I'm very surprised this works. Hollow Knight allows for many different paths, but I thought Ori and the Blind Forest was fairly linear until the Ginso Tree.
It was in the original game, but with the addition of Dash, things like Air Dash and Rocket Jumping are seriously broken if you put the effort to get them in.
Ori, Hollow Knight, and Celeste are like the trifecta of tippy top tier steam games. Seems like everyone that loves any of them have loved all 3 (myself included). Hope you go down that rabbit hole! Really all phenomenal games. Kinda interesting too bc Will of the Wisps very clearly took inspiration from Hollow Knight and in a lot of ways feels more like it than it does the original Ori.
@@Liamdrw That's interesting, though I suppose if any of them doesn't fit it would be Celeste just from considering the difference in genre. For what it's worth, I also wasn't too impressed with Celeste at first and thought the hype around the movement was oversold by a lot of people, but after insistence from a friend of mine I revisited it and spent some time getting more comfortable with the advanced movement techniques. I'm very happy I did as it is just an absolute joy to play. I'm not gonna tell you what games you should spend your time on, but I will say that it might be worth another try, especially if you're like me where 1) you love Hollow Knight and Ori in large part because of the fluidity of the movement and 2) you did a minimalist run your first time through Celeste. Cool to hear that perspective though, you're genuinely the first person I've seen say that!

This kind of random but why do ppl always compare this game to Hollow Knight? It’s pretty obvious to anyone who’s actually played both games that both don’t at all play the same. One is heavily focused with platforming, the other heavily focuses on combat with all of the boss encounters. They’re both amazing games but I always see the comparisons drawn and it always confuses me. Also seeing all these randomizer vids for different games makes me want to get a gaming PC so much. Mods are so awesome.
It's more will of the wisps that is similar because it uses the same charm system and other mechanics but their both metroid vanias with a focus on exploration and with a unique artstyle.
@@SilentDeterrent Will of the wisps is great, I've played hollow knight, blind forest and will of the wisps and it felt like a huge improvement from the previous game. The combat is incredibly satisfying, they introduce some boss fights and even a hub area. As well as expanding on the chase sequences that made the first ori so fun for me.
Playing Will of the Wisps right after Hollow Knight was slightly unsatisfying in how similar they are (compared to the original Blind Forest with the manual checkpoints and no blatant charm system or Cornifer)

@@Skurry yeah. But at least the glitches are available on consoles! there’s a twisted pleasure that comes from skipping the final dungeon full of puzzles and challenges that the devs worked on, especially on a stuttering switch screen that isn’t happy with a bunch of camera movements.

Yep, like that first energy cell. It's less of a randomizer and more an advanced bit of machine learning with specific logic paths it can follow

Well‚ it's still a Metroidvania‚ so if you get abilities in the wrong order‚ you unlock paths when you shouldn't according to the normal playthrough

I played both games so play ori first preferably both because hollow knight is much more harder

Its PC only but the link is in the description. Modding is a real pain for consoles generally
