I was at the museum when he picked this car up. He told me it would never be driven cause he signed the title over to his 1 year old granddaughter. It was awesome. Rip buddy

Dave Ressler is from my hometown. Started out as a car salesman then eventually bought dealership and then later bought many in the Ressler group. He eventually moved to Billings Mt. Dave is deceased now. He passed away 11/7/2017 in Bozeman, Mt. He was only 61. He bought I think at this auction or previous auction a 1953 Corvette which was 3rd ever built. A lot of millionaires in ND made so by oil industry. They in turn made Dave rich. I’d bought several vehicles from his former hometown dealership. He’d sold it to another gentleman who I bought my 2015 Silverado Midnight Edition. It’s changed hands recently again.
This car being the first release makes it a huge collectors item, he will get a return on his money.
Amazing car, amazingly high price to pay. I would personally love to drive one but never at that price.
I Guess in 40 years ill see very ZR1 again for sale at the same price :D

The zr1 was offered from 1990-1995.
the msrp of a 1990 zr1 was 59k. If you adjust it for inflation the price of this car in 2007 is 97.5k. The 09 numbers arent out yet but that would put the 90zr1 at or above 100k . this cars msrp is right around 100k. One HELL OF A DEAL...this thing destroys the old zr1 in every single way.

This car is the ultimate performance car as far as what you get for your money. Period.
The horsepower for the regular GT-R is already about 550. 3 methods show this. 1) Simple equation torque x RPM all devided by 5252 gives horsepower. That is ~530hp. 2) In order for a car to maintain the performance of another it takes 10hp for every 100lbs. For a 3900lb GT-R to stay with a 3100lb corvette it needs 585hp. 3) It is said in Japan the GT-R makes 480whp. Factor in 15% drivetrain loss and you get 573hp.

This car is going to be the greatest american made muscle car ever. Said to do 0-60 in 3.1 - 3.3 secs on stock tires and out handle the predessor with its state of the art MSRC. Weighing in at a mere 3,350 pounds, you can expect to see upper 10's - 11.2 in the Quarter. In it's price range of 100k - 150k nothing will come close to touching it... period.
In 1969 gm released the ZL1 corvette with the all aluminum big block which would hit well over 200 mph.. its is one of the fastest cars in the world to date... they only made 2 (not production) but that was 40 years ago.. im not calling down your inline 6 because those are amazing motors to... just dont call down gm.. this new vette is more powerful and handles better than any ferrari for half the price... thats pretty dam impressive!

GT3,GT2, and 911 turbo are the only ones that you really need to remember. And the new ZR1 I gotta say I like it but I can't comment on the performance until it is actually tested. I wonder what the weight is compared to a regular Z06?

GTR's MSRP is somewhere around 70k, but dealer markup puts it around 100k, because of the extreme demand of the vechicle.

to mattyy; yeah, there's no modified version of the ZR1, because its only been out for but much less time as the ford GT.. you wait and the ZR1 will have been tuned & offered in multiple performance packages, and the GT will have quite the competition, if not already.

You've obviously never seen noteworthy first vehicles go up for sale/auction. Recently the first Mustang 500Gt went for some ridiculous amount. Collectors want the first of everything. More power to them.

They are holding around $125000 Canadian in. 2023. Some guys asking up to $160000.00. Hoping in 25 years they go up and become a legend wich they were at the time.
Your right and I agree that the ferrari Enzo is a fantastic car. Maybe even museum quality. Now to answer your question why they used the same brakes on the ZR1 as they do on the Enzo. Because they work. Here's the kicker though, The Enzo came out with an MSRP of $730,000. Actually they sold for about million. The ZR1 will cost $105,000. So if one wanted they can switch the interior out for some else. Since as you said the Corvette uses cheap platics on it interior. You can
also drive it daily.

@Riles07 The difference in gas mileage isn't really that significant. It does not cost less to repair, and it costs a hell of a lot more the insure. The base warranties are the same, 3 years 36,000 miles, the drivetrain for the gtr is 5 years 60,000 miles, and the drivetrain for the ZR1 is 5 years 100,000 miles.

- I'm jealous, mines just a regular C6. I was however promised about 560HP to the rear wheels for a 10K supercharger kit (installed) here in Canada, but still not the same as a Z06 by miles.
this car is one fantastic car yes. You are also correct that it has more power with upgraded suspension with upgraded brakes. The Only competition this car really has is the new nissan GT-R. The zo6 ran 7:43 on the nurburgring while the gt-r ran a 7:38. I also heard this ZR-1 ran around a 7:40 which is hard to understand because this car seems faster then the zo6 by quite a lot. Also the new GT-R spec V coming out in a while is supposed to run 7:25. I like this car just pointing it out.

I agree that you cannot get better than a z06 for the price. But over here in europe it isn't as practical as it is in america, largly due to smaller road.

id rather get the vpec as well even though there arent many deatils out about yet but if its gonna keep up with the Zr1, the you know its gonna be incredible and not only that you can drive it no matter what the weather is rain, shine, snow and ice.

Actually I much prefer the Ferrari to the vette. I love the way they look, the smell of the leather, the way the suspension is setup, how they feel on the road, the F1 trans is incredible,and of course the way the engine sounds. Hell even the steering wheel has a different feel that only a Ferrari gives you. However, the vette has a kind of brute force that the Ferrari does not. For the money its a great car.

i went for a ride in zr1 this afternoon and its the coolest car ever...... anyone else been for a ride in one of those yet.... haha probably not... we only hit 130 on the freeway though... and 130 felt pretty slow. i wanted to go 200.
By the way Jay this car will kick ass when new higher quality seats are installed.

Yup and with does leaf springs it kicks ass and wins races ve the worlds best. Thats why they still use leaf springs.
actually its 50k for skyline but they take off all the goodies off the hood and when it its shipped to the U.S nissan can put all the upgrades back in and with all the extra charges it will run you a little above 90k so if i can pay 100k for a vette or 90k for a skyline then i take my changes with a zr1 plus it is sexier

Well a few things, the GTR's top spead was 208 and the Z06 was 206. YOu are right on the price. The GTR is going to be listed at about 100K b/c of MSRP over from shipping cost. I know this for a fact b/c I have a family member who is a General MGR. for a dealership. The GTR also does 0-60 inside 3.3 where the ZR-1 is at. top speed of the ZR-1 is at 220.

Jay didn't get the 1st "RETAIL" ZR1. He received serial # 00001, which was NOT available for retail to the general public.

they built a total of 2 rs390's.they were also no production race cars. they were also slower than the zr-1 in the 1/4 at 11.3. and they are not listed on the list of cars that have ran nurburgring...whats your point?

I own a C6 Z06, I ran a 11.4 @ 126, BONE STOCK on street tires. The ZR1 with a good driver should be able to go 10's on street tires and 9's on Drag Radials, stock.
