    Thanks for providing us with this information. I own a 2020 1025 that is affected by this recall. I’ve called JD when I first got the letter and was told that my dealer would be in contact with me shortly. As of today no one has contacted me. I even called the dealer. They said I was on the list and it should be taken care of shortly. That was almost 2 months ago. Still waiting and have an unusable tractor. This is just another issue I’ve had with the tractor. I’ve had so many problems with it that Deere had to give me an extended warranty to offset all of the issues.I thought I was buying the best tractor and spent thousands more.I’m really rethinking my choice at this point.

    A couple years ago I bought a Kubota B2601. I had looked at the 2025R at the time. I recall making a decision around having independent brakes, as I am used to them on my larger tractor. Glad I didn't go with JD as I would have killed myself as much as I have to use the brakes going downhill on our place in some areas, even in low range, to have fine control over what I am working on. The warranty and travel back to the shop has always been a sore spot. But no way they are going to shell out that much money. Unfortunately it probably means a lot of people will elect not to have the repair done, and years from now people will pay the price of that decision. I wonder if they marked the new parts so you could easily tell if the new part has been applied.

    THANKS FOR THIS INFO!!! I wouldve never known. My 2017 1025R is part of the recall and Im the 3rd owner so I just got off the phone with Deere and had to register my SN with my name for the work to be done local instead of the original dealer

    Thanks Mike, for explaining the recall. I don't have any of the recalled tractors, nor will I be buying anything in that size range. I appreciate you being clear about how it is one of "those things" that can happen. I don't blame JD for anything but hiring "engineers" that have no experience with equipment, no idea what its supposed to do, and never having to have worked on or with what they designed. I don't care what Brand, the ones that design a machine should have to maintain one of them, and be able to know what it takes to repair it. Like putting a 3" filter with 2" of clearance is just a sign of being ignorant of a simple thing.

    Mike, I used to write Kubota warranties at our dealership over in Farmington MO. Now it’s been 4-5 years since I’ve done one but Kubota did have a travel allowance for pickup and delivery that I could claim when filing the warranty. Other times, the manufacturer would offer a travel allowance as part of a special warranty recall, even if their published warranty specified that travel to and from the dealer was not covered. Thanks for covering this important issue!

    I didn't get a letter from JD yet. But I did see a video from Tractor Time with Tim talking about it. Thanks for making another video. Tractor Time didn't go into details like you have.

    My 2025R was built in JANUARY OF 2019. The letter said they would be fixing the oldest machines first. Mine is due the end of October. I was the first to notify my dealer. The last conversation with my dealer they had not received parts. The dealer said they had not decided where the repair would be done but they would provide transportation if they had to bring it in.

    I decided not to wait on JD parts to be made, and I bought a bell crank for my 2025R off Ebay ($53). This one was fabricated with steel and welded(much stronger). It took me less than 45 minutes to install, and would probably take someone who has done it before about 25 minutes. I suggest you put the tractor on level ground and block the wheels for safety. Use a 13mm wrench (a 1/2 inch will also work, but remember the two bolts are metric, M8 - 1.25) and it is helpful to have a long screwdriver for leveraging off the rod that goes back to the rear axle/brake. When finished, I replaced the cotter pin with a new one. Remember that the rod (which goes to the back of the tractor) is on springs and can be pulled forward by hand, to help you line up the brake rod hole in the crank. Both original bolts through the bell crank do NOT have nuts. You will see that the original bolts (when backing them out) will literally eventually hit part of the frame, but if you tip the head of the bolt back and wriggle, you have just enough room to get the bolts completely out. I used a ratcheting 1/2" box wrench, but then had to switch to a crescent wrench, otherwise the ratcheting wrench will get stuck [because the bolts are flanged] when the bolt is nearly out. Note that only the axle (?) itself is threaded. I discovered that the original bell crank is cast [aluminum ???] and cheaply made. The cast crank is only threaded about 25%. There is no need to jack the tractor up because there is plenty of room [unless you have a big stomach] to crawl on your back under the right side of the tractor. The bell crank is on the RIGHT side of the tractor, directly beneath where the heal of your shoe is, when your right foot is on the (foreward/reverse) pedals. It's a simple fix because the part is 100% metal and there is no electronics or plastics, etc., involved. Local people are fabricating them from steel in their shops [welding]. JD plans on sending techs to your home and doing the needed replacements there, so you don't have to go to a dealership. But the fix is pretty easy, if you want to do it yourself. Again, I got the part for about $53 from someone probably fabricating them in their garage or metal working job. Honestly, a 12 year old boy could probably figure out how to do the removal/installation, but remember, the rod that goes between the crank and the rear brakes is with springs so it can be easily moved back and forth to line it up with the crank hole (top) again. [Don't have the parking brake on when doing the replacement.]

    Got the recall in Australia too. Unfortunately they are forecasting a 3 month wait for parts, so that's a little inconvenient as its coming into summer and all the grass is madly growing.

    My dealer said if I am bringing it in myself I can wait.Said about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes for the repair. The new part will be made of steel.

    Hi Mike, wasn’t sure how to ask you a question so I thought I would leave it in the comment. I have a bush hog that I’ll be taking off for the first time(. Ew tractor). I can’t store it inside so I have to put it outdoors. Should I cover it with a tarp or leave it exposed? Thnx Barry

    Fortunately i live in a pretty flat place so the most i use my brake for is parking. Bought mine when i still worked at a JD dealership. It's a quick easy repair so I'll probably do it myself.

    I called my dealer earlier today. The service manager said they are still waiting on delivery of the repair part for tractors in the October group (1st group to be repaired). My tractor is in the December repair group (3rd repair group). It will most likely be early 2025 before my tractor comes up for repair. The service manager said he will called me when my tractor can be repaired. I ask and he said they will pick up the tractor and repair it at the dealership. He didn’t tell me that I would have to pay for trucking. I hope that means I don’t. Haha

      Me, a lot. More as a park brake than a brake brake.
      Its reasonably hilly in my parts and its handy to stop the tractor rolling through the gate before the gate gets opened.

    • @coypatton3160
      @coypatton3160 2 месяца назад

      If you live in hills, you use brakes a lot.
      If you only use the brakes as a parking brake, build yourself a couple of wheel chocks and use them until repairs. If in hills, you may he in trouble. Deere telling you to not use the tractor, means they will not cover crashes/rollovers/injuries or anything else related to you using the tractor after the date of their letter.

      Proprietary software. Get a non Apple certified repair person to fix your iPhone, iPad, etc. Or try to get CNH or AGCO to let you access their systems. Making patented software available really negates the purpose of a patent. Right to Repair is a b/s thing, NAPA will sell you every filter you need, but they can't sell you a front axle, or specific bearings for that axle. Brand doesn't matter. Or any other proprietary parts.
