BGM: tiny light by kito akari (toilet bound hanako kun tbhk) - Кино
Why it's good:
1. No fan service so everyone even parents can enjoy
2. Relatable situation like Anya who's basically just a normal kid who hates studying and loves watching TV and playing toys
3. Engaging relationship between the parents and the child and also the child and parents life when they're busy in school and work
4. It's just a slice of life with a glitter of shonen which will make this a relaxing show but also some action and comedy.
We also get some protagonists who are actually adults, which makes for a nice change of pace.

because the animes that were popular outside japan is action-based animes (naruto, op, bleach), so people especially outside japan were expecting more action because the title is written "spy". but they forget that "spy" is not just about actions. there are more complex than that, even what anya doing at school when she reading people minds is categorized as "spying".

The interesting thing is that SpyxFamily being a slice of life is just what makes it even better, at least in my opinion. The setting of the story is actually really dark - I mean, a war survivor turned spy, an assassin trained to be one at a really young age, and a child who was never treated as such and instead experimented on. And they are currently in a period of delicate peace right after war where the slightest, smallest mistake can ruin everything.
But the show still manages to be wholesome and light-hearted, almost like a light in the dark. Yes, the characters have dealt and still deals with so much dark stuff, but that doesn't make them any less deserving of a warm home to welcome them back. They shouldn't be miserable for the sake of being miserable to reflect the setting. Rather, they are happy because that is precisely what they are fighting for in the first place, and they deserve to be happy.
The characters grow and develop into a tightly knit family where they learn to care for and to be cared by each other, to be gentle and supportive of each other, and to lean on each other. They all get to have that support they badly needed in the years prior where they had to shoulder more than they're supposed to bear. It's sweet.
And bonus! They don't sacrifice the dark reality of the show either, even with everything. They're not afraid to pull out all the heavy stuff when time comes.
It’s extremely realistic, which I love!
"They shouldn't be miserable just for the sake of being miserable", that's a very well put sentence. Something I really hate about how people view media is that they believe that, for something to be good/serious/realistic, etc., tragedies must happen, people have to die and everything has to be grim and terrible. That's too edgy for my taste, because not everything has to be miserable. The key to an engaging media is to balance good and bad things. If everything was colors and sunshine there are no stakes, yes, but if everything is dark and depressing you have nothing to hope or root for.

"Normal" families, with crazy secrets.
People need to realize. What makes a show good first and foremost is the characters. Everything else comes second. Sure, action can look amazing, and the world building can be amazing, but the characters are the glue that holds it together. And that’s what Spy X Family does really well. Not only are there amazing characters with amazing personalities, but they all have amazing interactions with one another that make the show shine so much!
True. If the characters weren’t so likable then it wouldn’t matter what happens to them or the action they are involved in because we don’t care. It’s like shaking a shiny pair of keys in front of us.
I think it's fine and even quality for what it is, I have just never enjoyed slice of life movies or series, so I didn't keep watching it.
What I don't like is how it has every cliche in the book, as slices of life do, and everyone's thrilled, but if there is even one cliche in an action series its a screaming contest for the rest of eternity. If anything your comment is the nagging one that keeping you from enjoying your own shows and just degrading the shows that I'm praising. lmao.
I like spy x fam but it's undeniable that the plot had a lot of potential to be more action packed. I dont mind that it's slice of life but I wish they didnt get wildly sidetracked so often. Sometimes, I watch it and straight up just dont remember what they're all here for. Slice of life gets screwed over when you milk it of all its worth and overdo it to the point it loses its charm, which spy x family should be able to avoid since it actually has an underlying plot (civil war, loid's mission, anya's stella stars) and a vague direction (they're probably all going to find out about each other's secrets). But it seems like it's going to get really long. In my opinion, it would've been better for the manga to have more fun little things, and for the anime to be more condensed instead of just copying the manga, even having split episodes to contain mini arcs...
@@conorgillingham2564 cool, since you never said anything about action shows in your statement I very clearly wasn't talking about you. Second, how does this tie to misogyny in any way? If they're talking about what they'd do to Anya, I'm assuming it's from a parent's perspective, not a violent male's. Do you honestly think they'd say something else if Anya was male? I hate it when people try to tie things to inequality and claim some people feed into the inequality by oppressing.
