… your welcome 😁
I believe you're the only one here who listed these worst States in the proper order! Well done!😀👍
Gee most of these states are Republican states. Go figure.
Kentucky should be in there somewhere
Thank you!
Looks mostly like Red States. And they blame the Democrats….shocking
I lived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana from 1975-1977 & it was by far the worst place I've ever lived.
It still sucks, and it’s getting much, much worse, with no light at the end of the tunnel, especially now that the state has elected a radical Republican Trumper governor. He bans books, wants to increase oil and gas drilling, is bound to continue the degradation of our coastline (thus leaving the state open to more serious damage from worsening hurricanes), just signed a bill allowing non-permitted open-carry, vouchers to subsidize private schools. And this is just in the past few months. I do not understand why people elect those who will make their lives much worse. It’s incredibly sad and infuriating.
@@jramsey9690 Wow. Sorry to hear that. Sounds worse than Huey P. Long.
@@eekamouse-js8lr Unfortunately, things hardly ever change in Louisiana. A main reason is that most people in the state don’t care enough to even vote, which is what Republicans want.
@@jramsey9690lol you would understand if you met my mom's family in W. Monroe. Lol. I stuck close to my dad's family in Chalmette and NOLA. I have a daughter in law from E. Baton Rouge. She won't even visit because of the drugs and crime. I hate that it's this way.
@@jramsey9690you should be happy that a Democrat/Marxist/communist/fascist isn’t running the sh-those of a state. After all, they ruined it!
I was born and raised in Ohio. I moved out in my 20's and have lived in 10 different states. 3 just moved back to Ohio a couple years ano I disagree with the statement that there's nothing to do in Ohio. It is one of only 8 states that have free State park access. Most of these parks are incredible. The infrastructure is slowly coming back. The bigger cities have great museums, and Ohio has a couple of the best amusement parks in the world with Cedar Point and Kings Island. Lake Erie is much cleaner now and provides many great beaches and waterfronts.g
I just returned from Hocking Hills stayed in a exquisite rustic trilevel cabin. Went to the caves just incredible to see. I wouldn't mind living in Hocking Hills very quaint lovely small town. The only thing is I felt like I was on a roller coaster with all the winding hills.
Unfortunately for Ohio, Hocking Hills is the only redeeming quality. Well, that and Joe Burrow. I hope free agency is kind to the state lest they are left with only one redeeming quality again.
@user-ny4md8wf5j have you lived in Ohio? Or are from Ohio and never been anywhere else. I have been all over the country and no. Ohio wouldn't be the 1st choice of places to live. We moved back so my wife can be near her elderly parents. I'm just saying it is better than most believe. There is things to do here.
I'm born and raised and still live in Ohio. Yes there is things to do but we have the dumbest people in the North. I've became a hermit just to avoid being drained by dumbasses. Seems like recent politics has emboldened and brought the stupid people to the surface
If anyone thinks Ohio is bad, they never lived in Taxachusetts. From crappy weather to typical Lib Governance it is not a great place to be cozy in. How do I know? I was born there and finally left a stagnant life there and moved to Ohio. There is no Heaven on earth, but compared to Massachusetts, I escaped hell.
I live in New Mexico and your information is Spot-On! ...Actually it's quite a bit worse, I think you were being nice.
Weird. I live in Colorado and had always just thought of neighboring New Mexico as a beautiful place to visit. We drive down in the spring when we want to get slightly warmer. I was shocked to find out how bad it was in so many rankings, especially crime. We just never go to Albuquerque. We stay in the smaller, mountain towns. I feel bad for them, and hope they can get better. The climate is amazing.
All states have issues. Not expecting someone from NYC to like states like Oklahoma, Kansas or Nebraska. But I'm not expecting for someone to like NYC, Chicago, L.A. or Washington D.C. . Being a Truck driver I have my favorite states and those that i'd prefer to never visit ever again. NYC ..No thanks ! But New York state is a great place to visit.
That's the thing. Being a driver like you, I have the advantage of "just passin' through today" and not having to know too many dirty little secrets of any area. I have fave coffee shops and malls and parks and historic downtowns in all 48 by now 😊 Even Nebraska has the Gothenburg exit w/ a real sod house, Pony Express history, and a very likable coffee house.
Native New Yorker here come visit spend your money and get home safe. 😊
I've been to Nebraska a number of times one of the ugliest states I've ever been too. Also I hate North Dakota and South Dakota. North Dakota businesses will pay you to move there especially in the medical field like hospitals.
I agree with your assessment of new york. The people in upstate seem friendly and it's a great place. NYC is completely different.
I"m an Okie and the only reason I don't live in NYC is poor wife choices, lol. I can retire about 8 years earlier if I stay in this shithole state. Life has tradeoffs.
I'm shocked Alaska didn't make this list with its isolation, freezing weather, violent crime and overpriced groceries.
Or at least the "dis"-honorable mentions list.
I read that Alaska has the most serial killers in America. Is that true?
The area I grew up in my state has the worse pesky biting bugs I thought till I seen them in Alaska 🦟🦟🦟
We have overpriced groceries in Wisconsin
@@BruceClemo Never been to Wisconsin but I doubt its as expensive as Alaska or Hawaii groceries.

