Joburg is cheap for a city that has so much industry and commerce, these apartments in other similar cities around the world would be at least US$1200

Very true. It should actually be much higher than that considering the value of the Joburg economy not only to South Africa but the entire African economy. With 2/3 of all trades in Sub-saharan Africa taking place at the JSE, largest and busiest airport on the continent should atleast tell you about the volume of commercial and industrial activity in the city.

@@mazibukomail Joburg is the most Cosmopolitan city in Africa with links to global supply chain process. There are very few things that are offered in New York, Tokyo and London that you couldn't get in Joburg. If you don't get the same brand you get the local equivalent. Even with all other developing cities in Africa seemingly catching up, it is still yards away in terms of overall commerce and industry even to cities like Cape Town and Cairo which have the second and third largest economies on the continent behind it respectively.

@@luthovellem865You people are so funny, you all live in a bubble and think Africa starts and ends with SA. SA has stagnated for the last 10 years with almost zero economic growth, spiralling crime and insecurity, loadshedding, SA airlines is dead etc. While Jo'burg and SA is still more industrialised/developed than any other country in Africa, several African cities offer same amenities and even cheaper rates. Nairobi can compete with Jozi on so many levels and Kenya airways has pretty much replaced SA airlines in SA airspace in taking Africans inside and outside of SA. 10 years is not a long time and if SA doesn't get its act together, countries like Kenya will catch up to it sooner than later. Also remember SA wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few white minority unlike Kenya which is African/black owned economy.

@@alexchui3511 I agree with you, except I'd replace Kenya airways with Ethiopian but you right the black majority don't own anything in SA and economic growth is stagnant. I sincerely hope William Ruto is doing right by Kenyans.
