiating between bottom-up causality and top-down teleology. :)
The whole AI talk is so far fetched. Not worth listening to. Does ChatGPT think what would happen if it didn’t deliver results ? No. It has no consciousness. Done. Can we go back focusing on hard problem on consciousness and human brain before we speculate about other stuff

We need more neuroscientists who have a spiritual awakening.

Consciousness became matter.
I think this is not true at all. peace!

I wish I had known about James Cooke before. This man is fascinating. I could listen to him all day.
He describes the God of Sikhism. God is not in us; we are in God. Everything is in God. God alone is real. God is who we are.

What a topic! Thanks Jeff

Can dig…
Consciousness form matters not other way around, and they are not separate things.

I need a clear mind to listen to this!
Boy, me too!
I will revisit this in the future 🙂
@@peacelovejoy8786 yes, well worth a revisit

Good interview
Yes! Call it the koan of blind faith? (I don't think that would have worked for me,(
I find him very difficult to follow. All the examples he gives etc.

I am also a monist. Mind must be an object somehow. Thoughts must be some type of object. There is only the one object. We can call it God.
This reminds me of the Donning Krüger Effekt.

lol but true that
It's interesting, but I think this is just tarted up religion.
