    Nice repair. So many times its a mechanical fix on these digital devices. Never hurts to poke around the insides, so long as its unplugged.

    • @TheUltimateRecycler
      @TheUltimateRecycler  10 месяцев назад

      Yes, very often mechanical, especially belts etc as the rubber doesn't age well! Thanks mate 😊

    I've got a 1987 Technics CD player. Still going strong - the drawer just needs a little bit of encouragement to move - don't we all! Cheers, Chris - I enjoy your electronics tinkering and fixing.

    Another good save Chris, tubber belt the culprit again, I guess it's not so bad as a relatively easy fix apart from getting that blasted front panel off !
    There is one UK eBay for £80 currently !
    They built them differently back then, I've got a 1980s Denon unit and it's built like a battleship and still going strong !

      Thanks Andy! Yeah, that front panel sure put up a fight! The vintage units were much better quality indeed! 👍😊

    Hey! I have one if those in my storage unit. It's Magnavox branded from Canada but exactly the same

      @TheUltimateRecycler  10 месяцев назад

      Yep, I think I saw some Magnavox ones the same. Presumably re-branded from Philips! 👍

    Well done, did repair a few with the same problem, I changed the belts, would maybe get a flask of those nasty chemicals that seems to do the job 😊

      Thanks Retif, yes the rubber renew certainly seemed to do the trick!

    You could also soak the Belt in Gycerine from the Drug Store

    Good job Chris. I ordered a mix bag of belts on eBay from china. After waiting 10 weeks I got refund. I got for nearly half the price from Temu and had them in a week. Cheers Graham.

    These Philips players with TDA1541 DAC are worth good money as some people like the sound quality of these old things (I'm not convinced myself but definitely a keeper).

    • @TheUltimateRecycler
      @TheUltimateRecycler  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah it was hard to gauge sound quality through those little speakers Jason, but I'm sure it would sound great through a good amp/speaker combo! 😊👍

    👍Who knew that Nagambie had a private hospital for ailing DVD and VCR/VHS players, one where miracle cures are offered?
