It was a warming tribute to the older fans going through a lot of crisis going into adulthood fully. Having something that's cozy but still paralleling the emotions a lot of us are feeling right now is refreshing to see from something nostalgic, like Pokémon. so excited to see what's to come, also love the vid!

I’m 37, Ash and I were both 10 when the anime and the games came out. I’ve never missed a game. When I had my first son I was pretty young. We both saved and saved and bought our DS’s together and have both bought a version of each gen since so we could trade. It was a mother son bonding time we both cherish. He’ll be 19 next month. My parents died a year apart about 10 years ago. I always thought Pokémon would be something I’d end up having to leave behind as I got older but I haven’t. My husband and I still game and we both love Pokemon. Our youngest is 4 and she watched through Concierge with me and she was a little bored but was pretty confused why mom was so emotional lol. I really feel like this one shows how Pokemon grew with us. It got us as we’re all adults now and we can still see the things we’re going through reflected in the show but in a wholesome way. I’m so happy to have a franchise that meant so much to me in so many different phases of my life, that grows with me and that I can share with my kids and not worry about it being boring, irrelevant or too adult for them. Concierge is an excellent show and I appreciate that they gave us early adult fans something to relate to and something to soothe our souls.

I really loved the pikachu episode, I personally saw it more as a metaphor for being neurodivergent than anything else. As someone who's autistic I often have a hard time expressing my emotions and even if I really enjoy something I can seem apathetic to it because I don't express joy outwardly the same way most other people do. I almost cried during that episode because it showed me that it's okay to show emotions differently, it doesn't make you a worse person. It's just a different way of being, not better or worse, and I love how many interpretations there are and how different people can relate to that message ❤

I haven't seen this series, but as soon as I saw the depressed Pikachu I almost cried. To explain: I'm a huge fan of Pikachu because I love how energetic and cute it is, I even managed to breed a Pichu with Volt Tackle in Sword. I unfortunately have depression as well, so to see it in my favorite pokémon and being told "It's okay that your Pikachu is different." makes me feel like Pokémon was saying "It's okay if you're like this too, no need to feel weird or shame." Also, the Pikachu patterned fabric Haru holds up to the sun while at her desk, I have a Switch dock cover similar to it.

I always found the choices for the Pokemon that appear in the show incredibly meaningful. Psyduck is easily the most obvious. Haru has anxiety, Psyduck is a physical embodiment of that anxiety. And you know what Haru does? She helps Psyduck control its powers, and it helps her control her anxiety as well. She has fewer inner monologues after she begins partnering with Psyduck too.

I'm an early stage Millennial (early 40's), so I'm at the very top of the age scale for this generation, and while Pokemon was always just a bit below my age group growing up, it was always there. My kids (Gen Alpha I guess) are in love with the show and I myself have taken quite a liking to it. From the oldest to the newest stuff it is fairly wholesome, I don't have to worry about anything really weird or off putting, and I find it enjoyable enough to read up here and there on it so I can engage with my kids about it. This new show is interesting and while I caught the first episode, I didn't see the Pikachi one, so I will be catching that soon. What this show does highlight though is that Pokemon does have a massive reach and perhaps what we are seeing (similar to Detective Pikachu) is more adult oriented, though still kid friendly, Pokemon media coming to the market. Just a thought.

36 year old here, so mid-early millennial. I was 12 when Red/Blue versions of the games were taking over in North America. And I noticed over the decades, my age and below were the ones who really took to the game and anime. Rarely did I find a person a year older than me or more who were into all aspects of it. I kept up with the series with each generation, and it helps me relate to many people far younger than me nowadays. For anyone older, it may seem daunting to get into it all, but there's nothing wrong with just sticking to the latest stuff, or picking one of the older series generations to delve into if it interests you. Many younger people's (mid to late 90s born) memories might just be of Generation 3 or 4, for example. It's very hard to come by people who witnessed and were still interested in each and every generation of Pokemon over the decades (hence the "genwunner" label usually thrown at people my age).

Try to keep an open and positive mind to a reminder that it's okay to find comfort in it, although short and I want there to be more of it, it is very wholesome and I smiled the whole way through, it's fun, exciting and above all else very cute and charming.

I have a little Psyduck plushy that I’ve had since college that I acquired in a seemingly fated way, and he’s been with me through marriage and divorce. Pokemon Concierge is one of the best show recently. With all the current animes, at least the most popular one that I see, being about battling enemies and high stakes and just super human powers, it feels nice to have a fun, soft and wholesome show.
There's no greater story, there's no stakes, there's nothing bad, it's all about just feeling good and relaxing. So much so that the show never tries to make Haru seem miserable and sad, she just explains things didn't go well for her and we move to the show and feeling good and warm.
Pokemon Concierge just wants to be nice and fun, that's all it needs and it does it so well. Then again, I think it's just such a refreshing and awesome show, I want more so much more.

As a gen Z fan of pokémon, as well as suffering with anxiety and depression, the pikachu really opened my eyes on the potential that pokémon and humans are very much alike.

