I honestly don’t know what to make of _Ralph Breaks the Internet_ as the film was more flanderized and doesn’t have the heart and soul of the first _Wreck-It Ralph_ and frankly I felt bewildered and betrayed by the sequel especially during the end of the film, because literally Ralph and Vanellope’s personality turn a whole 180 in the sequel compared to their personalities from the first movie. Ralph who acted as a humble, kind hearted gentle giant from the first film just became this clingy, and malicious jerk and a selfish diaper baby with most of his actions being done for the wrong reasons, Vanellope who was the mischievous, snarky racer just became very selfish and very immature while at the same time ends up being the one "Going TURBO" and because of their personalities being the opposite of who they were from the first film it really turned me off from this film, along with the fact many of the side characters like Felix and Calhoun were sidelined and felt unimportant. Even the new characters introduced (Knowsmore, Yesss, and Shank) and the scenes of Vanellope with the Disney Princesses weren’t enough to save this film. What’s more strange and unusual is that the screenwriters for _Ralph Breaks the Internet_ were the same ones who wrote the first _Wreck-It Ralph_
Agreed. Their relationship was way better when it was more like a father-daughter relationship, and Ralph was like your average Joe instead of a 3 year old
Whoo boy this movie I tell you, I have a lot to say about it but I'm going to just sum it up about points that really got me just having mixed views about it. 1. So getting this out the way, Vanellope went Turbo. Plain and simple. She's the MC of Sugar Rush so the arcade is going to notice she isn't there. 2. Ralph being obsessive like this came out of nowhere. 3. Felix and Calhoun were awesome in the first movie. Them becoming minor side characters here is a crime. 4. I don't like the sudden shift to the internet when this is a movie about games. This should've been about the console wars since a lot of older arcades had console games. 5. They promised to include Mario and Luigi in the sequel since they were unable to in the first movie. They lied. 6. Ralph is technically the main villain of this movie. 7. Shank is the only cool new character in this movie. 8. This movie really goes against what the first movie tried to hammer in. Both Ralph and Vanellope were outcasted in their own games for years because they felt like they didn't belong and just wanted to be loved for who they are. They finally managed to overcome that by helping each other out and learned to love their roles in their games. But now Vanellope is bored of hers and decided to just go to a completely different game leaving Ralph behind? I'm sorry but Vanellope comes across as extremely selfish here. I want to love this movie trust me and I am glad there are others that like it for what it is. Me, however, I freaking love the first movie it's one of my favorite Disney movies of all time with only Toy Story 2 beating it. But then the second movie comes in and decides to stomp all over what the first movie presented. It just rubs me the wrong way man...
I completely understand. A movie with making decisions like this that completely shifts what the movie is all about can do a lot of damage. Me personally I got a different perspective from everything you pointed out. But I still agree with everything. Just from a different point of view. 1. Venellope technically didn't go Turbo because she was invited into Slaughter Race. She didn't sneak in when she started playing inside the game. But to your credit. She is on the side of Sugar Rush's game console. And since she's a favorite character, wouldn't players notice her gone? That and the Sugar Rush makers would sue the Slaughter Race owners for using a character they own without permission? 2. I think Ralph being obsessed with Venellope is based on the fact that he sees her as the one good thing that ever happened to him. And he didn't want to let that go. But I think what went wrong is that it came off as creepy. Maybe the film was aware of that when the insecurity virus copied his clingy feelings. But they could've done it better. 3. Felix and Calhoun's absence would've worked if they weren't too absent. Like maybe have them come in to help save everyone at the end. But I digress. 4. The shift from Video Games to the Internet wasn't really the issue. Cause to be honest the first movie spent more time in Sugar Rush for people to feel like it was a more of a video game world. If anything movies like Free Guy and Jumanji Welcome To The Jungle felt more like worlds in a video game. If anything we already had the lack of a video game concept in the first movie. Just not as big in this one. So in a way you're still right. In anything, they should've made the concept more welcoming by having more Internet based video games show up. Like maybe real famous PC games. Like League Of Legends or World Of Warcraft. Or Mindcraft. That way it's still in the theme. 5. Yeah I think the Directors were wrong to not let them cameo. But on the bright side. Mario and Luigi got to shine in their own movie at Illumination. 6. Yeah I agree. Existentialism isn't really Disney's strong point these days. Maybe if they went with the scenario that Encanto went with, a villain wouldn't be needed. But if you're doing an internet based world. Then maybe show a enemy tied in with the internet concept. 7. Oh yeah. This movie needed some more Shank. 🥰🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍😍😍 8. I don't think this movie's message is a bad one. It's just the opposite of the last movie's message. Ralph was all about trying to change his life because it was aweful. The first movie's true message is that if you can't force change, let it happen naturally by adapting to the things you admire the most. If anything, Ralph Break The Internet's message about accepting changes and moving on was done better in movies like Toy Story 3 or Soul or even certain Dream Works movies. But personally I sort of like Ralph Breaks The Internet as a guilty pleasure. I think the humor. The internet world and some references worked. Plus I did like the fomment section scene which brought Ralph down. I thought that was a really good reality check. I just wish they held onto it longer. So all in all. I agree. Just for different reasons and perspectives.
It’s actually really interesting that modern sonic is here when really it would be classic sonic, but I guess they really wanted him to have speaking lines.
With this sequel, aside from the Ralph flanderization, the thing that annoys me is how the moral of the movie is the exact opposite of the first one with going turbo even if they say she wouldn’t die there.
What I really love about this movie is that not only did thei get all of the living voices actresses for all of the Disney animated princesses back, they also had them save Ralph by using all of their signature talents together.
@@4WaveRider4yeah but this is just bad for a sequel. Like it’s an alright movie overall, but the first one was so good that the second one just feels like a let down
I definitely see why people have a problem with this sequel, but for the most part of it, I like Ralph Breaks the Internet. The Oh My Disney sequence and Vanellope’s song were my favorite moments of the film. Also, I’m your friend.🙂
It’s kinda weird that they reference the dark web, that part of the internet shouldn’t ever be made as a joke, especially in a kids movie since there’s allegedly a lot of CP exploitation content getting distributed around those parts.

I think the best part of the whole movie is Ralph and Vanellope in the online game. This movie should have focused on online games only instead of the internet in general, just doesn’t make sense for a video game theme movie, seems like the internet idea was just an excuse for Disney advertising.
When I first saw this back when it was first released I was totally amazed, and still am! Vanellope hanging out with the Princesses is one of the best parts, and Shank's a cool character!
This movie is alright, I do wish though that Slaughter Race was a real game, that would be cool. Also the end credits scene with the pancakes is pretty disturbing ngl.
Were the same writers and director of the first film involved in the production of this sequel. They obviously didn’t had any ideas for this movie so they thought about the internet idea which ruined the video game theme, would have been better to explore more of it’s video game theme of the first, like having more new video game characters, maybe the story would have been the arcade closing and the characters realized the reason Is to the due popularity of mobile games, computer games and somehow goes inside computers and went to the games instead of the internet in general, it’s online games replacing arcade machines.
