- From January 26, 1983. Joan interviews Angie Dickinson- who is best known for starring in the cult movies "Big Bad Mama"and "Dressed to Kill", and the TV series "Police Woman".
I love the way she does not take the bait of the prying media questions. She is so classy and sensual. She has a lot of style and class.
She's aware of her own sexuality without being full of herself. Stunning.

I love Angie Dickinson! I had the pleasure to meet Angie when I was in the jewelry business. I sold her a lizard watch band and she was impressed how quickly I put it on her watch. I told her she looks great on TV but even better in person. She was flattered!

Joan cracks me up. I was a teenage girl who was addicted to 'Police Woman'. I wanted to be her when I grew up. I always thought Angie was unique, gorgeous, and a bit quirky. She never revealed 'too much' about herself. She has always had real class.
They don't make em like Angie anymore. Joan was so great when she used to rip on Liz Taylor, and other Hollywood types who's egos were as big as the outdoors.
She was already popular in the movies in the 1960s. Angie was a breakthrough actress in the 1970s setting the pace for other female led cop shows and powerful women led evening dramas, “Wonder Woman,” “Bionic Woman,”and “Charlie’s Angels.”
Great interview very funny. I always love Angie and her husband I saw him in concert several years ago in Beverly Hills. So sad about her daughter may she RIP.

Angie Dickson had a remarkable career. I loved her in "Police Woman." Whenever Joan Rivers filled in for Mr. Carson, it was an event. Curfew was 10:30 in my home and whenever she was on, I would always be home early to watch the entire show. LOL.
Actually, Ms. Dickinson is quite intelligent. This particular interview, driven by Joan mind you, is not a really good example of most f.of her interviews. Often there is this "idea" that Angie was just this "fun girl" who dated and loved the men...and this was a part of her life, BUT she IS also very smart. She has a lot of things to say about a LOT of things. She Knows a lot about the business as well as other topics. This particular interview just does not illustrate that.
MsTexas73 this interview just objectified her, all Joan cared about was her beauty and her love life. It was uncomfortable to watch seeing her so marginalized.
Two terrible questions by Joan Rivers: "Do you have a good relationship with your daughter"? and "Did you like your mother"? She sounded more like a therapist than a talk show host. I think Angie must have been offended. Angie should have said, "none of your damn business what my relationship is with my daughter or mother." They have to "check" their soul at the door while sitting on a talk show watched by millions of people.
@@tjwash2 And I guess then this would be a “typical” interview for her as most people ask similar questions just formed differently. I have seen very few interviews that don’t objectify Angie and that’s sad.

I had always thought that if ever a remake was done of the dark classic, "Key Largo," Angie Dickinson would be a shoo-in for the Claire Trevor part of the has-been singer. Both have that wistful quality about them. I was always a big fan of both!
Angie Dickinson was great. Police woman was a great show, she had lots of good movies. She was all class. Love how she simply would not kiss and tell, that's a sign of class. Just an elegant woman and exciting on the screen.

The first movie that I ever saw Angie in was "Man with a Gun" starring Bob Mitchum from 1955.
Angie was not credited in that movie but she did have a couple of nice small parts.

My wife of 48 years and her sister get the greatest joy any time they can find me in error. They were both standing over my shoulder when I typed my original comment and they both said the same thing that you did. My wife typed what I wrote on her commuter only using then instead of than and her grammar check program corrected it to than. I am not saying you are wrong it could be that her grammar check program is incorrect. It was still fun to see the disappointed look they had on their faces when her own computer said she and her sister were wrong.

Very few American blondes age well. Angie did. More sex appeal than most of the two-bit, no-class, self-impressed young actresses of today.
How sad that Joan Rivers never asked her anything other than about men. Angie was an interesting woman.

Angie comes from the "discreet" era of Hollywood where one participates but does not talk about it. Glad Joan didn't ask about Mickey Mantle. They once tried to trick Angie into a "This is Your Life" episode and just as they were about ready to start she found out what was happening and got livid. She tried to leave on good terms (which is her style) but they wouldn't relent so she finally walked off the set. She left her family, Bob Hope and a few others hanging on the vine, she didnt care, she had no interest in discussing her life in the public. The episode was cancelled. Nikki (her daughter) was her life. She put nearly everything out there to make sure she was cared for and was a great mom.
She suffers Joan’s questions and pulls it off to the point that Joan doesn’t figure it out. Angie is very much her own person , era’s and decades don’t define her . Me love her and women do too . Angie is not a great bluffer, one can see how she feels and she won’t bite your head off but she’s not a mark. Hard to pinpoint her as she tries to please she doesn’t hold back. Always like her in policewoman because Angie’s qualities as a person come through. Compare her speaking voice here and her voice in character in the series. Plays the game of poker in life without coming off as prude. One senses that you could get close but she’s just as pleased if you don’t. She adjust to her surroundings rather than insisting on her surroundings shift for herself. Perhaps this quality is her greatest asset, she doesn’t expect those around her to please her because she doesn’t need it to . That’s why women like her personality - she reminds them of men. Joan keeps trying to get Angie to reveal her secret and Angie is just being Angie . Angie is one great secure dame.

She wouldn't say if she was dating or interested in anybody because she was still hung up on Burt Bacharach and didn't want him to know if she had anybody or not. Angie was very brokenhearted over Bacharach. She didn't understand that ultimately Burt needed a Jewish girl. So then he married Carol Bayer Singer.
