Hi GF. You mentioned the faux patina on all 3. I was wondering if you found the same faux patina on other pieces from another shop? I was speaking to Infinity Wars and he got his blue piece but his doesn’t have the faux patina.
Blue is awesome too but the main reason for me picking up the green is that I've never owned a green dial watch. Also blue might be too mainstream (boring) as there are a lot of new blue dial watches lately 😅
GF Watch thanks for the thoughts, yes I get that with blue being more mainstream. Shame they don’t all come on a bracelet. I’ve not got a green or blue dial watch so just need to decide 😁 I think the green will be most popular as it’s more similar to the green Alpinist people know. Plus the bracelet.
@@kevink81 A few years ago when I got my SARB017 for my 40th birthdayfor my 40th birthday, all reviewers, without exception, mentioned those specifically in their rave reviews. Now they ALL have collectively forgotten about these (can you name ONE who has 'noticed'? I can't) and have all basically become different level Seiko-apologists for the watered-down newer versions. It will always be my first mechanical watch, now one of many. Still: a good start, i still think. At least it was not an SKX:)
The new alpinist with rotating compass has applied indices, sapphire crystal, better movement and dial options.. also the original alpinist didn’t have the compass. So original is only original to those who don’t know the history. Original would be no compass integrated into the dial. If anything the ones shown here are back to the true alpinist roots.
To be very honest with you, I am very unhappy with the bracelets, I must put one link in summer and pull one out after summer, how can Seiko downgrade their own brilliant bracelets from a decade ago. And it had a good metal alloy didn't really disturb me when my wrist got wet. It's a huge no no. However this new sophisticated movement and the lume on the hands are great. Please do the full review of this watch, thank you.
Yes. I was a little disappointed with the lack of micro adjustment on the clasp. I had the same issue with the SARB035. I will be doing a full review for sure. Stay tuned.
It's marketing. They run for that long, but the last 15-20 hours they will run increasingly fast, up to well over a minute fast per day. Just basic watchmaking physiscs (it's actually complicated but true) Makes no difference in their practicality compared to 6R15, but the increase in price just isn't there in value. Not like Seiko is giving us an option, so live with it:)
You do know seiko started the alpinist without a compass bezel, and as the name was created by them it’s clearly not stealing. Presumably you don’t know who Seiko are or anything about the alpinist. Google is your friend.
It's all due to demand and supply. For years, people have been asking for better movement, better crystal, better bracelet from Seiko. Now that Seiko is giving us all that, price increase is to be expected. 70 hours movement, sapphire crystal with AR coating, solid end links, 20bar WR. I don't necessary think it's a bad deal.
GF Watch I agree, for everything you get this is a great deal (for seiko) and let’s not forget how some micro brands price their watches. Or how much a Rolex or higher tier watches will cost you. And @john hewer ... The steal a name comment is ridiculous. You clearly don’t know what you’re taking about.
I love this new Alpinists looks much better imo
Just picked the blue one up from Fah Shing! Such good customer and friendly service from Fah Shing.
I picked the same one. It really is a gorgeous dial. I’m loving mine.
Awesome. I chose the blue to add to my earlier green. The grey is very nice too.
Looking forward to the full review. Ready to pull the trigger on this and very few hands-on honest reviews out there 🧐
Lovely looking piece. Wish the indices were applied rather than printed.
What are the dimensions and price?
38mm.
RRP MYR3060 for SPB155

From pictures and other reviews I've seen online, all come with custard coloured indexes.
The day Is invisibile, this Is a good thing
Entertaining video, I'm trying to decide between the blue and green. How did you like the blue in person?

@@wristwatchtalk You can order the bracelet separately if you buy the blue
@@GFWatch yes, it's quite expensive though. $200 from gnomon 😑
*_It looks like an improved Rolex Explorer. Better looking!_*
Haha. They are field watches so the similarities to a Rolex Explorer.
Woh, in-store review. Look absolutely beautiful!
Would have prefered solid dial color.that faded color makes it look cheap....which it is not at 700$
do you have a wrist shot of the three seiko baby alpinist?
I'll be doing a wrist shot in the upcoming full review video. In the meantime, check out my Instagram @gfw_watch for the wrist shot
They could avoid the unreadable day complication
Not Baby, but Field Alpinist.
These watches, and the new 'real' Alpinists, all just make me appreciate my SARB017 more. Last of the pre-prospexes...
True. Old one was better. Especially applied indices.

They are cutting corners in every possible way and increasing the prices at the same time.
And they need to stop with the 'limited edition' stuff.

Background look very familiar for me.😁

Too glossy. Give me a satin version
3.42: solid endlinks? No, those are not solid endlinks
Great watch. Hope they do a men’s size……
Sam Watkins: *_This is NOT a men's size? Don't tell Rolex! They sell boatloads of 36mm DateJust models, and most are not worn by women._*
Getting more and more expensive.....
Seiko business model, "give less for more" and "steal a name".