It may change by the time you retire, y’know.
yea...and given thtat this list is horseshit, I'd probably not use it to plan my future.
Its really easy...if you vote red, move to a red state so you aren't fucked...if you vote blue, move to a blue state so you can get the good fucking you obviously want.
Huntsville is about the only thing keeping us, Alabama, from being dead last. And the rest of us hate them for all their fancy reading and stuff.
I was raised in New Orleans and left when I was 25 (64 now). I never regretted it. When I go home to visit my family, they always ask, "now that you're retired, are you going to move back home?" I always just smile and say I'm not.

Yes, Ohio and Michigan fought over Toledo, and Ohio lost. There's a John Denver song concerning this....
Illinois, Ohio and Michigan all had part of the steel industry which is why people even stayed there after WWI!
Thanks for the mention of the song. I thoroughly enjoyed it and had some laughs.
Which song is that?
[edit: I found it. ‘Saturday Night in Toledo, Ohio.’ ….hilarious!]
Detroit isn’t as bad as it used to be. Annoys me when only the “bad” areas are shown. Every city has bad areas. Detroit has made an amazing comeback! (And I have lived here my whole life). Spot on about the roads- the weather and heavy trucks just destroys them.
Both states lose
I am in Florida FROM Massachusetts. I want so badly to move back. I HATE FLORIDA.
moving back to MassACHOOsetts, the state with a sneeze in the middle? no thanks, I'll stay here in Ohio, the state with "Hi" in the middle. A lot cheaper too.
@@pete5668 anyplace is better than FloRIDa ANYPLACE .
@@LeonaDwoske I seriously doubt that. Have you seen Louisiana?
@@thekingofmovies193 Oh I have heard about Louisiana so i believe you.
@user-sk1fw3wu7h I mean, New Orleans was fun, but you really need to watch your back (and your wallet and phone) when you walk through through that city. And that's the only part that I have seen, but I think that's all you need to see, really. New Orleans is a nice city worth visiting (at least once), and I recommend the beignets from Cafe Du Monde. But other than that, I don't really see any other reason to visit, let alone live in Louisiana (except for whenever Mardi Gras is).
I lived in Lafayette LA for a few years as a young adult. As a military brat, I’d lived a lot of places before then. It blows my mind-education and racism were the things that bothered me most, but, OMG what a mess it is. I-10 will be under construction until eternity.
West Virginia is a beautiful state. Barboursville is pretty nice. The people are really friendly.
Yes, WV is beautiful bit I much prefer the very BLUE state of MARYLAND!
BUT! Lol!
I live in Barboursville. My wife and I have two stable and growing careers, and yes, WV is beautiful.
Yes, but you can't grow food in the ground because of pfas and pollution. I'm from West Virginia too, Harper's ferry WV and our rivers are disgusting, so much trash, trash everywhere. I moved away a long time ago and only visit now and every time I go back I'm appalled at what they've done with my hometown. It's unrecognizable. And super expensive. I moved to Michigan and have been here ever since!
@@zoebear1992 And it is also a very RED state! I prefer the wonderful BLUE state of Maryland!
New Mexico has some of the worst health care and hospitals than any state.
Yes, they do. But, it's a very pretty state and the food is muy delicioso! Thanks for watching!
Awww dang brother. I'm from Las Cruces and I had the best health care from my Mountain View Healthcare providers. Never had a claim denied and actually got approved for my electric wheelchair right away.
Well, my wife and I had lousy care at a tiny hospital in Las Vegas, NM@@MarieDahme
I can't say the facilities are bad, the healthcare workers and doctors and surgeons are the worst.
Really depends on where you live. It can be very great to right down horrible
Shows how little you know about Michigan. Detroit is not the mess that it used to be. Flint is, but that is one city. Ann Arbor considered the best city in the US and in the top ten for best city to retire in. We are the least gerrymandered state in the US and also have enshrined women's and voting rights in the state constitution. And most importantly, we have lots and lots of fresh water and a moderate climate. The roads are getting fixed and long term, there will be reverse migration as people get tired of cooking on the southern parts of the US.
Don't forget, Ohio also had the Cuyahoga river catching fire in late 70s or early 80s
I remember that ! I lived there then😂. The foam floating down the river 😂. I totally forgot about it !

