Leighton Phillips was a fine defender. Saw him at the end of his career at Charlton Athletic, and he always seemed so composed, even when things were going badly, which they often did at The Valley !!
I was a 19 year old villa fan first time at the old Wembley . Not a great game. I enjoy the day out with all the villa fans. and we won the league Cup in the end Up the villa
The worst "away" day ever. We were late getting there (roadworks) and VERY late getting home (more road works) The game was garbage and we eventually lost the 2nd replay. Apart from that it was great!!
Best part here were the interviews, some very good comments. Must admit as a Villa fanatic, I did not go to any of the three games even though I was a season ticket holder and could have got tickets. I think it was the final two years earlier versus Norwich, again a poor game which put me off. I vaguely remember that the first replay at Hillsborough was just as bad as this game apparently but at least there was a goal apiece to cheer.
i was on way to a school trip to France day of this match we stopped at services and i found a ticket to the match on the floor ,word must have got round and within 10 minutes our coach was surrounded by around 50 scousers all saying it was their ticket 🤣🤣🤣
I was there. Thanks for posting this.
