Using the Namco Jogcon in neGcon mode

- Holding the Jogcon's mode button down while the console starts up switches it into a neGcon-compatible mode that lets you use the controller with a much wider library of games. It lacks the analogue inputs and the jog wheel doesn't have an end stop so it's not a particularly good replacement, but it's a nice feature that I can't find any other mention of online so I thought I'd put together a video to demonstrate it.

I am astounded that this is possible- had no idea. Is this feature mentioned in the manual?
I'm not sure, I don't have the original packaging or manual for the Jogcon and stumbled on the feature by accident. I couldn't find any other mentions of it online which is why I put the video together.

Yes, thank you! Going to try it out now. Love the NeGcon, the JoGcon not so much but the idea of playing the original Ridge Racer or Ace Combat with this seems interesting to me.

Nice trick you teach here, its amazing to have more games that can be played with it. Can you tell me what titles those are?
The Wikipedia article for "neGcon" is a good starting point, I think, it has a list of compatible games. :) The Jogcon is not an ideal replacement as it lacks the analogue face buttons and doesn't return to centre but if you experiment with some of the games on that list you might find some that work well. @@miguelcarneiro1192 What adaptor are you using? The adaptor needs to be able to support the protocol for each controller that it translates to a USB HID joystick. I have one of those no-name blue triangular adaptors with two ports and it does support the neGcon protocol but not he Jogcon protocol. If I put the Jogcon in neGcon mode it does work. I can't recommend the adaptor otherwise, mine came faulty (I needed to solder in a missing diode) and last time I looked there were no vibration-compatible drivers for modern 64-bit Windows.

My pc recognizes de Jogcon using this adapter as an Playstation3 controller but its input keys isnt recognized.
What adapter you use with your Jogcon?
With ps2 to ps4 converter, i can play ps3, ps4 and pc games using jog con. Although ffb not working, but still fun for racing games. 👍
why these days there are no joysticks like this... 😆😆😆 it’s hard to find similar to this.
How did I get the JogCon Ridge Racer pack when it came out and not know about this. I still have all my PSX and PSone stuff, so I'm going to try this.
The best game for the JogCon I've used is V-Rally 2, it is a hassle to adjust the settings correctly, but once you've figured that out it is the most impressive force-feedback I've experienced on any system. Mud actually feels like mud and snow feels like snow, it is really amazing.

I bought my controllers loose so don't know if this feature was ever mentioned in an instruction booklet, but I couldn't find anything else about it online so I thought I'd put this video together. I'll need to have another play with V-Rally 2, I never really got into it as I found the physics very weird and the tracks fairly uninspiring. Do you remember what settings you'd recommend for the Jogcon?

I'll have to see if I can find my PSX save game to check what settings I was using.

I bought my jogcon yrsterday on an auction in Japan and i am waiting it to arrive, cant wait 😀 It is difficulte to set it on this game? I liked very much when you described that with the jogcon on V-Rally we can feel mud or snow
Does this pad work with Tempest X3?
I don't have a copy to test with myself, I'm afraid to say. According to Wikipedia "The PlayStation version of Tempest X3 supports the PlayStation Mouse, Nyco Trackball and Namco's rotary neGcon analog controller" so you should be able to get it to work in the neGcon compatibility mode. It won't give you direct rotary control like that, unfortunately.However, this thread - www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=353752 - claims that it does support it ("These have better results with true SPINNER CONTROL! Instant positioning of the object on the screen! Games verified include Warlords, Super Breakout, Pole Position and a very nice surprise, Tempest X3!").

I don't know, but it has the option.
Maybe you can get more out of your Jogcon with this option.

No, there is no neGcon support in Gran Turismo 3 and 4 - sorry! brittens.org/NegCon.html is a good compatibility list.
