Growing plants and keeping 'pets' - the two greatest balms for the Soul ! And we English are passionate about BOTH.

I rented a house where the large garden was just mud. The landlord said I could do what I like with the garden, so for two years put in a beautiful cottage garden with lots of flowers to encourage insects. We've just moved out, and the landlord wants me to pay for the whole thing to be rotivated to mud again. It's utterly heart breaking.

I would pull up all the flowers, bushes and plant and take them with you. If you can't do that. Go on freecycle or Craigslist and give them away.

@@nspector it's because he pays his friend who does the garden, half, and he keeps half. We had to pay £200 to have his friend rotovate it all. He also tried to charge us for moving furniture which he himself moved before we rented the property. I feel sorry for his new tenants.

Nice use of space in that design. Most urban gardens have a lawn in the middle and borders around the outside. This one had a big border in the middle with gravel paths around the outside. If you don't need a lawn for children or pets and have limited space then this offers a great alternative and provides a lot more scope for planting.

Lovely idea to have island flower beds with paths linking them. I prefer perennials to annuals and am in mid-spring here in Melbourne, Australia. Some perennials have burst into flower while others are growing taller. I like mixed garden beds - some perennials, some shrubs, some trees,

For some reason I have spent the last 4 hours watching gardening advice videos despite not having a garden. But I have learned something: the number of British gardeners who recommend gravel as pathway material strongly suggests to me that they don’t typically walk around their yards barefoot in Britain. My American feet are wincing at the idea of walking on that all summer

I moved from a rainy region to a dry one some 20 years ago. It was difficult to adapt my kind of gardening to this región, but now I can tell you I'm in love with succulents and cactus. And my garden is of course in a very different style, but feels as green, full of Life and color as the one before 🌻
Look for Laura Eubanks and Debra Lee Baldwin gardens for great landscaping un dryer climates!

add wood chips on top in no time you will have a great growing medium . My garden was all clay and sand could grow nothing, WATCH BACK TO EDEN GARDEN UTUBE, All the best.

My garden was like that too when I moved in. I didnt have much money & no transport of my own & virtually nothing was growing in it, so I trimmed the abundantly growing Forsythia & chopped all the sprigs off it into small pieces & dug it in. The soil started improving immediately. What had been so clayey that the water just ran off of it, instead of sinking in, was transformed by the next spring.

Dig out as much of the red clay in the areas where you want to plant something, replace that soil with the top soil from lowest or home depot it is a really big bag of good soil for $2 a bag. I do that every year