Exactly. A huge turn off in anime for a lot of women (and some people in general) is when an anime is intensely misogynistic and derives a lot of its “humor” from male characters sexually harassing the women and girls in the cast, and I absolutely think one of the reasons Spy X Family has the numbers it does is because the female characters are treated decently and therefore it doesn’t lose a huge portion of its audience. That’s also one of the reasons why Fullmetal Alchemist is so positively regarded. Both of these series have a ton of other good things going for them that make them great, but what sets them apart from a lot of other series that have good things going for them is that they don’t lose a huge chunk of their audience by disrespecting them in their material.

@@10ReasonsWhyLet's hope they NEVER interact with children tbh lmao
The antagonist is barely even drawn as an actual character yet, for me, the actual antagonist was the presence of war, it’s an antagonistic force, cause basi e the so called “antagonist” is just a suspected politician and he probably is a hero in the Ostanian side of people. Even as an die hard shonen fan, I would say the antagonist is bland (for the mean time) if we’re going to apply you classmate’s logic, Zoe basically they don’t even know how to criticize and judge good villain, but they’re out there saying Anya is doing things for no reason?!? biggest shounen fan vs. average slice of life enjoyer
I mean I dropped the anime after episode 6 because I realized that romance is going to be a big part of this series (Which should've been obvious from the start)
But I still promoted this anime to the best of my abilities because I know how good it is. Sometimes, just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's automatically trash and people need to understand this more.
nah ive read the whole manga and romance doesnt even matter dw
@@scaramouche7210 I know it doesn't, it's a family friendly show after all but I can't stand romance more than 5% and this show has 50% so it's just not for me haha
Nah the anime didn't really showed the romance powder for the whole season ,probably only 6-8 eps then the rest is either about the plot or Anya messing around
@@lucyheartfilia2015 its not 50% literally the only romance there is is fandom shipping the characters, i can tell you that at least for now no one even ended up with no one and its not even close to that and it wont change for a long time
I used to be one of those people that were delved deep into dark, action packed animes. But now that I’m older I just kind of stopped watching those shows, and now I actually appreciate shows like spy x family more. It helped me cope with the things going on in my life
Spy x Family is more than just slice of life. They constantly bring up issues like abandonment, death, hunger, war, misinformation, cult following, morality, etc
Spy family almost has every genre. Romance, slice of life, comedy, action and fantasy
This is one of my favourite anime.❤ I have watched it so many times. But everytime Spy family never fails to entertain.
I'm a sucker for found family trope, cuteness, wholesomeness, badass characters and spy stories so this manga was made for me.
As a history fan I also enjoy seeing how Cold War Germany inspired Tatsuya Endo and how he depicted nationalism and hatred in some chapters, the damages caused by war...
Also I appreciate the fact it doesn't have fan service compared to a lot of other shonens so it's an anime I can watch with my family without worrying about ecchi.
the dynamic between the main characters, especially since they’re technically not a real family, socially stunted, and have really no idea how to interact with each other is hilarious and very relatable. also, i love the mystery behind anya, and the little bits of lore that endo sneaks into the story. finally, the suspense of knowing that the characters will find out eventually, just waiting to see how
It's the slice of life that is attainable and relatable. It's the non-idealised reality of life. It shines a glimmer of hope to people who seek a getaway from the circadian problems in life, and shows what you should strive towards.
"family is a universal language"

I love this comment
I actually agree with the person. not trying to hate on the show or whoever made it but I feel like there's a lot of wasted potential and that there could be some better writing for the characters they do feel a little empty to me I'm not worried about the action I love slice of Life but the characters don't really feel all that interesting other than anya she's the best 🥰🤔 all I'm saying is I wish there was a little more character development in the plot was a little stronger of course I've only seen the anime so if there's any other material out there that I don't know about I'd love to see it but all-in-all from what I've seen it's not for me
how could anyone not like this show?
