  • Here's a video detailing the design and operation of my homemade wet/vac Record Cleaning Machine. While commercial wet/vac RCM units are available, this is an inexpensive and effective alternative. Quick and efficient, this machine can used to clean records ranging from 7" 45's to 16" transcription discs.

you probably dont care but if you are bored like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my girlfriend during the lockdown =)

Drill a small hole in the tube to regulate the suction. I noticed how difficult it was rotating the turntable when vacuuming.

Thanks for the info on your DIY machine. I use to hit the Goodwill's regularly to try and find something worthwhile but put that to rest for a while until I feel safe to go out. I currently am working on Black Sabbath that I picked up with no cover or sleeve. Anyway, I am not paying those high dollars for a cleaning machine and typically just use a distilled water/alcohol/dawn mixture but today I got my first bottle of Photo Flo to see if that makes any difference. I been thinking about getting a ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight to see if albums will fit in that and make my own machine with that. I do like this though and may try this too for drying them. Thanks again and take care.

Guess some posh hifi nerds will get a heart attack from this video.
Maybe also makers of overpriced hifi equipment 😂

Maybe. I remember my friend Gary watching me clean LPs on my RCM for the first time. He was shocked that I so vigorously applied pressure on the brushes to clean records. He questioned whether that damaged the records. No of course it doesn't. The brushes are soft and flexible and vinyl is resilient and tough. He left convinced of the value of the RCM in cleaning records and set about building his own DIY RCM shortly thereafter.
