Ever since I began habitually listening to Horror Babble I have never lacked for a good story. There are so many and the stories are so good and I especially love the ones from long ago. It's like mental time travelling listening to Lovecraft and James and so many Weird Tails. And I fill with unrestrained delight every time Ian Gordon says the word 'roof'.
Great story and narration! I like this different vampire story! I have listened to your other recordings/versions on this channel before and they are all great! This is an excellent recording! Thanks!!
Fantastic reading as always, Ian! I really enjoyed this story i think it is my favorite forgotten weird tale so far. It's well paced, mysterious, creepy and very atmospheric. Would love to hear more from this author!
This was a superb tale. It truly was quite eerie and had an interesting end to it. Thanks for the awesome narration. Do you shift your voice for the various parts?
That would have been a moose head, not an elk on the wall as there are no elk in Maine as far as I know and have experienced. Great story and the usual excellent delivery.
well written and, of course, well read. the story has psychological depth and human emotion. i often wonder what short story writers exist today because there are no short story magazines like there used to be, The New Yorker only takes stories of a certain kind which are often just too affected - or have a surface "meaningfulness". O'Henry and the like, they're not. (the reason i do not like Lovecraft at all is because he has no depth - it just has stuff that's supposed to scare you - i find him boring. but - that's just my opinion.)
Very unusual version of the myth...One would think the creatures would want to avoid family and loved ones upon realizing their fate...family being "easy" prey doesn't make logical sense to me since people who are around us every day tend to notice if we act that much differently😁 Ian: In Overly Sarcastic Productions video on Dracula...Red mentions the idea of keeping a vampire in its tomb by use of a rose...Really?? ? No stakes, garlic, crucifixes, blood, hammers and screaming...?? Your wife says...oh you bought me a dozen roses?? Hell no these are for the rest of the family😃😃😃😃

So superbly delivered, of course... My thanks for the unfamiliar tale, and my sincere awe at your performance of it.
Haven't come across this story before. Amazingly well read as usual. 👍☺
I figured it out half way through the story and I enjoyed it immensely! Thank you for another wonderful story.
Fantastic reading as always, Ian! I really enjoyed this story i think it is my favorite forgotten weird tale so far. It's well paced, mysterious, creepy and very atmospheric. Would love to hear more from this author!
This is an excellent little tale. Thank you for introducing it to me.
Wonderful work as always, thank you very much!!
This is exactly the story I'm trying to hear. This was fantastic!
Thanks for all your hard work!
Thank you for bringing this forgotten gem back to (unholy) life!
Such an underrated channel
Well this one was dark...😟Wow.
Lovely reading, as usual.
What a grim little tale...
Thank you!
Is this really you Ian doing American accent. It’s amazing
Yeah, not half bad.
Usually Brits doing an American accent is almost as bad as the opposite, but I have to give props where it's due.
Thanks Lee - like most things in life, it's a work-in-progress! Ian
Not PC, Ian is appropriating another culture, lol. Sounds like a Philly accent, I was born there, and I approve.
chilling and as dark as dark can be!
This was a superb tale. It truly was quite eerie and had an interesting end to it. Thanks for the awesome narration. Do you shift your voice for the various parts?
Thanks Amy! I'm always experimenting with different voices - a never-ending experiment at that! :) Ian
@@HorrorBabble :)
No longer a ‘Forgotten Tale’ excellent story very well written.
Another great story. Thanks Ian. You might want to check out Carl Jacobi , the author of "Revelations in Black". Another great Weird Takes writer.
You had me at "Doom"!
Outstanding!😎👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great story, love the ending.
Another good one.
Had a feeling something was wrong when he tied his father to the bed... but not like that...
Loved the story!

Good job, good story👍
it's alway good to find a forgotten story - just curious, have you read the Homicidal Diary by the same author ?
I haven't Paul, though I am familiar with the title. Perhaps we'll tackle it in the future.
Really liked it
I AM READY!
Just wondering how do you find these stories? I love to explore them myself. Thank you for presenting these lost pieces of art!
Archive.org is a good place to start, Jose!
Wonderful story. Honored to give this the 666th thumbs up!
You ought to do Kiplings At the End of the Passage
Nice American accent! You surprised me with that😀
Wow. Bloch knew everyone !
Someone needs to write a biography of that man. He’s the link between Lovecraft and modern horror.
Holy s*** I never saw it coming.
Damn that was good
This seems to be similar to the "Rats in the Walls".

There's something I need to ask but I don't want to spoil the ending for everyone so Spoiler Alert.
Was Arthur the real vampire and was unaware of it?
Yes. it's implied from the painful gums and bloated feeling that he had before he killed himself
That's what I got from it, I'm like 90% sure.
... and that he was the actual killer of his two infant brothers
@@springfieldcryptids1667 Yeah, can't forget that bit! 😊✌
Yes.. his poor dad was just the 'medium' who believed he was the vampire. Awesome plot twist, hey. 👏😊✌
❤️❤️❤️
Ha! Guessed the ending!
❤️👍
🐐
Poor guy
Yo, vampires suss as fuck, bro.
a doom house?
Noice one.
You have one thumbs down. For the life of me, I can't figure why.
Don’t like the wierd ticking but great story
Ticking, Ricky?
HorrorBabble the drum I like the other opening music sorry I forgot to specify about it still keep doing great work
The opening music is specific to this series only - always the case with the Rue Morgue specials. Thanks for listening.
Wtf