Because only CSM type anime is considered Shounen nowadays 🤦🏽♂️
And they are huge sucks. 😂
Yes, this anime is one of the few anime my mum actually enjoys and anticipate to watch with me
It's fun watching spyxfamily even if your own family isn't as happy as them lol
I do like spy × family a lot! While I prefer more action animes, but I also love those slice of life animes that touch your heart. The good part is that spy x family has both fluffy moments and has it's own action moments.
Did anyone notice and remember where the background music is from ?
(Toilet bound hanako kun)
I noticed that too 🙃
My step-dad has never watched an anime before and my mom has only seen a few. Both still enjoy watching Spy x Family when I show it to them.
The only anime that i can watch without feeling empty after watching them, like seriously after i watch this anime i just feel alot better then i have because the only emotion it brings me so far is nothing but a positive emotion
I mainly don't give any anime a chance. I've recently got into Demon Slayer but that's the most of it ever since Death Note I watched long ago. What ruins anime for me is when people base it on their entire personality. It makes them seem unoriginal, and boring, and really discourages me from learning more on any anime. Many people ruin the show or spoil it, or genuinely make it cringe to a point it's unbearable. If you like anime that's okay, but don't show it as the only thing you like, personality way especially.
Haha I dont understand those people either. Like I like anime because it has the kind of content that's hard to find elsewhere. But some like anime because it's anime like. Like even a low quality anime they would say they like it
I saw some girl who enjoyed anime trying to be funny of how someone asks 'Oh, I finally saw this anime, it's the one with (bland hair color and trait), then she'd say: *Thinks of 1000+ animes-* And say some until she finally got it right. It's not funny. To me it just screams 'I only know anime and can't relate to anything else'.
It’s a good anime but gets bother me is how slow of a burn it is. The stuff with the loids mission with the stars and getting Anya close to Damian and stuff if at a good pace, but everything else feels too slow.
Loid has yet to even acknowledge his own feeling for his family. He’ll have moments every now and then where he genuinely cares for Anya and he knows it but 99% of the time he’s just saying “for the mission”
Yor I feel like reverts immediately after some character growth happens. Loid has given her at least 6 heart to heart conversations, telling her that she’s doing better than he ever could for Anya and thinks she’s a good mother and husband. She’ll carry herself higher for the rest of the chapter but, a couple chapters later, will go right back into this “I’m ugly. I’m a bad mother. Loid probably hates me” attitude. I know that change takes time and we have in fact seen her grow more confident when it comes to the motherly side of things, but she’s still pretty much at square one.
Actually i did never liked action anime but this anime is just so amazing that u can see every genre in this anime, even people like me who doesn't like action got to watch this, this anime is so fascinating.💖
The right reasons to hate it:
Exactly there are none
I feel like people have a problem admiting that sometimes they are the problem, and I am not saying it in a bad way. Sometimes a piece of media isnt your piece of cake and that is totally valid, but some people get mad over a media being popular just because they dont enjoy it. For example, I cant tell I wont enjoy Chainsaw Man, so I dont plan on watching it, but it doesnt give me te right to say it sucks or it doesnt deserve the praise it gets.
Bro i didnt even know there was hate on that masterpiece
i was surprised myself tbh
There are huge tons during whole season 1. Even on Instagram.
I mean there was that one part in that one episode with Yori in the locker room that’s not that friendly to young audiences
I went to finally start watching this show to see what all the fuss was about. I was originally gonna watch it alone but my daughter saw Anya in the first episode and she was hooked. It became a bonding experience for us. Now she already has her Halloween costume picked out.
YES! me and my mom watch it together and we actually want to cosplay yor and anya together
Aw that’s so sweet 😭
How can people nowadays give so hate towards without any reason.how can they hate spy x family .this is the most sweet and slice of life anime show ever.i remember the first time people start offended for Anya and loid relationship.they start taking shit .this show how people becoming so mental and crazy day by day
You sounded so emotional at the family part sorry it kinda sounds weird but it’s wholesome
I’m gonna get a thousand cups of shame and cover the person who said they don’t like spy x family
I was really hoping it was gonna be less happy-go-lucky slice of life and more of an drama. I'm invested in the whole war plot but it's just annoying how watered down it gets by everything else
I really like the mundane normal episodes more than the full of action ones, i love spy x family because it's an anime i watch to genuinely have fun and chill
OH THANK YOU FOR THIS EXPLANATION SENPAI!!! My friend has been hating the second part of spy family cause it wasn't like the first. I tried my best to explain it to him but he wasn't having none of it (expected cause he's been watching anime for far longer than I have). Hopefully he can understand a little better after I show him this.
