Paiton saying she loves the characters and worldbuilding while Aubrie just grimaces is top tier

So I actually did read Red queen and Powerless (in this order) and I enjoyed Powerless much more because Red queen was kinda too slow for me. I can't waits for the second book of Powerless

Red queen was TOO SLOW!? What!? Red queen is an ENTIRE 200 pages shorter and so MUCH more happened and in the book they didn't start the Trials until 40% in!! It felt as if I was trudging through mud. It blatantly stole Red Queen AND Hunger Games without taking away ANY of the core messages. None of the lore building was consistent AT ALL. Healers need salve for some reason? People have colored hair and random powers why? There's not established reason. There's no proof ordianries we're sick and yet everyone was behind that. And there was NO chemistry between the two love interests.

I felt the same. I think the author of red queen had a vision but didnt fully worked it out the perfect way

I actually really liked this one. It did have similar Hunger Games vibes. I said that several times while reading it lol. Do I think it could’ve been more descriptive? Yes. Do I think it was the best fantasy read ever? No. Will I read the next? Yes. I liked the banter between Kai and Paedyn and I think the story could build up nicely. I wasn’t a fan of the ending but I understand why it ended that way. It was overall just a fun easy read that you can read quickly without thinking too much about. I’m also a sucker for a trial 😂 If you want something very detailed, this one probably isn’t for you. Oh and it’s definitely YA. MMC is 🔥