Word of advice visit Tennessee and leave on probation. Fyi it's not a nice state
I love Michigan, one of the most beautiful states.
But I’m from the Upper Peninsula, so…..
I moved back to New Mexico from California, after living all over the US, in Europe, and in Japan. OK, we're poor and some areas are violent, but we also have Sandia and Los Alamos, and White Sands, and some of the most beautiful wilderness land in the world. I love this state. I have never felt afraid here.
Thank you.
Oh my goodness you have an amazing sense of humor. I felt like I was watching stand-up comedy. Thank goodness I'm not moving to any of those States.
Oklahoma isn't so bad as far as natural beauty. The western part of the state was designated a national wilderness refuge by Teddy Roosevelt when he came to visit Last Comanche Warrior Chief Quanah Parker. It's really beautiful. Turner Falls near Davis, OK is also beautiful! The Art Deco architecture in Tulsa is very top-notch. I went to all these places and loved it all. Yep, I'm a Texan!
I worked & lived in Enid OK for 2 years 1991-1992. I loved that time and missed it now and then.❤
Thank you from an Okie. This guy, I'm quite sure has never been to Oklahoma so he absolutely wouldn't know of any beautiful parts of our state. He's just talking trash. And I don't know why people think are citizens from our states hate each other so much because we don't. Unless it's the OU Texas football game of course. We're headed down to the coastal area of Texas next month.
This guy is wack. He doesn't know what he's talking about. Stay in Cali with the rest of the Mexicans and communist.
I love the free flow of ideas and criticism.
Louisiana DEFINITELY has the BEST food
LA food is great, but no where beats NYC or CA (LA/SD/SF/OC/...)
I've lived in California, Michigan, Arizona, North Dakota, Texas, and North Carolina, and North Carolina is by far the worst place I've ever lived.
Id love your take on Wyoming 😅

Interesting, however the only 3 States that would not make my list to ever live in are Texas, Florida and Idaho!
Obviously a Biden proponent.
Most of these Southern states are pathetic! The recent increases in tornadoes ,make most Southern states look very undesirable! IMHO!
Funny, how all the people from California, New York, Illinois, Michigan are all moving to these pathetic, southern states you speak of. Being a southerner from one of the states on the list, we understand our problems. But the fact that it is affordable to live here, that we have lower taxes, More affordable housing, and in my state, one of the most respected hospitals in the country, things ain't so bad.

I lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico, for 7 years. It was one of the best places I lived in.
Anyone see a pattern here. I did.
SC on the list, yet you can't keep people from Ohio, Pennsylvania, NY, and WV from moving there.
As a New Yorker who has observed that state's (and city's) decline firsthand, I can say I was a little surprised to not see that state on the list. However, I suppose it's GDP, the upstate region, and the city's restaurants, museums, Broadway shows, and other points of interest bails it out.
Texas is a very nice State to live in.....Crime is low and cost of living is affordable ❤ People are friendly and respectful..
Bro you had me ROLLING 🤣🤣
Weird how California and NY aren't on this list. We only hear of everyone leaving those states to move here (Oklahoma) because of the cost of living, immigration, and crime rates causing people to flee here to escape the problems of those states. Our real estate prices are a dream compared to that of California and NY. The economy here was golden before the Biden era.
It is amazing that Mississippi, Oklahoma and Arkansas are ranked as #5, #3 and #1, respectively, on the best states to retire list.
Cost of living is very low so you get a lot more for your money. Arkansas is a beautiful state with very kind people. The hunters though are obnoxious. Education is pitiful!
Jackson, Ms has designated themselves as a sanctuary city.
I wonder if that has anything to do with Amazon moving in and needing dirt cheap labour. ❓
I knew Missouri would make the list. Humidity, gray skies and regressive politics ensured it.
Arizona should have been on that list in the top 5. Worst state in so many categories. As for New Mexico, probably most of the crime is localized to Albuquerque. So it’s not really fair to generalize that mess to the whole state. And yes, the food in New Mexico is the best in the U.S.!
Well at least Louisiana has the city of New Orleans which is world famous & our food is as famous as the food in Paris. And our winters are mild.
John Foster you are so funny and informative.
I live in New Mexico and have to say its true, if you live in Bernalillo County. Albuquerque for example is the kind of city that makes you think car jackings must be a national past time. Me and relatives usually go out of our way to avoid Bernalillo County because of that. One of my uncles one time was was moving from Alamosa CO to Ruidoso NM and instead of going through Albuquerque to shorten the time he went out of his way to go through Las Vegas>Santa Rosa>Clovis>Portales>Roswell instead. Something about, "I don't like getting shot at and don't like wasting ammunition shooting back."🤣🤣🤣

Got to see some states I was considering moving to that now I’m not. I was surprised to not see cali (where I’m from) or New York BUTTTT with how much there is to do and how much money they make, I can see how they weren’t. Good vid!!

I have lived in California most of my adult life. I have also visited all of the ten worst states on this list.
Every place has its good and bad attributes.
If you are genuinely happy where you live, then enjoy your situation.
California has a lot of problems like all states. But my wife and I are very happy here. We could not even imagine living anywhere else. It is not for everyone. But no place is perfect. Just look at the bright side of where you live.

I was born and raised in Ohio.... just to know about Ohio being really bad 😔.......glad i moved to Nevada in 1997
Over the past several years, I've asked Illinoisans whether they'd leave the state if they could do so. Most start out by mentioning that they have have friends and family there, they'd need a new job, etc. however, even with any conditions they mention, 100 percent of them said they'd leave Illinois. Chicago used to be a "must -see" for many people. Now it's a "don't-bother" or "stay-away."
I'm an illinoian I have a descent size home in the city ..taxes1,600 a year. Descent neighborhood. Blue collar state, easy to find jobs. Not moving out of illinois to experience snakes, hurricanes, and stand your ground non reported shootings.
@@blackbarbie0541 That's wonderful. It's encouraging to read the words of someone who is pleased to live there. You do raise good points, of course, about the weather and creatures elsewhere, too. I don't know the details on the stand-your-ground laws, or gathering of statistics for fatalities so I cannot speak on that issue.
I would leave this state of Illinois, because it's all about Chicago. Just look at the rest of the state 😢

Had the misfortune of living in both TN and MS. Two forsaken sink holes. I did enjoy the Blues Festival in Memphis. The poverty level is so shocking, you sometimes believe you're in a third-world country. Here's the thing: The poorest people who were neighbors of mine would help you out if at 3 in the morning if you needed it. These were people who lived in broken down trailers and shacks with tin roofs. I was never afraid in supposedly crime-ridden Memphis. Everybody was into the music and I never felt threatened, even as a woman walking around alone. I'll never forget a funky bar there -- Ernestine & Celeste. I don't think the poor folk even know how badly they are exploited, how deprived they are. I couldn't take it anymore. So many streams ruined by people dumping their furniture and garbage into them. Starving animals in pastures while fat people sat on their porches and smoked. Cruelty up against abject poverty. In particular, stay away from the Cumberland Plateau in TN -- like the movie Deliverance. My advice: STAY AWAY! I did enjoy NM (Ruidoso), but that was many years ago. Best Mexican food I ever ate and the scenery was spectacular. Oh well, that's my 2 cents.
@janetdidonato9963 maybe you lived in the wrong area of Tennessee.
@@charliedavis9996 Maybe. If you found the right area, good on ya!

