In Pereira, Risaralda we use usted regardless of the age. For example, as a 5 year old my cousins and I used to refer to each other as usted and as adults we continue to call each other usted.

We've done two multi months bicycle tours in Colombia and they were both fantastic. You've showed a picture of Taganga, an unforgettable place we visited on both tours. Manizales, Caldas green ad lush, most importantly is also the cradle of coffee country and a hub for Argentine tango. Rich in culture, Manizales has seven universities therefore, a high level of education and plenty of cultural life.. Markedly less expensive than Mexico in every aspect. It is interesting to go to markets and supermarkets where you'll find wonderful chocolate, infinite variety of fruits and vegetables and many different colours of potatoes. Fashion and shoes very reasonably priced; shopkeepers serve you coffee as you shop. Manizales is a wonderful green city with so much to offer.
One thing understressed is that it is also mostly cloud forest which means few sunny days and a lot of rain that results in major long term road closures due to slides. Buses only cove about 30-40km per hour on average due to winding narrow roads. You need a lot of time to travel around. Otherwise its green and attractive with much to do.
That's is true. Thanks for mentioning that! I will take it into consideration if I make another similar video. We wanted to go to Pasto but it's seems it's not possible now as the road is closed.
My girlfriend is lives in Bogota and we’ve been everywhere in Colombia. Except Pasto and some interior towns. Manizales is my favorite city, Patty like Medellin best. I wish Mexican food products were more readily available so I could make my salsas. Only In Bogota you can go Mercado Paloquemado for Mexican products. Love the hot springs in Manizales and Periara. Hiking in Salento is incredible!!!!! Cheese in the hot chocolate is a no go for more, cheese in fruit cocktail is very good. Lechon on top of a tamal is my go to dish, wish I had some Yucatán habanero salsa though. Love the malls in Colombia, very new and big. Good eats at the food courts too. Villa de Leyva and Barachato are a must go. And don’t get me started on the beautiful people❤

I just enjoy listening to you talk and express your thoughts. Columbia is looking better and better the more I see of it and her about it. I would choose to stay up in the mountains like you are because I cant take the heat and humidity of the coast. I do worry a little bit of encountering local differences in Spanish because Spanish is already a second language for me. Mexico is getting crazy expensive in the last few months. just this week I returned to a part of Guadalajara where I stayed for 6 months last year. I knew the prices of my favourite dishes at many restaurants and now when I return the prices for so many things are much higher. same with groceries - the prices of limes and eggs are more than doubled. I dont know how the poor people are surviving now.
Staying in the mountains also has a few disadvantages... It rains every day but that doesn't bother when you have a beautiful scenery, a great city with everything you need, great people and somehow you find a lot of peace. I agree some areas in Mexico are becoming more expensive
Two of my male cousins are married to Colombian woman. They had to live in Columbia while they worked out the immigration paperwork. They now live here in the US both couples have children now.
Colombia looks like a very interesting place. I think once there, it might be hard to leave. I'd like to explore from around between Jalisco to Oaxaca though. I have many friends who are from that area, and I've been heavily influenced by the culture. If you love the old traditional music, check out Emily and Sheyla ( Dueto dos Rosas )

I'd definitely watch videos on Estradas, neighborhood names reflecting ethnic diversity, language differences, the diversity of Colombia's vegetation and animal life (I think Colombia has about 600 species of birds), and different food habits (adding cheese or bananas to many dishes provides "food" for thought). Anyway, you do a great job, so more videos, please.
Colombia is indeed the country with the highest number of bird species in the world with almost 2000 in total. It also occupies the first 4 places in the world in different categories like reptiles, amphibians, mammals, freshwater fish, plants, etc. It is the second most biodiverse country on the planet, only after Brazil, which is about six times bigger and where most of the Amazon jungle is located.

Estratos in Colombia are mainly used for taxes and cost of utilities. 1 to 3 are heavily subsidized 6 pays the most.
