That area south of makua cave and makua beach was my favorite spot for Tako back in the late 60's, I would sell all that I found to Tamura market for extra spending money. I remember back then there were a lot more fish. I mainly went for Tako.
I love hearing stories about fishing and diving back in the day 💯 That’s crazy Tamuras was around back then! But ya there’s not much fish as before, sadly
Killa run towards the oncoming cars. That way you can see and possibly have the time to avoid/dodge the papule drivers! As much as possible never have your back towards the cars.
Tako is good Ulua bait but I prefer eel. Strip it into white strips and use big baits. The bigger the bait the bigger the fish. We used to fish Kalaupapa with 6/0 and hang the puhi in the surge. Just dangle the puhi. The ulua hooks itself. The small fish no eat the puhi like they eat the tako. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Another trick, take the puhi and throw em in the fire for soften en up. Throw em into a porous bag and smash em in the rocks. Tie one rope and throw em in the water as palu. Work good on cliffs where the water surge. The ulua come if they patrolling. 🤙🤙🤙
