The Hahnemühle paper certainly took a lot of work! I'm pleased to see that, because so far, I simply haven't used mine (essential gardening taking its toll on my energy levels!). Thanks for showing us that and the amazing landscape via the photos and paintings, and for sharing some of your precious holiday with us, Miranda! I would love to be there to see one of those sunsets, but it'd have to be a flying visit, cos I frizzle up in the heat! Is there any life in and around the lake, and if so, what sort of little creatures? Is it safe to swim?
Sadly my initial assessment of the sketchbook paper was better than it really was. They are also inconsistent -- the one I painted in first was better than the next one I started.
So nice to find someone else worn out by gardening. Constant battle here with squirrels & birds. Hampered by not wanting to do anything to harm them. Pesky rascals just cleaned out the seeds on my fennel plants.
I'm still reserving full judgement on the page at this point, but it seems decent so far, thank goodness. There are a few small things I'll point out in the next video or so, but nothing major so far. This make us a fun location - a lot of fish, antelopes and coyotes. Definitely safe to swim and play in the water. We did a lot of wake-boarding, knee-boarding, water-skiing, paddle-boarding and just some plain swimming. It was great. Gardening takes a lot of work; that's why I didn't end up starting mine this year, darn it. 😑 Love hearing from you. ❤️
You look fantastic! Relaxed & glowing. Favorite photo is of course the muted sunset right before the 1st campfire photo. Would love for to paint it one of these days.
Hi Miranda! You are in my neck of the woods. We love the gorge! We live about an hour away. I agree with you about the beautiful sunsets! Your paintings are really nice. I take watercolor classes and have been taught not to use black or Payne’s gray. If I want a darker color I mix it (like you did) and you get a much better color. I’m excited for you to begin inktober. 😁
Hi! I've really been enjoying our trips to the Gorge; it's much less busy than Powell and more affordable to get there. I do love mixing black into my other colors (especially a PBk11, but it'll be fun to start running out of all the colors here eventually!
Absolutely LOVE this new video! I have the hahnemuhle 100% cotton sketchbook and I have to say, I'm not that impressed....I wish it had more texture and I feel like it's nnot as predictable as I'd like. Your pictures and painting are STUNNING.

I bought a new computer for home, but I was hoping this one would still work for travel, but I don't think so now. I need my travel one to be flawless. I almost hit Place Order on a new one for traveling, but I'm going to wait a few more weeks. I'll probably regret that, lol.
