    I love it when reviewers pick out a certain convention or technical aspect of a film and explore its thematic or symbolic meaning. It's definitely interesting, and is often something that I didn't notice while watching the film but afterward am now like "Oh, now I see it." Definitely an eye-opening video. Good work

    Ah, you said it perfectly. Ever since I watched the movie and stepped outside of the cinema, I have always thought of that 'separation' message Shinkai wanted to convey. All the angle shots really helped to amplify the themes he wanted the watchers to experience. Truly a masterpiece.
    Thanks for the analysis, I'll keep my eye on your channel for new contents. :)

    Thank you so much for this video. Never really thought hard about the low angle shots in particular but now I realise that they are one of the reasons the movie was so connecting.

    Omg that's what I was searching for! Technical analysis of this movie, or parts of it. This movie is just so fascinating to me, and for some reason it really hard for me to see it objectively. No matter how many times I see it.
    So props to this video, like a breath of fresh air in all that sea of theories.

    I really like your name too!
    Although I wonder why it "surprised" you.
    Tons of anime have done stuff like this before.
    Although that just goes to show how special this movie is!

    • @NerdyShenanigans
      @NerdyShenanigans  7 лет назад +5

      timemadscientist Greatscot! Thanks for checking out my analysis! Also, fair enough as to why it surprised me. Makoto Shinkai is brilliant with a great run, broke box office numbers, and the anime is ranked #1 on my anime list. My question when I went in, does it deserve the praise? And my response. Most definitely. :).

    • @actualmadscientist
      @actualmadscientist 7 лет назад +1

      Nerdy Shenanigans Most definitely it does!
      One thing that surprised me is I never expected
      anything to become higher ranked than Fullmetal Alchemist.
      Although what got me into it is I just really like body switch
      stories, hence why I recommend Yamada-kun and 7 witches.

    Hey man, saw your comment on my video again recently and remembered to check out your channel--really like this video! I was wondering if you use After Effects as well for the transitions and finishing touches on your video? My Ghibli video was my first jump into using After Effects to enhance presentation and I was wondering if you had any tips on how to get better. If you ever wanna talk video production, or just anime in general, feel free to DM me on RUclips or Twitter (just followed you), and again great job! :)

    • @NerdyShenanigans
      @NerdyShenanigans  7 лет назад +1

      Hey there! I do use After Effects to create some of the titles and animations for all my videos. I'm glad you dipped your feet in it for the Ghibli video, so I know damn well how much work it can be to put in the effects.
      I would be down for a collaboration or to just talk about anything in general!