Lemme guess people who hates this because their family hates them?
since it’s a show about family
Lololol
I mean they're missing a father figure anyways so prob why
And the fans of the anime are missing a brain
@@lol_4439 ew roblox kid ☠️
@@lol_4439 And you're missing a family so they're even with you
Honestly, the only thing I hate about this show is the insect brother. That's about it, everything else is very good, not for everyone but not something that should be hated for.
I guess the brother is not incest, it's more like he lack on how to show affection because since child, the only person who take care of him is Yor(his sister),(just my opinion though)
yeah i got you it can be seen like that but the thing is his brother said "do you have a bf i can make you meet someone" or "you have to get married" etc multiple times so actually he doesn't romantically loves her yk.He was literally an orphan at the age of 6-7. He attached to someone who always been protected him. You can even see when loid tells him he's gonna protect them both from now on,he even blushes and makes a shock face. It's not about just his sister, it's the feeling
I haven't started watching it yet. I've just seen various clips on RUclips. I think Anya is adorable based off what I have seen so far. Something with "Spy" in it's name makes me think action cartoon, just because stuff about spies is usually pretty action heavy. I guess I'll find out when I sit down and start watching episodes.
As someone who loved the first season but who's love has unfortunately lessened in the following season, i can say with conviction that my problem with spy family isn't the fact that it's slice of life (i love slice of life) but that it's quickly gotten stale in the 2nd season.
From my perspective, none of the characters are growing closer, none of the relationships have passed beyond the initial interesting set up. And there hasn't particularly been any satisfying knock downs since that amazing set up.
All of loids spy shenanigans feel like they have no consequence and distract from the plot. Anya's progress in school and with Damien is utterly nonexistent. I'd argue she hasn't grown as a character whatsoever.
Yor hasnt even been in many episodes short of the beginning of season 2. And when we finally get a date episode with loud and yor, (one ive been begging for since the start of the show) it's played for laughs and hijinks and loid and yor don't grow or get closer even slightly after the fact.
I feel like the show has an insistance on introducing more new characters, rather than actually support the great cast they have already. I hate bond, i found fiona annoying, i just want SOMETHING TO HAPPEN IN THIS SHOW.
I don't want the actual problems with spy family to be glossed over because many of the same complaints i genuinely have with the pacing are the same complaints that shounen fans have with the show.
My favorite 3 anime are slice of life, and all 3 of them (as well as many other sol shows) have had at least a LITTLE character growth and story development after as much time in spy family has passed.
Is loid any closer to completing his mission?
Is yor any closer to finding her place in a world she feels isolated from?
Are either of them any closer to discovering their identities, what impact will that have on their family dynamic?
Will anya receive all the stellas?
Will she and Damian ever get closer?
Will Damian ever break down the familial barrier with his father and brother?
ARE WE ANY CLOSER TO ANSWERING ANY OF THESE QUESTIONS SINCE THEY WERE FIRST INTRODUCED IN THE ANIME?
I've read the manga and the answer to almost all your questions is YES.
Probably in season 4 we'll see the most character progression. For now you'll need to hang in there.
I haven’t watched the anime yet.I'm too busy to watch. The anime looks good but I'm into creepy and action genre more. So planning to finish CSM soon. Then probably some day I'll give this a chance.
I dislike it because I don’t find it funny and every time I say that there’s always someone who tells me I have no sense of humor. It gets annoying as fuck after a while. Comedy is subjective, just because someone thinks something is funny doesn’t mean others will.
Well said
Orphans after hearing that family is a universal language: 👁👄👁
I've seen hundreds titles of anime but I always have a hard time thinking what title is best suit for a family watchalong. That is until spy x family came and I'll always answer spy x family as an anime you can watch with your family and friends but not being weird about it
I do realised after the bond part, it gets a little slow pasted and more towards slice of life turns out it is lol
