Awesome. Thos is probably one of the few see or roce, that's how you should pronounce it, I don't know. Amazing especially at the end. Unbelievable I don't hype anything up without reason but this band are the best band on the planet. I'm not joking

9A has a very ethereal feel to it... does anyone know where i can find another version/performance of it

Coudlnt prase my ? right in that limited box... but basically what i meant was here in US, a "mainstream" music fan (who listens to pop/hiphop/country that is on the radio) most likely has either not heard of, or does not like, Sigur Ros.... I was wondering if, in Iceland, they are enjoyed by the same ppl that also listen to pop music and whatnot or if they are viewed, much as they are here, as a very different and more obscure band? Do Icelandic people consider them one of their greatest acts?

Anyone have a clean version of the video or have it as a screen saver?

I have the screensaver. Had it since it came out. Now that QuickTime is a security flaw, it doesn't work anymore... RIP

It's sampled sounds and a old Roland synth. Google their gear.

  • @PassionOfDenmark

    It's UNTITLED track: 9a + 9b + 9c

I've heard Jon say it a lot of times on videos/interviews; maybe its just the accent that gives it that long "I" sound to my ears. Hey, since you are Icelandic, maybe you can answer something i've been wondering- S.R. is obviously popular all over the world, but many seem to thnk of them as an artsy/experimental/cult-classic kind of band (most either love them or have never heard of them). In Iceland, are they very popular as a mainstream act, or are they more obscure?

Anybody know the type of instrument used? Some sort of synth?

Apparently the B part has Orri (usually the drummer) playing keys on the studio version. Does anyone know whether he plays it live too?

I know this is 13 years late, but yeah, he did it play it live when I saw them in 2015

ehhh agree and disagree... you're right-- its not quite see-or-roce... but on the other hand, i've heard people say it Sig-ur-Ross (w/ sig said like "cig"arrette), which is way off... if you hear one of them say it, its Seeg-or-Ros w/ that soft G and short S... sorry if im bein "that guy" haha just figured i'd shed some light

  • @KuggurMusic

pronouncing it like "cig"arrette is the correct way, but you´re right that "Ross" is far off. It´s simply "Rose" just like you pronounce it in English, it´s the same word.
I don´t want to be "that guy" either, but I´m Icelandic, can´t help it hehe.

Sorry sonicrules666 pronouncing Sigur Rós as "see or roce" is far off!
