  • The Paris Summer Olympics opening ceremony was marred by controversy. The segment featuring LGBTQ+ performers resembling da Vinci’s “Last Supper” drew the most criticism.
Christians worldwide expressed dismay, prompting organisers to apologise for any offense caused, stating no intention to depict the painting. Whether intentional or not, there were certainly enough similarities between the famous painting and the scene depicted on the bridge during the opening ceremony that no one can blame Christians for being offended.
What is undeniable, however, is the spirit it reflected, serving as a global advertisement to showcase the progress that the spirit of humanism has made in the world.
