- hey guys!! today's video is all about me starting my first week back at uni and writing my first 2,500 word essay for 2020. hope you enjoy.

I wrote my master thesis of 90 pages in 4 days. Did not sleep or take a break other than for the bathroom. I had done all the reading, planning and it had been brewing in my mind but I procrastrinated to a whole new level on the writing. It was the most traumatic experience of my life. I did get a good grade in the end but the level of stress was horrible. Don't do as I did, guys!

The other day I wrote an essay (1,700 words) in 3 hours. That even felt like I was rushed. Can't imagine doing more than that! You go girl.
Honestly, I'd prefer having an essay every 5 days. At my uni, I get one essay per semester, plus exams - so if I mess either one up, I'm screwed. But if you get lots of essays, you can mess up one or two and still be fine
p.s. that one essay is per module, and I have five modules, so after the first three weeks back, it's one essay per week and then exam prep as well
We have approximately three-five essays per semester (a little longer than 2500 words) and a portfolio and a research project. Even though that seems manageable, it's quite a lot... I do agree with you, if you have more essays you have more opportunities to get better grades.

I can write 2000 words in an hour
I did it last semester for all my essays and I got really high marks as well. But it’s probably cause I had all my research done and everything ready to go so I knew everything I needed to type and the info came to me easily
Yeah that's the thing, I tried to write my 2000 word research essay in a few hours as well... Could write a the words, but hadn't done the research so it wasn't enough time after all 😅
It takes me 6 hours to type a 2000 word essay -_-

There is such a difference between scientific writing and creative writing. If I have my notes and research done, I can do 2000 words in 5-6 hours. If not, it can take days or even a week. Creative writing is so quick, I can do 6000 words in a day if I am on a roll.

The thing is, a lot of people work better when their brain is out under pressure. It’s why, when I was in school, I always preferred exams to coursework. Exams you have 1 hour to complete and coursework, what, 3 months. Whereas, other people prefer (and do better) at taking time to complete things.

Hey Vee, quick question, have you ever not submit an assignment in time before?
What are the consequences of not submitting an assignment ?
Tamara not sure about Oxford but I go UCL and 10% of your marks are deducted if your submission is up to 48 hours late, capped at a pass (if it’s deemed worthy of a pass) if it’s 2-5 days late and only 1 mark awarded if it’s more than 5 days late. So yeah late submissions are not ideal😭
I go to an University in Australia, here 5% is deducted for everyday it is late, after the fifth day it is an automatic 0% fail. One time, I has an assignment due at 11.59pm, I handed it in at 12.13am and still lost 5% even though it was only late by less than 15 minutes. Was a bit rough.
It seems like it’s different for all unis - maybe check the uni your at/applying too. I’m at the Uni of Sussex and there you get 5% deducted from the mark if it is handed in late in the first 24hours. Day 2-7 it is 10%. After a week you are no longer able to hand the assessment in.
I'm at ucl and its 10% deducted in 48 hours. Im currently a day late 💔
I am studying in the UK and at my uni, your late assignments won't be marked. Even when your teachers mark those, the educational department or something won't accept it. Technically, you have to study those courses again.

Idk how you do this. But Im glad my bio major doesn't require essays. Just a buncha lab reports and I guess essays sometimes but they're more research stuff on experiments we do

Vee, I am glad that you were able to finish your 2,500 essay and submit it on time. Are all your essays submitted online? There is no way that I could write an essay in the day which it was due. I always started writing my essays two weeks or even 12 days before it was due because I found essay writing so difficult. I even had extensions because I got local tutors in my area to proofread my work. Essay writing was my weakest point in academic study. How did your exam go?
That's tough, man. I think I (and probably Vee) take for granted that we can procrastinate and still get good grades.

I think that both of you are amazing and excellent that you can write a 2,500 essay and submit it on the same day and get excellent grades. Both of you are wonderful students and you should be proud of yourselves. I think that both of you are perfect at doing it. I am sorry if I have upsetted you two. I was referring to myself as being slow not you two.
