Your diagnosis and conveyance and information of products is stellar. I don't know what you do in "Real Life" but this is certainly your calling my friend. Excellent review as always.
I like your reviews because you try hard to be as objective as possible regarding the audio experience that is subjective, so you always refer to the same songs and make comparisons between similar equipment. You are not the only reviewer that I follow, they all have their own style and standards, but to me you are the most reliable. I'm seeking for what will be my first planar headphones and, thanks to you, the Apollo enters the list of possible choices, what is left to see is its availability and price.
If the earpads are like the Robin, that is great; My Robin sv021 is the most comfortable headphone I have ever worn and I work at home with them on 10+ hours a day.
haha Kneel before the Apollo! Hahah! Love Ya! Hhahaha :D Btw, thank you for the hard works/advices my man i own you! All the best : G-H :P How much there is sound differences at mini to x-sabre dac? Is the "house sound" same style of neutralish to tilt to warmth nor its the Matrix X Streamer maybe that what im looking in the end bc its rare that i write so much for this cheap compo but the price is unbeatable in my use scenario and maybe i just love this brand so much. Maybe this Apollo is my first Sendys :D Id love to check these to get more mids/treble and detail centric hp:s. And GZ 10K!
Lol, thanks for the support! I don't think Matrix is leaning on a house sound any more. I hear a difference with the original Mini-i, but the Mini-i Pro 3 and X Sabre are neutral/transparent. Honestly, if there's a difference between the Pro 3 and X Sabre in sound, I don't hear it. The X Sabre is a true luxury item, so value is completely out the door. It's a solid product, no doubt, and if I had a few thousand dollars I needed to get rid of, I might put it towards the X Sabre...or the Benchmark HP4...or a Verite. Anyway, Matrix makes great stuff, and like any other super-expensive dac, the X Sabre is more looks than substance.
"one week its good, another its another headphone that is good" I know exactly what you are referrining to. "Hifiman Ananda is good". Six months later "wait, Ananda is not good, its hifiman edition sx". God i cant stand many headphone channels. You are an exception to that rule.
Would these be a good buy to compliment the phoenix? I really like the sound signature of the phoenix, to me , it is the comfort food of headphones, but I also want to experience a planar. If these give the same kind of "sitting in your favorite recliner in front of a fire watching Shawshank redemption for the 8th time" kind of vibe, it is a buy for me. Your input would be appreciated. Edit: bought them an hour ago, fingers crossed I made the right decision! Headphone splurge now over. I bought the Apollo and Phoenix after watching your reviews, and bought a set of B&W PX because they were only $ 100. So I have a dynamic , a planar and a bluetooth ANC. Collection complete for the next 5 or so years.
If it's anywhere near the Audeze LCD2 non-fazor for less than half the price, that's a buy.... But deep inside I'm waiting for its SIVGA brother for 350 :-) or the plastic Takstar stepbrother for 200 :-) Everyone seems to hate the Takstar version of the Aivas, but the plastic cup won't crack like the wood versions... After some pad rolling it was very close to the wood brothers with some extra bass...
I covered them in the comparison section of the video. All I can add to what I already said is that the two headphones sound quite different. The Aiva might be better for orchestral or classical, while the Apollo is more suited towards all genres.
Hmmmm... This or the Hifiman Edition Xs? The sendy's are £20 more than the XS (£400) and my current headphones are the Hifiman HE-X4 with an iFi Zen Stack.
Another uniquely clear and concise review in a hobby of blare. What headphone would you rec for both above average soundstage while retaining very good bass and smooth vocals? If any? Thank you.
HD6xx, T60rp (maybe, but I'm putting it on the list anyway), DT880 250ohm/600ohm, DT900 Pro X, Blue Mix-Fi, Blue Ella (you can sometimes find it for $400, if you can stretch your budget a little). These jump out to me, but there are likely others.
@@NoThemeReviews So my Zeus arrived today, no wait, it's... 4:59am, so... yesterday afternoon, and I've been glued to them ever since. They are not the best headphone for every track in my playlist, I didn't think they would be, what I didn't expect is that they'd be top dog for so, so many of them. And fuck me if they don't put up a tremendous fight on the ones where my Grado's or Hifimans just edge them out for very specific reasons. Most female vocals (that aren't distorted screams anyway) go down nicer on the HE-400S despite the vast, vast disparity in clarity, the Zeus just stomps all over them in terms of clarity but... There's something about the Zeus, that is, mmm, just plain unpleasant for some female vocals. It's like they some sort of FR wall and splatter against it, and all of the beautiful harmonics and dynamics seem like they get smashed into a brick wall limiter. I'm being melodramatic of course, and I don't know the right audiophile term... is it treble glare? Is it peakiness? I don't know. It's very specific, higher register, female vocals... not a strong point on the Zeus. And, to be fair, pretty much every track that require brutality go down better on the Grado's (Korn, Slipknot, Kittie etc), which I absolutely expected. What I didn't expect is how fucking good they actually sound on the Zeus. The Grado's will kill you and you'll die happy (or miserable, which probably makes you happy if you like these particular artists), whereas the Zeus gives you more fullness, more richness, better timbre and more naturalness but... it's like you're viewing a bloodbath from a nice safe emotional distance, and sometimes I do want to be an observer, not a participant. But this is just nit-picking,... long story short, these are absolutely stunning. Percussion doesn't hit quite as hard as I want, granted, the treble is waaay hotter than I expected but I'm more than ok with that. The clarity, the richness, the fullness, the timbre, the density of the soundstage, ho'my'gawd... Porcupine Tree - Trains just came on... I'm sitting here, mesmerized. I love that you don't shill, don't ever change, at the same time I feel like you undersold these. Your vote of confidence swayed me and I'm so swayed I'm sideways and giddy. Avenged Sevenfold - Afterlife... what is this madness! I don't mind A7X, I generally think, eh, Atari music, it's fine, whatever, but they came on on the Zeus on I'm leaning back in my chair going faaaaark...... Savage Garden - To The Moon And Back... wtf... I have this on my playlist for purely nostalgic reasons, this came on and my jaw hit the floor. Dean Lewis - Waves... I love this track, it sounds good on pretty much everything. On the Zeus... it sounds no, not sublime, it's not that, it's... it's... no, I don't have an adjective. I'm going to plead ignorance and just say it's incredible. Flawless as far as my pleb ears can discern. Korn - Ball Tongue... this on the Grado's is why I own the Grado's. I've never heard anything that comes close to competing, and the last headphone I expected to was Zeus. And yet... it does. There are moods where I'd choose the the Zeus over the Grado to envelop me in my first love, focused rage. What's more, I threw on the first track of the first album I ever bought, Live - Rattlesnake from Secret Samadhi, and not only did it do justice to my nostalgia, it's the first time I've heard it in 20 odd years where it sounds even better than I remember it did as a teenager. ... Wtf. What the utter fuck. I love these headphones so damn much.
@@NoThemeReviews I just got it and it sounds absolutely amazing. It seems that these headphones while being able to be driven easily, can also take alot of power

Agree, it’s a value. It has good look, good accessories and look like a very interesting sound.

Have you heard the AD2000x? If so, how would you compared these two headphones? If not how does this compare to the 700x?
Could you say more about the difference between the Aiva and Apollo? What advice would you give someone between the two?
I covered them in the comparison section of the video. All I can add to what I already said is that the two headphones sound quite different. The Aiva might be better for orchestral or classical, while the Apollo is more suited towards all genres.