@@WorldRankingsMedia, you're welcome, I have an odd batch of criteria for being happy and wanting to live in an area.
Things like year-round climate (I'm okay with short-term cold and a little snow, I like 4 seasons), long-term water resources - areas with few droughts - ability for a personal home water well, topography, ... which admittedly is a downside to the recent years in mid-Michigan, I like my hills. Reptiles and insects? what are the nusances. Rural for avoiding congestion, but still civilization with adequate internet and stores in a radius for needs. Friendly people and yet not so over nosey into each other's business. Then affordable housing, and reasonable distance to interstates in case travel to friends and family needs to happen. The tendency toward few natural disasters also works in there. Crime and healthcare also fit in, but I've been fortunate in low-crime rural choices in my 54 years.
I currently live 1 block from the center of a village, and the way the properties align there's a church across the street, we don't see either neighbor to the sides - just their garages, and the backyard view is across 3 back yards and then to a community park. The village is walkable, dog walk-friendly, and has the gas station, local restaurant and bar, library, community center, and Dollar Store a mile out of town for things the gas station store doesn't have. At the same time, the major universities are under an hour away. And you are never more than six miles away from water in Michigan, and 85 miles away from a Great Lake.
I think we're on the same page with a lot of your criteria. The trick is finding those places and then hoping it doesn't change. Sounds like you already found a good place to call home!
Mississippi is not even close to the lowest GDP in the country and stopped losing population last year, thanks to Louisiana and Tennessee.

As someone who lives in Arkansas (I refuse to call myself an Arkansan because I wasn't born here and I'm embarrassed to be associated with most of these people), I'm not the least bit surprised that Arkansas is #2 on this list. I'm pretty sure the real reason why camouflage is so popular here is because no one with any self respect wants to be seen living here.
Florida was not on the list? That is shocking. Those other ten states must be horrendous.
I am a Californian living in FL, cant afford CA unless I want to live in Fresno or Bakersfield. Some areas here are good, we live in the hills, central FL and have 6 month of cool and nice weather but, I still agree with you. Redneck to the tee
Grew up in Florida and never understood why anyone would voluntarily move there. Got out of that hot, flat, politically reactionary weird place as soon as I could.
I'm just happy Mississippi is somewhat getting better. Maybe one year we won't be on this list in like 20-30 years lol.
You know, if a bunch of very cool people move to Oklahoma, it could change. It has very pretty places, and the sunsets are beyond beautiful.
And when it comes to the people, I have seen someone take their shirt off and give it to someone else.
Wonderful people in Oklahoma. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Yes nice ppl but I’ve read that their education system is terrible! Hard to overlook that.
@susancook1448 Oh yes, sorry to say our school system beyond sucks. And we have a Secretary of Education who is IMHO either trying to kill the kids in oklahoma or make them all stupid. That's why I need people to move here.
You can overlook it by going to a school that isn't horrible. And there are plenty. Like most places, Oklahoma is bad if you are poor. Not bad at all if you aren't. @@susancook1448
I have lived in Oklahoma for 5 years after living in Missouri and Colorado. If I could at this time I would move somewhere on the best states list. Like anywhere but here. Lol
my top 10 1 california, 2 new york,3-new jersey,4-florida,5- texas,6- pennsylvania, 7 connecticut,8 massachietts,9 oregon, 10 washington
I’d like to know how many missing children/people these states have.
So many poorly educated states. No wonder.
For comments below... I have lived in Anchorage, Alaska most of my life and now that I am traveling more the benefits are beyond obvious. We have tons of clean water, very few fires that affect populated areas, no tornados, no horrible heatwaves, tons of mountain biking, endless hiking, gorgeous views, world class nordic ski association with miles of beautifully groomed & lighted trails. If you value outdoor activity we haven't traveled to any one place that has it all like Anchorage does. YES there are downfalls! Earthquakes, high property taxes, expensive groceries, downtown needs a serious facelift, difficult to fly out (3:20 flight to Seattle)... but show me a place that you can have lighted XC skiing, back country ski, hike, fat tire/snow bike, fish, has amazing photography... all just 20 minutes from your doorstep that's not blistering hot half the year that has ample water, and I'll move there.
Memphis, the worst city in all of TN. So toxic it brings the whole state down. smdh. Middle and East TN are lovely though.
East Tennessee may have a beautiful national park, but I found it a *terrible* place to live.
I had to work in Memphis for a week and I stopped an officer where the mall was and he said you don't need to go in there! 🤯
