Though brief but very touching lecture by the Shaikh. It seems he is gold mine and how lucky are those who happened to know and listen to his lecture. The idea of boredom whilst reciting a prayer is so similar to buddhist practice in meditaiton. Theres a whole framework around overcomomg boredom, disraction etc. I would love to do a theological comparison of islam and buddhism. There are some very strong similarities.
I meant the Sufi aspect, which Ive seen a ton of times online described as deviant or innovation and so not 'proper' Islam. There seems to be a lot of law based muslims about (or maybe they are just the most vocal ones) who seem, to me, to be promoting Islam as a strictly ritual based religion which is dry and harsh, over the more intelligent, spiritual, inner and outer tradition presented here.
I think that some of the innovations are necessary as society cannot remain as the same as mid Arabia in 600 AD as long as the main beliefs aren’t violated or misconstrued or shirk does not occur than in my limited knowledge should be so strongly objected well at least vocally.
A living legend in the knowledge of Islam. Sheikh Tim Winters ( Abdul Hakeem Muraad) . I bet any young man or woman who gets high on drugs , can get rid of its drug habits by getting high on the love of God and the Messenger of God and doing Zikr. ( rememberance , repeatedly in the most loving and manner and thus achieving peace , happiness and truely love humanity for the love of God. And thus not be bothered by our own limitations. Except engaging in the unconditional love of humanity for the love of God.)
It's all about "belief"; that's the test of this transient life. You don't see your Creator with your own eyes, can't reach that Creator/Sustainer with your physical senses, but belief in Him is innate, ingrained, and then corrupted in one's life by various external factors - or - nurtured, developed and consequently molds a person into a righteous, God-conscious person.... No coincidence that everything is perfectly accurately set, the sun, the earth - so we humans can survive on this planet ☺
@artistdigital Salaam sufism or Tasawuff is specifically the internal aspect of Islam - In Islam marriage is seen as a good thing and one of the ways in fufiling the deen - indeed Marraige makes up half of our deen. Having a healthy relationship with ones spouse is seen as a virtue and celibacy is not seen as agreat thing in Islam. peace
When a woman is ovulating, there are a lot of hormonal changes that take place inside her body. In fact, two hormones, named estrogen and progesterone rise and fall at various points during the whole ovulation process. These changes produce a number of changes in the discharge during, before or after ovulation. Nearing ovulation, the woman starts getting a white colored discharge.
@zafthedon W/Salam, I agree! This is exactly what I was trying to say. Tassawaf basically focuses on Tazkia Nafsi, which is controlling desires to stay within the limits prescribed by the Law(Sharia)I.
How can someone communicate with sir Abdulhakim Murad ??? There are loads of additions and good tidings which must be delivered to him .... would anyone help??
I find it sad that people still attack and bash other religions. Especially in this age of abundant and accessible information people should be open and accept each others beliefs and ideas. No one is asking or forcing anyone to join so why do people feel the need to be so ignorant towards this religion or any religion? Every religion on this earth has one thing in common and that is a "higher power" instead of hate and bashing each others beliefs we should as humans help and educate each other
meaning of life according to you - we were somehow conceived from nothingness, you are returning to nothingness but in-between this nothingness, you have something... definition of which differs from one atheist to the other. Quran 2:242 "Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you might use reason." When you have faith in yourself that you will do great on a test, it is not suspension of reason but it supports reasoning, the reason being you having prepared for it well enough.
Im confused. This lecture presents a view of Islam that I have many other places as being essentially 'deviant'; why is that so? Has Islam deteriorated so much that this inner essence has been lost by many muslims today (lack of proper education etc). Of course Im sure all muslim groups assert their position as the 'true' followers and representation of the faith. Any clarification on this would be helpful
Thanks for the suggestion, it's a nifty term though it flirts heavily with becoming oxymoronic. Mr Trungpa postulates some things I take issue with. He thinks through a belief system, one tries to acquire happiness in this world but it leads to long term suffering. Quran 94:6 "Lo! with hardship goeth ease;" - Islam doesn't assert lasting happiness in this world. As for the ego, Islam goes in depth & examines the negative externalities arising from the self, eg, the Islamic concept of "riyaa"
I never said God came from Nothing, I do not know where God came from, nor is it in my ability as a human to comprehend God's origin, but I do intend to ask God that. But please do not avoid the question, is there a Physicist explanation to everything coming from nothing? I am interested in this possible philosophy.
If it is a self generated delusion, there is no way to prove that. In fact, the fundamental dilemma for any believer is whether to attribute visions to fancy or external sources. Everyone struggles with this, not just free thinkers.
Again, I will not entertain the extraneous caricature you love coming up with but the question toward the end is relevant. If a teacher has a pretty good idea of how some of his students are going to do in a test (because he knows who has been preparing well enough), would you tell him to not have the test carried out & just grade them based on his knowledge? Study some theology sir. How is it like not being a "know it all" & going around crying "stop believing in fairy tales"? it's nice :)
Relax.. soon you will come to know what the Truth is - but you are hasty - everything has a time and place and soon you will be entertained by the All Knowing. If you really believe this life is meaningless and totally random, that there is no God & God has not communicated anything to Man, then right and wrong are subjective and have no real meaning, you may do what you like and good, evil, morals and virtues have no meaning - one person's values will differ from another and so on, what a world
We'd argue against those who think in the way that U think [and perceive life/existence] by stating that the fact that "human consciousness is pattern seeking" is something that didnt just come out of the blue -voila! No, we'd argue that That was placed in the human mind. We were MADE that way, in other words. With a desire 2 recognize & submit 2 our Creator. After all we came from just a lifeless sperm-drop, and now have the audacity to deny the One who gave us the ability to think, rationalize
The Quran (arguably the Final Testament from the Creator of us human beings), 16:4: خلق الإنسان من نطفة فإذا هو خصيم مبين "He [God] created the human being from a small sperm-drop (lit. Nutfah, i.e. mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge); and behold, this same (human being) now becomes an open disputer/opponent (an argumentative adversary)!" ☺ ;)

Or wait... Maybe you're his long lost father!! Okay, in this case your petty griping is totally understandable. Repeat after me: "Murad... I am your father!!!!" (in classic James Earl Jones prose, for effect)
Then you shouldn't you be Salafiphobic? Islam is very diverse indeed What have you to fear from Barelvism, Alevism or Tablighi Jamaat? (To take only a few contrasting examples, but embracing many millions and vastly outnumbering the nutters.)
"As for meaning? why does it have to have meaning?" - so a meaningless life? wonder how enriching that might be.... will probably make one a habitual depressant. You put atheists to shame sir. Some at least try to make up a meaning for their lives however unbelievable it actually sounds.
Unbelief is rooted in reassuring arrogance. Despite the word "mysticism" in the title of the vid, you just cannot stop yourself from having a dig at metaphors. Worse still is the fact that many zealous atheists do the same thing, there is a pattern emerging. Agnostics make your little movement look a bit too extreme. I am just as certain that you are deluded in your arrogance as you are in accusing muslims of it. You will be confirmed in your unbelief & we will be confirmed in belief.
I think you are hilarious and right that there is a great amount of nonsensical beliefs in religion. However I worship Hermes or the number 4 because I am compelled to by an unrelenting force. The origin of this force cannot be determined, and is simply not important to the act of worship. I hypothesize that Hermes is the One True God and that He tricks because Truth has a right to trick.
Very good till sexuality! You may read the works of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani(ra), and find the aspect of sex in Sufism and you'd change your view. Sex is also abstained from in Sufism. Most saints don't marry unless they reach certain spiritual state and many marry not for sex but as obedience to commandment.
