- We use the Traxxas Spartan to show you some things you need to do to keep your RC boat running smooth. Somewhat of a afterrun procedure but not necessary each and every time. Lubricate your drive shaft and your drive shaft strut. This procedure would however apply to most all RC boats.
You need to lube both sides of the motor even though it is water proof as well. This will keep your electric RC boat running smooth. First Make Sure You Subscribe To Our Channel Here-Its Free

this video is useful even after 10 yrs. thanks for posting
Hey I don't know if you know this but you made this tutorial harder than it should be. The shaft just slides out of the back of the boat and Id bet if you left the power module in you would still be able to lube the motor to. And I also don't know if grease came with the boat but you're supposed to use the marine grease and not oil (from what I understand)
Would I be able to use marine grease instead of oil to lubricate it?
@MultiCunt666 I just bought a Spartan today, after running I cleaned and lubed everything and realized the blocks where going to be a PITA! Took me about 30 seconds to figure out a solution. Before trying to put anything back in start the crews on the blocks. Theres enough play that it all snaps together very easily like this.
nice vid, I have one and I 'am worried because never used lipos yet.So when I do warranty may be done..
Why do you remove the power module - you need simply loosen the collet to slide the flex shaft out............
Nicely done!
Oh my, put the blocks on a couple of screw turns before refitting gear tray, strip and relube after every run imo
7 years later and just helped me out. Thanks!!!
Hi rc nightmare in this video what is the type of foam tape you are using ?
i am new to rc boats and i was wondering where i could get a 5mm drive shaft for my turnigy motor and a drive strut thanks
@d3lap yea the spartan is super fun!
Thanks, very informative!
@Noxiousxx thanks so much for watching!
Great vid !!!!
Can't you just use some of that marine grease to lubricate it? Because that's what I do. Please respond! :vD
ok nice vid..but im building a rc but i dont know how to connect the drive shaft to the weed eater engine help plzz???
@shadow122788 damn that sucks, heard a lot of people had to, we never had an issue luckily.
@3brosRCSam you are very welcome
Put ur module in first then the prop. I use marine grease for everything apart from motor lube
nice vid man
hi i was just wundrin what the differance was between deans and traxxas please answer
Hello.. how did you put in the blocks again?
i got a spartain and i love it
@770buddy1 the white tube? thats my question to :d
@daddydcustoms hey thanks alot! We love it!
deans get the power and voltage throu better i highly suggest dean plugs.
@tytogononttt lol don't forget to waterproof that shaft!
I am having trouble putting the power mudule in can you help?
What size battery the most I can us
I prefer to use greese for my flex shaft it's better lubricant then oil
Why are you telling people to go through all of that. MrPinkRacer has a very good simple video of the proper way of doing it without all of pulling the whole unit out. People might strip the screws in the plastic and really have trouble. If someone who has some experience wants to do it the end of the season once maybe I can see it. I do enjoy your videos but just thought this one was a little over board. My Spartan has not had any overheating issues and I just bought a lazar gun to see what it's running at. What temp do you think it should run at???? I did watch your video on the double rudder and don't think I need to do it at this point. If I get some leaking from the rubber cooler on the motor I'll just buy that aluminum skirt for the cooling upgrade. One problem I'm having is with the charger that they give you with the battery package now. It's grinding and sounds like the blade might be hitting on the side. Hope I don't brake off a cooling fin from the fan. I hit the charger hard on the side a few times and the noise stops. Thanks, Craig
I prefer to put more greese on the shaft then that so it's nice and wet
thank you!!!
My Spartan i bought in 2014 has flex shaft grease in a tube like tooth paste so should i use that instead of the Traxxas 30w oil?
+zozo1899 Yes the grease if you put it in the back of the shaft heavy will also cut back on some of the water that comes in from it. MrPinkRacer had a good video to show you how much grease to use. Craig
Yeh the greese would be better for you can use the oil to lubricate the bearings
why dont yo use pro boat marine grease and grease gun
@770buddy1 and can you use it ?
My Traxxas spartan Will only go like five or 10 mph in the water And not do a rooster on the back of the boat with water please please help
Might be your battrie packs are no good
Try some new ones
@@dalegunning7378 I just bought them last month six of them worth over $200 for batteries they’re all brand new I am recalibrated the ESC multiple times I grease the shaft as needed and a grease the motor with DW 40 almost after every run on the water and see I went to the lake and it was ripping just fine on the water 50+ and I take it in the backyard in the pond and I give it for throttle and go slow there’s oil in that pond I don’t know if that could be slowing it down because the oil is at the bottom I know there is oil in that pond
Take out the prop first and undo the rudder from the servo.
thanks for imfo
@BSRCer i know it sucks when there is no other way to say it
lol he makes putting the blocks back in easy
yes you did LOL on the runnig video you even showed it
Putt a ring between the motor Mount and the tube the shaft goes thrue. than you have dobbel secured it. Have just did this on my boat. lost my shaft. Suden high arpm..... Then the NeXT i puttet a ring over the shaft,. just behind the engine Mount. The ring is whit tha same tool. Whit a skruw that Locks it around the drive flexi shaft.just Write me if you want Picture of it. I am gonna try and upload a video, on how to secure the drive shaft on rc boat.
Would wd 40 be ok for spraying it?
Never use wd40 on something that needs constant lubrication,wd40 dries off after minutes then there's nothing there, use grease only to be proper.
yea
I feel dumber now I use marine grease and only remove the flex shaft
so many thats what she saids
