I have been an arborist since the 1980s. This is a pretty good video. I agree about pruning most times during the year. The important thing is to make PROPER CUTS, which leave no stubs. My list of things to look for and remove: Dead & Dying branches; Diseased branches; Rubbing branches; Branches growing INTO the tree crown; Branches that are growing DOWN. When that's done you can thin things out to encourage sunlight and air circulation. Also, try putting a tarp on the ground and throw the branches on it as you cut. Then most of your clean-up work is done. Just gather the corners of the tarp when you are finished, and take the cut branches to disposal.