  • @SuperFlashDriver
    @SuperFlashDriver 9 месяцев назад +1

00:30 Technically it is stop-motion but it's mostly likely the Rankin Bass version of "Animagic" mixed in with Doll/Plush forms of the Pokemon mixed in with clay figures that look strikingly resembles the 1985 film "The Adventures of Mark Twain" and a similar style to the Ads of the "California Raisins" from 1986 (The "William Vinton" clay-mation/stop-motion style of Pokemon Animation).
04:04 "Millennials are the generation that feel unseen, unheard. But now, all of a sudden, Pokemon Concierge comes out of nowhere and says "Hey! It's okay to be anxious, or sad, or even feeling down"." Guys, if you think Millennials had it rough, Generation X people also had it just as rough if not, 2 to 3x worse than Millennials (Gen Y's) or Gen Z's will ever experience. Heck, Kurt Cobain was basically how Generation X felt in their entire lifetime. So you have to give Generation X credit for them changing the system that is what it is in our society. While Baby Boomers and Pre-World War II generations were comfortable with what they were going through (even had hard tough times in the early 20th century), I feel Generation X doesn't get enough credit for what they have gone through in the 1960s and 1970s, heck, even Baby Boomers from the 1950s through the 1960s. To be honest, in our American human history, the 1930s, 1940s, 1960s, 1970s, 1990s - 2020s are some of the hardest times Americans have ever gone through in human history. But much like Gen Y/Millennials and Gen Z, Gen Xers and Baby Boomers also went through just as much hard times as we do nowadays.
06:13 Yes but here's the thing. When you introduce a cartoon character all the way back in the early part of the 20th century, at some point the value and interest of the character would be explored so much that it'll become stale and old, and eventually old things aren't as popular as they used to. And plus the amount of years trends and phenomenons can last was only 5 to 20 years at best, let alone 50. And by the time Walt Disney died, pretty much the character of Mickey Mouse completely lost its famous status due to the creators passing on from this world. So after the late 1960s early 1970s Mickey Mouse's popularity kind of struggled until the second renaissance in the mid 1980s to mid 1990s. So when you introduce cartoon characters around the time our grandparents were born, if course they won't be recognizable anymore once something flashy, new and interesting in the future comes along and takes the spot of what the old classics used to have. I do think one of the best example of this is "Private Snafu - Murder She Says (1945)". And in that episode an old female mosquito tells a story to the younger adult females about her famous status as one of the best ones around during wartime (akin to saying how she was a famous cartoon character during the golden age of hollywood of the 1930s and 1940s). However, as years past, she got older and thus was no longer good-looking or popular as she once did decades ago. What I'm trying to say is that the early the cartoon character's in the past are introduced in the world, the earlier the character loses its popularity over the next 4 decades and such. Nowadays, pretty much everything comes and gos, but some stick to their roots and if you have a franchise that's flexible like Pokemon, it'll last for another good 5 centuries or more, possibly through the fourth/fifth millenniums (3000 - 3999/4000 - 4999 A.D.E. (After Death Exists for short).
As for the Pokemon cards, back in the late 1990s when parents bought them, they thought that Pokemon was going to become a fad, thinking it'll only last maybe 4 to 6 years and then call it quits (Considering they were referencing other card collectibles and toys like Skip-It, Moon Shoes, Micro Machines, etc.). I mean, the last time a card collectible and game was popular before Pokemon came out was Wizards of the Coast's Magic The Gathering, and years before that was the infamous Garbage Pail Kids from 1985 up until 1987.
In terms of the vast amount of Pocket Monster creatures, it's very similar to a huge cast of the 1970s/1980s Muppet/Sesame Street Characters. Both of them have cute interesting personalities, and they have looks different from human beings. The only two differences is you don't throw a ball to their face or body to capture them, and you don't force them to battle and train them and such. Then again, The Muppets do heckle eachother during the performance so there's that similar part. Another one is that Muppets/Sesame Street can be educational at times, while other times not so much. Muppets I would say have experiences and adventures similar to how you would feel going on Pokemon Adventures. And yes, Muppets, much like Johto's Gen 2 Pokemon, also had baby forms of the adult versions of Muppet characters.
To sum it up, for Mickey Mouse, he's been around in the entertainment industry longer than many other cartoon characters before him. Heck, do you even hear people mention Felix the Cat or Popeye the Sailor, or Betty Boop & Max Fleischer cartoons??? Not many do. So with many famous cartoon/anime characters, many others just become forgotten and stuck in the past. So of course much like Charles Entertainment Cheese, another character that doesn't get the spotlight often as Mickey Mouse does, and Mickey Mouse, Pikachu is just a fun loving character that many recognize because of it's very short first name. A lot of pokemon have short names, much like Chuck E. Cheese, which for the elderly makes it easy to remember, but not the rest.

Note I intentionally Black and White and Journey's. Black and White is just bad and aside from its references and the Masters 8 Cynthia and Leon battle it's not worth the watch. As for Pokémon Concierge I haven't seen it yet, but now seeing your positive review I might just give it a shot. Thank you!😉

I like the idea of Pokémon kind of maturing as fans become more mature, mind you maybe bloody fights with cool transformations or romance with all that may take things a bit too far off the main thing, concierge is a good start fr

I’m no psychologist, but based on Pikachu’s lack of motivation to do any fun activities it feels more depressed or anxious. But I’m basing this off personal experiences.

The only thing i don’t really like about pokemon concierge is the designs of the human characters.. They look out of place, compared to the Pokémon themselves-
