Your passion about roses prompted me to get one - I thought of them as old-fashioned, but these days I am loving those flowers nostalgic to my childhood: Roses, lilacs, lily of the valley, honeysuckle, marigolds, begonias, and geraniums. Planted my David Austin Graham Thomas last evening - fingers X'd! Strawberry Hill looks great in her obelisk - you treated her with TLC.
Hello! Yes the old but goodies in the garden! It’s nice to walk around and have these plants take one back in time. This one reminds us of our childhood because of it’s fragrance. Graham Thomas 😍 beautiful! A stunning rose! Strawberry Hill looked a little upset that wild girl didn’t want to be trained. Ambrose was so scratched afterwards lol. She’s doing great and looking lovely. Enjoy your beautiful rose! 🙏💐💚
Wow, that was quite a feat that you accomplished, Ambrose. Such a great idea to use the obelisk, and it looks absolutely heavenly! I love seeing you and Angie back in the front yard! Your videos are so wonderful and inspirational! 🌹🌹
Fine you broke me! I just bought a drift rose so I have my double knockout and a drift rose. I was reading online that you can train the carpet or drift roses to climb and they're gorgeous! Who knows what I'll do with it but I'm sure it'll be beautiful regardless! That Strawberry Hill is absolutely gorgeous, the perfect pink!
Great video! Very informative about supporting a climber. You've inspired me to consider adding Strawberry Hill to my garden. Thanks for the great content!
So beautiful! I love the obelisk, though the process of arranging everything can be stressful! Lol. Great job. And, awesome placement like you said for as soon as you walk out of your door!
Love this post ! So informative and timely ! In fact I just bought a Strawberry Hill and planning on training it up on my obelisk to replace the clematis that wilted so, absolutely perfect timing ! Thanks 🤩
That was nerve wracking, but looks so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your love on roses, to me they are so intimidating but you make it sound easier than I thought. Love the obelisk!!
Now THIS is the kind of rose review I like! Very comprehensive. I appreciate you stating the age. I just planted 2 bare root Strawberry Hills (plus Generous Gardener, Gertrude Jekyll, Olivia Rose Austin, James Austin, and Princess Alexandria of Kent), yesterday. I was wondering how long it would take to see this kind of growth. Keep up the good work!
For bare root it depends on the variety. Some take off fast with foliage and very little buds. Some will produce foliage and blooms quickly. In a matter of a month though you will be be able to tell if your getting foliage or foliage and some budding.
Love this video 😀 can’t wait to see your rose video 😃 so much good information & inspiration for when I start my rose garden 😉 going to be ordering a few obelisks. Thank you 😊
You are welcome! And wow!!! I had to look up your rose! It’s a beautiful rose. I love red roses and it is beautiful. They Will look stunning in obelisk. 🙏💐💚
I’m planting this next year! Placing my order! I’m in zone 7a and making a rose arch. My question is does the blooms last long? I was going with generous gardener but then I heard that the blooms blow very quickly. Thanks for any advice you can give!!
So you know! 😆😂 Yes! I couldn’t believe he managed to put Strawberry Hill in the obelisk. I do love the obelisk that rose needed it. Have a lovely day! 🙏💐💚
Nice job, gorgeous Rose, seems I say that about every David Austin I see =^) Do you plant your Roses in containers because you find it's easier to keep them healthy that way.? And bonus, easy to take with you should you move.
Your channel has helped me so much. I purchased a gertude jeckell bc of your page. What size container are you using? Do you suggest one or two roses to grow in a obelisk?
Hi, I can’t decide which rose to choose. I was hoping you would help me to decide I should choose Strawberry Hill or Gertrude Jekyll. I am going to plant the rose on the entrance of the garden so I would love to see blooms for long period of times. Thank you.
If you would like a rebloomer Strawberries hi would be amazing! There are so many more DA roses climbers you can check out their website. Also Proven Winners has new climbers they are beautiful Abd should rebloom. We will talk about those soon. They are very disease residuals well. 💐💚

Beautiful! Is this rose in a container or in the ground? I'm guessing it's in ground but just wanted to check-- how do climbers/ramblers do in containers?
This rose is in a container. Climbers and rambler do well in containers with the proper care. Search one of our videos on training a climbing roses. You will see that is in a container and doing extremely well.
@@GardenObsessions Oooh, perfect! I have a couple climbers I put in containers, was crossing my fingers they will climb up a moongate that I bought, so your confirmation is very good news! I will check out that video, thank you!
Get some gloves on! I have a "Generous Gardener" David Austin rose that is growing like that, but it's in a corner of the yard, so I let it go. It's beautiful, covered with roses.

So you know! 😆😂 Yes! I couldn’t believe he managed to put Strawberry Hill in the obelisk. I do love the obelisk that rose needed it. Have a lovely day! 🙏💐💚
Should I put the obelisk in the pot before it grows ?
Why did you plant it in a planter? And how many hours of sun does it get?
OMG Ustedes Tienen un Arbusto de LiLac 💜😍
Hola!! Si el oroma del lila con la rosa es muy lindo! 🙏💐💚

It is a 6' obelisk and a 10' rose...does that extra height just get wrapped around?
Wonderful! I was wondering how you train your roses on the fence and the red wall on a way that looks invisible- do you use fishing wire?
We use picture frame hooks that are big enough for the cane to be removed in the future.
Heavy duty leather gloves that go up to or past the elbows.

We got this from Amazon. It is now linked in the description. Thank you for watching .💚💚💚💚💚💚
I just purchased a strawberry hill rose. The tag said it is a shrub rose, but the website says it’s a climbing rose. Now, I’m a little confused. 🤔
