- Vivica Genaux as Marc' Antonio and Isabel Bayrakdarian as Cleopatra sing "Bella etade avventurosa", final duet of Marc Antonio e Cleopatra, serenata from Hasse.
Concerto Köln, René Jacobs.
Paris, Théâtre des Champs Elysées, 2001. Видеоклипы
Extraordinaire... Le génie d'un géant de la musique trop méconnu, merveilleusement servi par des voix exceptionnelles...
Extraordinarily beautiful singing - what virtuosity! Great admiration for both singers
Fabulous...and it was live too!
Congratulations to both singers!
soooooo lovely
Great singers, nice melody! So this is the famous piece where Farinelli sang Cleopatra and Vittoria Tesi the male role. Hasse seems to be for some reason non-existant on today's Baroque Opera stage (the only Hasse I heard of the last few years was Cleofide in Dresden). Don't know the rest of this piece, but if it was written for Farinelli/Tesi, I can't imagine it's boring.
Thx for posting, Vivica and Jacobs are always a delight! The other singer as well, yet have never heard of her.
Very nice.
Like so many other areas music's greatest era was the baroque. Musicians to be considered competent had to be able to improvise within the composer's work. Creativity, improvisation, and innovation is necessary to continue the evolution of any area of endeavor. Authoritarian rule stifles any area of endeavor.
(again me:)
This is SO powerful in any sense!
I saw a docu on youtube about this serenata, 5 parts in Italian language incl. the finale

As I said, I don't understand that Hasse, "the other" Caro Sassone is so neglected on nowadays' opera schedules.
I need lyrics this aria, please !!!
CLEOPATRA, MARC’ANTONIO
Bella etade avventurosa
godi sì ch’andrai fastosa
di tua gran felicità.
Perché ignude d’ogni zelo
scenderan per te dal cielo
la giustizia e la pietà.
LOL, "violins4u"--what a cute name. Are you a Pisces by chance?
I'm not a musician, and, to be honest, mostly listen to heavy music, or "metal," but am moved by many classical pieces, including some of Ms. Bayrakdarian's recordings.
