Such valuable and scrutinizing insight into things can hardly be called yapping, as it’s a most needed addition to your recommendations, of which we ought to be thankful for
dakota if you’re trying to get back into fiction may i recommend they’re going to love you by meg howrey! i was very pleasantly surprised by it, it’s about a woman in her 40s reflecting on her life growing up as a ballet dancer (like her parents) and how she became estranged from her father. it’s honestly such a beautiful story of girlhood, complicated family relationships and the feeling that you have missed out on your dreams, it was a devastating read and im still thinking about it weeks after reading it
i'm sure you've been told this a billion times before, but you are exactly how i imagine camilla from the secret history (appearance wise, please. she went through hell..) i hope you take that as a compliment, you are so beautiful!!
I have two film recommendations for you - though feel free to take them with a grain of salt: aftersun (which I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you've already seen), directed by Charlotte Wells, and the Knightriders, directed by George A. Romero.
if you havent already seen them two of my favorite french new wave films are my night at mauds and last year at marienbad would love to hear your thoughts!
i just watched the substance and my spoiler free mini review is : it felt like an idea rather than a full story & it was lacking any sort of depth? or demension perhaps. i appreciated the body horror but i felt like the movie relied a bit too much on it. like if you take away the body horror and the gore- then the story is mildly interesting but overall pretty boring bc of the lack of character depth elisabeth and sue are given. very interesting film tho! it would have been better if they worked more on the script. --also i don't love when films treat the audience as though they aren't smart enough to understand what they are talking about which this film does throughout it imo. if anyone else has thoughts id love to know!! ive been looking for video reviews but havent had much luck on finding much 😖 also just want to clarify that im not at all saying it was a bad movie! i just think it could have been better
I'm a little afraid to see The Substance. I'm a big Qualley fan, and I like body horror, but I saw another movie by this director that a lot of people loved but I thought was heavy-handed and ridiculous, like first year film school ridiculous and obvious. Wish me luck.
Wrapped up in my floral quilt with some orange juice for this
Goals
ha, relatable, i curled up in bed with tea for this
meanwhile i’m here eating dry cereal while on the floor
