    toll, diesen Auftritt zu sehen. Ich habe Chris Barber und seine Jungs oft an der Möhne im Jazzkeller erleben dürfen. Tut schon ein bißchen weh, den Meister altern zu sehen. Danke für die tollen Momente, Chris!!

    I first saw Chris and his band some 60+ years ago in Battersea Park and became a fan.
    Have never seen any reason to change my loyalty. Some absolutely great musicians have been associated with the band including the one and only Ottilie Patterson, Lonnie Donegan, Pat Halcox, Monty Sunshine, Ron Bowden et al.

    Dixie-Hit? New Orleans Hit, Sidney Bechet 1923!

    • @ABrandsma
      @ABrandsma 10 лет назад +1

      The Clarence Williams version with Bechet was not really a hit. The Monty Sunshine version with Chris Barber on bass was a multi million seller, since it was on the same record as Petite Fleur.

    Great band, but this composition is packed with chord changes / harmony. I consider it way to much for a blues song!

    • @DresdenDixieland
      @DresdenDixieland  2 месяца назад +1

      It is harmony and formwise a Ragtime. They called it a blues way back in 1923, since blues was immensely popular at the time. For a short period, they just called everything blues. Another example is the Jazz Me Blues. Nice tune, but hardly blues related.
