@@ConestogaCreek That's what happens in hospitals, now, from what I hear😕. They don't admit people (especially with compromised immune systems) near as readily as they used to, because of all the hospital- acquired infections due to resistant strains of bacteria😓. She must be better if they are doing the surgery, right🤔! Yay! Praying for you, Christina! God will get you through it!

I highly recommend the product ‘Sugru’ for repairs on splints and covering sharp edges etc ☺️ it is like plasticine but when it dries it turns to a rubber material that is strong and flexible but fully bonded. We love it! You can do all sorts with Sugru, it’s great!
Your mom is such an extraordinary woman. You are blessed to have such an angel watching over you. I assumed the role of caregiver for my mom and several siblings for periods of time over the years. I’ve also been diagnosed with several major chronic conditions accompanied by chronic pain so I truly believe that the roles of caregiver & patient require respect and consideration. My illnesses/pain has changed my life dramatically and I need to periodically remind myself that this is my journey and not expect others to always be available to meet my needs. They can’t give us what they don’t have to give. I also think of your sister and fully understand why she feels like the forgotten child. Imagine how wonderful she would feel if you did something special just for her? Wishing you and your family the best.

Oh, bless your mom's heart! My mom did the same thing and in the end, the only real difficulty was pushing the wheelchair. I hope you all get along alright with 3 arms between you! We are borrowing your emotion rocks idea to deal with our many challenges and it's helping a lot here at home. You're in our family's prayers this week going into surgery. We can't wait to see next Monday's video and hope you are up cruising the halls by then!

For the metal adjuster on your brace I’d use a piece of rubber tubing. Like something similar to an exercise band (tube). Should be able to push it over the metal then cut it to length. Your PT would probably have tons of extra laying around.

I am praying for you that your surgery goes well tomorrow. Your mother is such a strong woman, so I know this fracture is difficult for her. I am thankful that I found your videos. My illness is nothing as bad as yours, but I also suffer chronic pain. As the cold has set in, my pain becomes worse. I can only imagine what the cold does to your muscles and pain. May the Lord bless and keep you safe.

Just so everyone knows, a break is the same thing as a fracture. The words are interchangeable. One is not worse than the other because they are literally the same thing! I see a bit more than a hairline fracture (or break) on the X-ray, so more like an incomplete fracture (or break!!) which isn’t as bad as a complete or complex break (or fracture! - I think we all understand the interchangeability of the words now!), but as a registered nurse, it isn’t part of my scope of practice to read X-rays, although you do pick up on a lot. It’s just a really nice, clean image and I think a lot of people will see it.
Also, Christina, with the sharp part on your brace or if you encounter this again, I’ve taken to using a decent nail file or sandpaper to file down sharp edges on all sorts of items and materials, including metal. That might not completely solve the issue, but it may at least dull the sharpness of the edge until you find something to cover it. It may just be enough to file it though!

I had a brain surgery in August because I have a tectal glioma and for me it was a stage one benign tumor and that’s that but I admire you for your tolerance for all the doctors appointments you go to!
I am amazed at how positive you always seem to be. I know that this is also just what we see and the only way that we can see anything different is to be with you 24/7. Yes, that's not going to happen. You are a strong person and that is very clear. What ever feelings may be going through your mind, let them happen. It's okay to be sad, it's okay to be angry. Those are all feelings that are normal considering all that you are going through. Also, please make sure that you are arranging respite care on a regular basis so that your mom gets a break from tome to time. That's important for her health physically and mentally and for the relationship between you. You are a beautiful young woman inside and out. With or without all the "hardware". LOL Love that beautiful long hair too!

Elke, I LIVE for plackers dental flossers! I get the mint flavor😁.. they have a pick at one end and the floss is flat so it goes between the teeth easier. If there's a dollar tree nearby, get a pack there 😉. I seriously can't live without those things! Once you get switched to a velcro brace, use Christina's cbd cream on your wrist. I'll send you some of the stuff I make when I get back from Houston, so it'll be at your home when you get home.

For fixing braces with something stronger than clay they make melt meltable plastic beads (mine is called polymorph plastic) and in hot water it becomes like clay and in cold water it hardens and is super strong

I broke the same part off the knee brace. I now have a more sports knee brace that prevents me from hyper extending.

That brace hack is SO SMART! I’ve started duct-taping the joints of my braces as soon as I get them, and it’s helped keep them from breaking so much. It’s like my braces need braces I swear 😅

Perhaps seeing a sensory speech path to get you back into eating & someone more specialised with that could help move things along.

Elle Blu she can't swallow correctly because of her jaw, if I remember correctly. So PT can help with alignment of the jaw and mobilization of the esophagus

Her latest Instagram seems to me to indicate she is doing better, the sepsis is over for now. I guess she is still in the hospital. I hope she gets to go home soon.

I have said for quite a while that braces come to me to die. Fourth set of daytime AFOs, 2nd set of nighttime. Shoes also come to me to die, because of shuffling, spastic gait.

Thought Id just make a comment of Christina's updates from her instagram. She did get sepsis but she is now infection free. The infection came from her port, so she went into surgery to get it removed and another surgery to get a new one today. They had to put it on her right side but didnt mention anything otherwise. We know shes awake at least

She’s out of the hospital now and back at the house she’s staying at in Maine, she says she’s feeling better and his happy to be out of hospital. And that she might even be able to go home next week. Well probably get a new video considering the good news

I'm a new subscriber and I'm curious why you can not eat, or choose to not eat and why the smell of food bothers you?

The short version is she can't eat because of a swallowing problem and her mass cell makes her have reactions to foods and their smell. But you should go back and watch some videos to get the full picture, there's a lot.
She has gastroparesis
I have a problem swallowing meats I have dropped 3 pant sizes its because of my assofigues is swollen. I see a gastro dr. Its much different than Christina
Im guessing the smells thing is a dysutonomia issue/mast cell allergy things. I have everything but the gastroparesis, that she has, to a lesser degree, and smells super affect me. They make me immediately nauseous and can even make me vomit. Friends of mine with these issues that are extra sensitive, have full on anaphylaxis reaction, ending yp in ER. I don't understand the biological mechanisms that make this happen, but it sucks. I also have phantam smells, smells that aren't really there but my brain tells me they are. They give me the same reaction, nausea and vomiting. Sometimes I can trick my brain by putting vicks vapor rub under my nose, but it only works a fraction of the time. And the smells are never ever pleasant smells. Mine are usually cigarettes, cig. smoke, rancid ashtray smell, or strong fireplace smoke smell, but like the ash. It's so gross. My neuro years ago told me it was my body trying to alert me to more serious problems, which I eventually found out was the EDS trifecta: EDS/POTS/MCAS. Every person with these diagnoses have a wide varying degree of health problems with core symptoms of varying severity. And what works for helping one, may not help others. Hope that helps. Christina does an amazing job of explaining all her issues and has videos on them if you go back to her video history. Youll learn a ton. Cheers!
What type of doctor has knowledge of EDS. My genetics are showing possible vascular eds and classic so trying to help my primary with whom I should see. Thanks.
K Lynch a geneticist can test for those types of EDS pretty straightforwardly. If its hypermobile EDS with no genetic testing a rheumatologist often diagnoses💕

God truly has blessed myself and your family with caring people. Your family deals with so much but does it with Grace. You have truly inspired me to hang onto my blessings and not the negative. I've been watching you since I believe week 23 so it isn't true you can teach an old dog new tricks. I was really struggling with mental coping when I stumbled across your channel and well I feel my guardian angel brought me to you. Also I too have that car handle.
