"One of Hammer's better films, not only of that particular decade, but from their entire catalogue" - The Telltale Mind
In Victorian London, young Dr. Jekyll attempts to create an "Elixir of Life" using female hormones stolen from the glands of fresh corpses. But when Jekyll drinks the experimental potion himself, he is transformed into a beautiful woman with an unstoppable taste for mayhem. Can both fiendish personalities share a rampage of ghastly murder and perverse desire, or will the ultimate battle of the sexes rage within?
Ralph Bates (Horror Of Frankenstein, Lust For A Vampire) and Martine Beswick (One Million Years B.C.) star in this gender-bending twist on the classic tale that horror fans consider one of the most provocative shockers in Hammer history.

One of the best Hammer films. I watched it again last night, and it is still superb. Martine Beswick is mesmerizing.
Great twist on this old story and highly original for the time when it came out!!! Ralph as always is brilliant, such a shame he died so young. 🌹
The way they tie it in with White Chapel is especially nice.
We saw this at the drive-in the weekend it came out. It was on a twin bill with a movie called “Fright”. Bates and Beswick DO look like they could be twins!
Sister Hyde would be a great band name
Yeah !!!!!!!
Martine Beswick was so beautiful. I mainly watch this movie just to look at her.
I expect many crushes on her developed after young boys saw this movie.
Martine Beswick was so beautiful, and I love it at 1:29 when she turns around when the voice over says "Sister Hyde" my god was she beautiful!
Other than some small films & cameos in Van Helsing & The Mummy, I don't think there's been much attention for another theatrical Jekyll and Hyde adaptation since this film. Someone needs to revive this classic story.
There's Mary Reilly (1996), a pretty good film.
He was in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003). I didn't care for it, but whatever. They made him more like the Hulk than anything.
There was a whole BBC series made. James Nesbit is fantastic, compelling viewing.

@@Simbabbad I hate to say I don't know much about that film other than it's Stephen King. I'm assuming it's a schizo tale?
@@jefferykeown8834 oh yeah that's right. He was in that. What I mean though is for a major theatrical adaptation of the original story. That's something we need to see.
Of course this is a Hammer movie.
'Trans' isn't just for Transylvania anymore... Neat movie!
I saw this on Teevee, it was pretty good!
The original Hammer Film title is called: "Dr. Jekal and Miss Hyde".
I suppose this flick would be particularly timely THESE days, huh ?!
How so?
I think he meant the whole concept of a person having a duel personality that is both male and female would make this movie more relevant today given the modern trans/LGBT movement going on
@@griffinnunnelee72361.) Trans people have always existed,
2.) This is a peculiar case that doesn't fit well with real queer people. Gender-fluid or bigender, _maybe,_ but such folk still don't shift in body.
real problem waking up the next morning thinking you had a wild night with some girl
S'long as they're still a woman when it counts, or if you're bi, where's the problem?
I've watched this movie last year in October/Halloween it was pretty good....extremely something whose idea to make this movie
Edgar and Quentin brought me here...
me too!!
Wait doctor jekyll is evil and sister hyde is evil too that doesn't make any sense
In the original novel, Jekyll used his time as Hyde to do all the wicked things he couldn't do as himself. It's only semi-recently that movies played up Jekyll = good, Hyde = evil.
@@cqmorrellexactly. The whole point of the original story is that they're both evil. He only used Hyde as an excuse.
They could do this movie now using the same person.
Recently re - released as Dr Jekyll And Non - Binary Hyde.
Today they would use one actor only to portray both sexes.
Debatable. Hard to say.
Guy looks like Steve Perry...
English actresses like Martine Beswick, Susan George, and Elizabeth Hurley just ooze with sex. God has truly blessed them.🥰👍
I was watching this on the late night Friday chiller last night. If he invented this formula today he would be a rich man. All kinds of LBTQ people would be lining up to get it. Lol
I LOL'd
DECADES ahead of its time.
More topical in 2023 than 1971.
Real trans/fluid people are not inherently killers. They still have more to worry about from cis people than the other way around. And this guy was a killer to begin with, so...don't go wholly blaming his newfound persona on all the murdering.
@@christopherb501looool give ya head a wobble you silly rabbit 🐰 now go and stick the kettle on sweet cheeks, That's why we cannot have nice things
Yeah I've worser girls then that in movies, shows, and sometimes in real life
Honestly I thought this was the most stupid version and the least threatening version of Hyde
As opposed to the one from the LXG movie?
Hyde was never meant to be threatening. Only unlikeable and ugly in some unseen way
They should remake it for today's PC transgender era!
Nope
Hammer have it comes this October
@@007beck9 True
Honestly a remake would certainly be interesting, but heck if I know if it would be handled well.
Also: "PC"? Get with the times, girlfriend; _that_ reductive buzzword went out of style two administrations ago.
Will Smith got him a woman and he became a changed man...for the worse 🤣😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's Marika/Radagon.
