This song accompanied the episode so well. There is a very sad tone to it, and the beat and way that the instruments are played makes it sound almost like the ticking of a clock (like how Steiner knew his time alive was ticking away). Then we get these moments in between where it quiets, and it makes you feel like you're waiting for something to happen, like you're waiting for the inevitable. In the end, I feel like the tune picks up and bit and there's a lighter mood, almost like acceptance. I doubt anyone will read this, but I just thought I'd share my thoughts

It's these little moments that makes The Mentalist an amazing show for me. Jane distracts Steiner by showing him the coin trick until "It's gone". There were few moments in the series that really stands up for me and that scene was one of them. I love that you interpreted the soundtrack as such and i believe that's what Blake Neely intended as well, the ticking clock alike tune to accompany Steiner's last moments until it falls completely silent and Jane's coin was gone.
