Wow just realised how many of these I used to go in. A Friday or Saturday night out - start in the Newcastle for a game of pool, then the Flying Horse, the QE, the Dog and Bear and the Fountain. All gone, so sad.
And now you’ve got me thinking about lost nightclubs...
Great vid. My dad used to take me in The Jester in Sneinton, pint of lager and lime and a bag of salt your own crisps. I was 12 at the time, drinking pints...lol.
I had my wedding reception at The Flying Horse, in 1980. The Fiveways is now a Muslim community centre!
That has happened to quite a few former pubs sadly.
I remember as a 17 year-old visiting the Clinton Arms in 1972 (the attraction was topless barmaids!) and the abiding memory was being asked in the toilets by a wizzened old boy, almost certainly a WW1 veteran ' What you pissing - mild or bitter?' Ahhh, memories!
The Peggers has been reopened as the original 1833 fox and grapes yesterday evening!
You have got it wrong it was built in 1905/6 its called pretty windows because of the stainglass it's other nickname was the clinic because that's where they went for their medicine
music in the Hearty Goodfellow . Bands like Medium Medium. Clubs like the Sandpiper
Miss the cocked hat💪💪🏴
You miss it wow it was ok it the 90s 2000s Broxtowe lot turned it in to shit hole
@@leelaird1544 Shit management. Even worse with the creation of the ghetto built on it.
John Barleycorn, Broxtowe Lane, Aspley??..... Star Inn, Nottingham Road, Basford?.... Also had the Skillet and Sixpence on Nottingham Road? at the bottom near Perry Road..... Anyone remember the old 'Do it all' (Focus) that use to be on the corner of Perry Road/Nottingham Road?
Vernon Arms, Waverley Street near the Goose Fair (now Sainsbury's Local).
Shame, The Garden Gate, at the heart of St Anns, is not featured!😢
This is a really interesting video and shows how the trend in social drinking has changed dramatically. Some of these buildings have hopefully been saved and converted for other uses while others needed demolishing and replacing with something more modern.
JOHN HEALY The Jester is a mosque now!
@@DrKarnivore and?
@@hassankhan4066 statement of fact?
@@hassankhan4066 we don't want that
The attrition would not have been anywhere as bad if the multinationals hadn't destroyed the four local breweries.
Bugger all to do with that. The best thing that ever happened to beer in Nottingham was getting rid of piss like Shippo's, Kimbo & Home. Quality & choice have never been better. The largest brewery in Notts is now Castle rock.
@@chrisharris4740 yes but they employed notts people and you my friend sound like a blow in
Been in all, bar the Grey Mare. Frightening really.
Great job! Keep going on notts ❤
no mention of the Roebuck later to become Old Moore's Tavern. Most interesting pub in town
no2 in the video looks very familiar was that called the carlton by any chance bck in 2005 cause if it was i used to run it
That many pubs we had to have half pints, now,, you would die of thirst before reaching the next one?
the Cocked Hat looked like that when it was open.
Bad pub as well
Flying hoss,fountain,Q.E.bodiga,Thurland, George Hotel,,,agood bat round on a Friday
Was'nt the Dunkirk one called "The Social"?
oh this made me cry a little bit
That's what I call a pub crawl!
Whatever happened to Yates's Wine Lodge. ?? I left Nottingham many years ago.
Became the slug and lettuce
What about the Royal George at canning circus is that close down as well? it’s been over well 25 years since I left Nottingham.
Knocked down and student flats now. No pubs left on Ilkeston road. Apart from sir John borlasse Warren at the top.
@@leehogg6248 ...thank you for letting me know, I moved out of Nottingham a number of years ago
Was busy reading the comments. Was the masons arms in Bradford there ? Loved that little pub with the piano....felt like a time warp when you went in .great
Idk about Bradford but there was a pub called the Mason Arms in Bulwell between Commercial road and Coventry Road.
@@thememelord6480 yes basford. Didn't notice it change to Bradford lol. Masons arms was near horse and jockey
It was on Lincoln st
@@leehogg6248 true (I was referring to a different one in all fairness)
@@thememelord6480 I think you're thinking of the bull on the mini roundabout.
The grey mare Clifton ❤
I'm an out-of-towner, but anyone remember that one near the old Royal Mail Admin. or sorting office - not too far from Broad St or Parliament Street? Closed back in the 2000s.
The Britannia? Used to be a Berni years ago.
Pubs & football two things that made Britain the pub sector is on its arse & the efl determined to destroy football not a lot left in Britain after that
That music is a classical style version of a James song 'All I'm Saying'
The Dunkirk inn. Had many a happy day getting pissed ,when I was supposed to be working at foundry it was called the rubber duck at one time...I think....
Yes, it was briefly rebranded as the Rubber Duck in a failed attempt to attract the student market. Now demolished & turned into flats.
@@chrisharris4740 typical. Not been there since 96. Shame that. Thanks for the update.
I worked at The Fox
What about the Man O Trent at Clifton😢
A night out was never the same after they shut the Flying Horse.
the canal tavern was that the bowling green?
Also called the narrow boat
The old rose 👌👌👌👌👌 plenty of lock in’s
Lived in the moulders arms when I was about 6 we had to give it up becuase my mum couldn't handle the hours now it's a Muslim centre
A good video. Shame you couldn't label them all.. thanks anyway.
Yeah, it sucks that you can't do that anymore
Tesco’s?
Sad days bring back the pubs . the good old days
Well'l i said goodbye to the bad old days of drinking that poison alcohol some years ago feel a lot better for it.
To many druggy drunken yobs causing trouble did that
Why no picture of the Dolphin, North Church Street? Great shame...!
Probably because the entire content of this has been lifted from www.nottinghampost.com/whats-on/food-drink/gallery/30-nottingham-pubs-closed-last-195286 and they didn't include the Dolphin......
What a shame
Soon all pubs will be mosques
